BACK TO BUSINESS Newly-appointed interim director Garrett Peck says his background can boost the park district By Suzanne Baker Enterprise Reporter
Garrett Peck hit the ground running last week as interim park district director, a job the Plainfield trustee believes is well-suited for his background. “You have to run government like a business,” adding he has plenty of business background as a business owner and as Plainfield trustee. To those who say the park district executive director needs a background in parks and creation, Peck points to the Naperville Park District. Naperville’s executive director, Ray McGury, who oversees a $34 million budget and a regular staff of more than 100 as well as 1,100 season employees, has a background in law enforcement. McGury spent more than 20 years with Naperville Police Department before serving as Bolingbrook police chief. “I am not hearing any complaints about him,” Peck said.
