I have read Alan Oakes' editorial ("Who Wants to Be a Billionaire? Me," Feb., p.6) three times and I believe this is the most truthful information anyone has ever written. Everyone has the same opportunity to be what they want to be if they are willing to work for it. You actually brought tears to my eyes when I read this, because that is what America is all about!

I worked for a small lumber company back in the 1960s and stayed with them for 30 years, working my way up to president of that company. I left after 30 years to buy my own lumber company. This could only happen in America.

Let's hope our elected officials in Washineton don't take that opportunity away from us, our children, and our grandchildren.

The article ("Who Wants to Be a Billionaire? Me") represents how so many people in this country feel. As for so many of the OWS crowd, they are young and know no better. Most have never really had to work, nor know the principles of hard labor required to succeed.

Too much government in our lives is a dangerous path to follow, and too many in the U.S. have become followers rather than leaders. Even if you are the lowest-paid employee, you still must be able to lead yourself to water and not rely on someone else to do it for you.
