Dunkin’ Donuts plans blocked by village board

Though Plainfield residents can get their coffee fixes at a variety of shops throughout the area, plans for a new Dunkin’ Donuts development seemed to go cold during Monday’s village board meeting. After months of discussion and reworking plans for an approximately 4,400-squarefoot retail center off of Route 59, just south of the Walgreens on the corner of Route 59 and Main Street, the Village of Plainfield’s board of trustees failed to support the ‘Triangle Shoppe’ development on June 2. The topic has gone back and forth between Plainfield’s Plan Commission and the village board. During the April 7 board meeting, village trustees voted to remand the site plan and special use back to the Plan Commission, as per the applicant’s request. On May 20, the Plan Commission discussed the applicant’s reworked concept plans, which include a relocated drive-thru, the addition of a landscape buffer, and new architecture that would allow the Dunkin’ Donuts and two supplementary storefronts to blend in more with the aesthetic of other buildings in Plainfield.
