EVENT RECAP

GIVING THANKS Thank you for you article “Bravery and ope” (Feb., p. 8). ou put into words what I have always felt—yet was going down the very path you talked about in condemning, criticizing, complaining, instead of holding my head high as a father, grandfather, Marine vet, and TALK Back most of all proud American. So thank you because you have put my mind and heart in the right place and to do as you just did—to lead, mentor and challenge all around me to be better and work together to make ourselves and America better. Dave Delony International Wood Products, Tumwater, Wa. I enjoyed reading your article and wanted you to know I agree with your thoughts and fully support your message. Every time we think, some event will change this frenzied cycle, we find ourselves wrong. I just want the world to go back to allow us the ability to travel and make personal connections with those we care about. owever, some are now suggesting, this is the new way of life, therefore I assume they must like it this way. We struggle with our health. We struggle with our employees. We struggle with those who lack patience. We struggle with those making the rules. We struggle with those that don’t want to follow the rules owever, at Idaho Timber we are looking for ways to connect with our people to allow them to know we care. People notice everything we do: Last year we averaged ,000 in bonus payments per employee (not including management). We paid for two funerals for employees who caught CO I (outside of work) and died. We cared for those who have cancer and extended additional paid time off in order to protect our people from exposing each other. All o ce workers came into our o ces every working day, just as our mill workers did, other than when we were sick ourselves. Through all this, we strived to honor our commitments which required us to work weekends and some holidays therefore even in the midst of disruption we produced and shipped more in 0 0 than 01 . As a result, we were blessed in 0 0 and are continuing to experience blessings as we begin 0 1. I just wonder, is this a test? This morning, I adjusted my own attitude and decided to count my blessings instead of pouting about the struggles created by CO I -1 and politics. Ted Ellis Idaho Timber Boise, Id. excited to launch this campaign as a way to increase awareness, and to expand the pool of candidates for our future workforce.” It is geared towards two audiences: high school students and those in their mid- 0s to late 0s seeking a career change, such as veterans.
