On the morning of Sunday, Sept. 14, Lakeside Worship Center will have its first service. The new church, led by Pastor Dennis Taylor, will be launched at 10 a.m. in the Plainfield Academy gymnasium, 23930 W. Lockport St. Though Taylor, a former pastor at Community Christian Church in Romeoville, has years of preaching experience and comes from a family of pastors, starting his own church is a first for him. “I just felt that God was leading me to do something different,” Taylor said, adding he wants to bring something different to Plainfield that the community hasn’t seen before. The pastor described his vision for the non-denominational Christian church as “like a bowl of fruit:” a multi-cultural and multi-generational congregation, all worshipping together.
