fter nearly an hour of private discussion, the Plainfield Fire Protection District trustees voted unanimously to approve a written agreement with Deputy Chief John Stratton. But they did not say a single thing after the vote, so the reason for Stratton’s recent paid administrative leave still has not been explained. That did not seem to matter to the large crowd of supporters who came to the 9 a.m. Monday special meeting at Plainfield Fire Protection District Headquarters, 23748 W. 135th St., Plainfield. After the announcement, the group began applauding, eventually standing and turning to face Stratton, who sat in the back of the large meeting room. They simply were glad that Stratton would return to his role as deputy chief.

State Sen. Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, D-Shorewood, has chosen Rob Ayres as her appointee to the Plainfield Park Board. A law recently increased the board’s size from five to seven members. “I believe Rob’s experience and community involvement make him a wonderful addition to the management of our park district,” she said. State Senator Ayres is eager to get to Jennifer Bertinowork. Tarrant, “I’m incredibly excited D-Shorewood to begin working with the Plainfield Park board in this capacity and help get them back on track,” he said. In August, Bertino-Tarrant sought applications from community members interested in applying for the new park board position. She then formed a selection committee of four Plainfield residents who were responsible for reviewing resumes and conducting interviews of the interested applicants. “By allowing for community involvement in this process, I believe that we ensured
