Three businesses along Route 59 in Plainfield will be getting larger signs with unanimous approval by trustees during Monday night’s meeting. Adventist Healthcare will be able to build a replacement ground monument sign up to 15 feet tall and 64 square feet at 15728 S. Route 59. Adventist had asked for a variance of the zoning code to allow for the additional size. The Code currently restricts signs to 10 feet in height and 48 square feet in the sign area. Adventist sought the variance because of the locations of nearby medical office buildings in the area, making the entrance to the facility difficult to find on Route 59. Vintage Harvest Retail Center and Ross Store, both on Route 59, also are asking for variances for larger signs. Vintage Harvest is asking for a sign maximum that is 150 square feet by 15 feet tall. Ross Store is requesting a variance for signs on Route 59 and the 127th Street side. Trustees directed Village Attorney James Harvey to draft ordinances granting approvals for the two retailers.
