Botched Robbery at GP Mill

A bungled robbery attempt left two front-end loaders and lumber from Georgia-Pacific's Bowdens, N.C., sawmill scattered off the side of a nearby road.

Police believe the suspects entered the mill during the early hours of July 6 by cutting a lock off the fence. They then used a front-end loader to place lumber on a trailer.

Once out of the sawmill, the load of lumber shifted and began to scatter over a nearby road. The suspects then returned and brought out a front end loader to restack the lumber.

The front-end loader soon got stuck in deep mud off the roadside, which led the suspects to get another frontend loader from the mill

It was reported the suspects aborted their cleanup mission at about 4 a.m., as employees began to report to the mill. There was no damage to the front-end loaders and all the lumber was recovered.

The police have no suspects.
