A bright, sunny morning greeted some 30 people who celebrated the dedication of Gregory B. Bott Park on Saturday. The choice of park seems fitting for a man who experienced the ebb and flow of serving the Plainfield Park District for 32 years, the last 28 as executive director. Bott, who retired in late spring, started his career in Plainfield on March 27, 1981, as a park maintenance employee and worked his way to superintendent in 1982. He was named executive director in 1985. Under Bott’s direction, the park district grew from a staff of five fulltime employees to a park district that now employs 40 full-time staffers and an additional 250 season employees. Park Commissioner Mary Kay Ludemann thanked Bott for his service. “We went from a tiny, little park district to one with more than 100,000 residents,” she said. “I can’t thank you enough.” Former park commissioner and park
