Jennifer Rooks-Lopez was announced as the new Plainfield Park District Director of Planning during the Feb. 11 board meeting. Her duties will include working on new and current developments as well as plans for future projects in the District. Rooks-Lopez is a certified landscape architect, with seven years experience with the Northbrook Park District as Senior Planner. Her hiring comes after an open search during the last three months. “We had six applicants respond for the position and felt Rooks-Lopez to be the best fit for us,” said Carlo Capalbo, Plainfield Township Park District Executive Director. During the board meeting, commissioners also approved the Athletic Field/Facility Allocation and Usage Policy for 2015 that will act as a general reference and list of guidelines for users. The policy includes fee schedules as well as prioritizing field usage. At the top of the list is park district activities, followed by Plainfield School District 202, affiliate groups, in-district non-affiliate groups, in-district nonprofits, in-district businesses and finally other programs, groups or events. In November, Capalbo got board approval to set up a committee to look into field usage policy and user fee structure. Board Vice President Janet Silosky and Commissioner Rob Ayres volunteered to serve on the committee, and Commissioner Peter Steinys would serve as alternate.
