The days of pothole-dodging while driving in the area may soon come to an end, as some roads in the Village of Plainfield are set to be repaired and resurfaced. During the May 19 village board meeting, the trustees voted to adopt a resolution declaring the intent and appropriation of motor fuel tax money for the 2014 MFT Street Improvement Program. They also voted to award bids for both the MFT Street Improvement Program and nonMFT Street Improvement Program work to D Construction, Inc. in the amounts of $638,211.93 and $815,547.12, respectively. The 2014 MFT Street Improvement Program work includes HMA surface removal, pavement patching, some curb and gutter removal and replacement, structure adjustments, select sidewalk removal and replacement, HMA surface course, pavement marking, parkway restoration, and traffic control and protection. This will be done on portions of 135th Street,Van Dyke Road and Drauden Road. Non-MFT Street Improvement Program work involves asphalt resurfacing in the Plainfield Acres subdivision, on Corbin Street, and portions of Union Street, Illinois Street, Oak Street, Arnold Street, Chicago Street, Eastern Avenue and various alleys. >> see resurFacing | Page 2
