Bagpipers, Irish Dancers, parade floats and marching band, family fun and entertainment. The 13th annual Hometown Irish Parade steps off Sunday, March 15, at 1 p.m. sharp. Seventy-five floats, parade walkers, five bagpipe groups and community groups will march, stroll and entertain onlookers along the parade route. Providence High School is bringing its Band, Drum Line and newly formed Bag Pipers for a special treat said Tom Ruane, logistics parade layout go-to person. The day is organized by the Village Preservation Association of Plainfield with its many volunteers to mark the day as a fun time for visitors. A tent will be set up on Des Plaines Street in the downtown area for family oriented activities on Sunday after the parade. Parade Grand Marshal this year is Dan Cassidy. He is being honored for his work as a committee member of the VHA and for all his help since the first Irish Parade. He and his family have been an important part of Plainfield for many years. Parade Princess is Colleen McCann, sophomore honor student from Plainfield East High School. Colleen is an “A” student ranked number one in her class of 500 at the school. She has been an Irish dancer since the age of four, and has many trophies won in competitions from across the area. On Sunday, the parade will leave from Plainfield Central High School at 11 a.m., travel north on James Street to Lockport Street; travel east on Lockport Street to Illinois Street; travel south on Illinois Street to Commercial Street; travel west on Commercial Street to James Street; and
