BUILDING THE FUTURE In 1965, local builders got together to discuss and plan the future of Southern Oregon housing.

At the time, Oregon didn’t have a planning or a building code, and wouldn’t until 1974. Just about anyone could build just about anything, just about anywhere and call it a home. It’s a testimony to the craftsmanship of those early builders that we have as many buildings as we do from those days of “anything goes” construction. Your builder neighbors looked ahead and realized that the Rogue Valley was going to need wisely managed growth. To serve their community and their neighbors they created what became the Builders Association Southern Oregon. They created the education, advocacy and policy support necessary to provide the organizational framework for the expansion that surely came.

VETERAN HOME DEDICATION Hayden Homes, First Story, The City of Medford and numerous other partners came together to rebuild a local Vietnam Veteran’s condemned home. This project is a demonstration of the community’s collaborative philanthropy, allowing the veteran to remain on his property where he has resided for 42 years. It is the first built locally to support a U.S. military veteran. The City of Medford waived all fees associated with the project including permitting, inspection and timeline. Hayden Homes and First Story worked together alongside many partners to secure the necessary services and materials to rebuild the home including excavation, foundation, plumbing, paint and lumber. Hayden Homes is honored to provide affordable homes to the hardworking families in Southern Oregon. Hayden Homes supports philanthropic efforts in the communities in which they build and have contributed more than 13.3 million dollars in charitable donations with the flagship of their giving through the 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, First Story.
