THE BÜRGENSTOCK COLLECTION LAUNCHES NEW HYDROTHERMAL JOURNEYS

The Bürgenstock Collection, Switzerland, will launch a new programme of Hydrothermal Journeys across its spas from October 2023. The complimentary, self-guided journeys have been carefully developed to improve the wellness experience for all guests, guiding them on how to best use the hydrothermal facilities across its four spas in Switzerland. The aim is to allow each guest to use the facilities smoothly and optimally in line with their individual needs, whether for pure relaxation, recovery after a hike, time to reconnect and/or general wellbeing.

Maggie Derblay, Area Director of Spa, Wellness and Recreation for The Bürgenstock Collection, and experienced Wellness Specialist Paula Alonso-Maside have developed the hydrothermal journeys for guests to access the scientifically recognised benefits of hydrothermal bathing, increased when combined with other spa elements including saunas, cold plunge or ice rooms.

Creating core journeys which apply a consistent approach across each spa within The Bürgenstock Collection allows guests to benefit from similar wellness experiences whichever spa they choose: the Bürgenstock Alpine Spa and Waldhotel Spa at Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne; Spa du Royal at Royal Savoy Hotel & Spa, Lausanne and Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & Spa. Each facility has thermal and water-based experiences at the core of its wellness offering, from the dramatic infinity pool overhanging Lake Lucerne complete with water massage jets at the Bu*rgenstock Alpine Spa, to the vitality pool in Bern’s only hotel spa at the Schweizerhof Bern & Spa

The three core journeys on offer across each hotel are:

 Relax: to unwind and soothe the mind with an emphasis on warm & smooth temperature contrasts, bringing the body to a natural state of calmness and tranquillity.

 Regenerate: to assist the body to naturally repair itself, reduce inflammation, using heat to detoxify, and cold temperatures to relieve muscle soreness, and revitalise the mind and body.

 Activate: To invigorate and re-energise the body and stimulate mental clarity via a dynamic journey with temperature contrasts, resulting in a performance boost and enhanced vitality.

These core experiences will be further supported by pre- and post- treatment specific journeys, as well as seasonal journeys to be introduced throughout the year.

Upon arrival to the spa, guests will be invited to choose their own journey based on their desired outcomes. Guidance will be available from the spa team upon request to help guests identify the most suitable journey for their desired goals. Printed on a waterproof card which fits neatly into their robe and supported by subtle signage, each journey is designed to take between 40 and 120 minutes depending on the spa and guest preference. As heat and cold tolerance varies considerably from one person to another, guests will have the flexibility to choose their best level of comfort within the time ranges yet are advised to follow the steps to reach the desired outcome, without skipping any elements of the journey. Reminders to relax and hydrate are included throughout each journey.
