Robert F. Bernhardt,74, former owner of Kight Lumber, Evansville, In., died May 27 in Evansville.
He bought Kight in 1957, selling it to his sons and retiring in 1988.
James Cherwinka, 75, former owner of Tree Stores Lumber and TreeCom truss plant, Cannon Falls, Mn., died June 6 in Cannon Falls.
He worked at Hayes-Lucas Lumber, Owatonna and Blooming Prairie, Mn.; Crane Lumber, Austin, Mn., and Hellickson Lumber, Wanamingo, Mn., before opening his own businesses. He sold TreeCom in 1980, but continued to work in sales for Structural Component Supply Co., Littfin Lumber, Automated Building Components, and Wausau Supply until retiring in 2001
Jack W. Almand Sr., 82, former owner and president of Booker & Co., Tampa, Fl., died June 5 in Tampa.
He bought the wholesale firm in the 1950s, selling it and retiring in 1999.
James M. Noffke, 79, former coowner of Noffke Lumber. Oshkosh. Wi., died June 4 in Oshkosh.
He and his older brother, Henry Noffke Jr., bought the business from their father and ran it together until 1970. After selling his share to his brother, Mr. Noffke ran a small hardwood lumber business.
Roy Kirchner, 90, Iowa lumberman, died June 8 in Estherville, Ia.
Mr. Kirchner served with the U.S. Army during WW II and was awarded three battle awards. In 1946. he went to work for Joyce Lumber, serving as manager from 1961 through 1912.He then purchased and operated a yard in Fostoria, Ia., until retiring in 1984.
Paul W. Aardal Sr., 80, longtime Michigan lumber salesman, died June 13 in Pontiac, Mi.
He spent his career in sales at various LBM companies, including Haggerty Lumber, Howell, and Fingerle Lumber, Ann Arbor. He also coowned A2 Sunrooms, Ann Arbor.
Allen Andrew Welch, 52, owner of Tri-County Building Supply, Vandalia, Mo., died of cancer May 2. With his brother, Frank, he starled True Builders, Laddonia, Mo., which evolved into Welch Brothers Lumber. He became sole owner of Tri-County in 2001.
Kenneth Ludemann. 77 . former owner of Sherwood Lumber & Fuel, Fargo, N.D., died June l0 in Fargo.
He worked for Sherwood for 34 years, eventually assuming ownership. Later, he sold the business to Builder's Supply Co., and stayed on until retiring in 1993.
Wayne N. Chernick,56, owner for 26 years of Ford River Lumber, Escanaba, Mi., died May 20 after a brief illness.
Dwight Wells, 58, lumber trader for Welco Lumber Corp., Carthage, Mo., died April30.

Mid-Am Building Supply, Moberly, Mo., moving to Continental Timber, Carthage, in 1990 and Welco in 2OO7 i. Voted 2005 and 2007 MBMDA : Manufanuring Supplier of the Year
Harry Dramstad,90, former owner of Sutton Lumber Yard, Sutton, N.D., died April 27 in Cooperstown, N.D.
In 1966 he and his wife. Lorraine. bought the former Crane-Johnson yard. He sold it five years later to become a pastor.
Michael Thomas Orr. 49. owner and president of Orr Woodworks, Jupiter, Fl., died May 25 in Jupiter.
Emmett Price "Mac" McMillan, 85, retired forester for Scotch Lumber, Fulton, Al., died l4ay 22 in Fulton.
