We examine volumes of new planning applications lodged as well as project commencements, to determine the current state of the construction industry. We also provide you with sample project commencements from July. Commencements by Sector 2014/2015 Comparative figures per sector - Q1 & Q2 The image below compares the volume of projects commenced per sector in 2014 versus 2015. Overall the comparison showed a mixed set of results with increases or stability year on year in the Commercial, Education, Industrial and Medical sectors but with declines in the Agriculture, Residential and Social sectors.

-15% Drop in New Applications Lodged Applications Q1 & Q2 2014 versus 2015 The table below describes the comparsion in volume of new planning applications lodged during the first 6 months of 2014 and 2015. Overall figures show a -15% decrease with drops noted in the Commercial, Education, Industrial, Residential and Social sectors. On the positive side though, the volumes of new planning applications have increased in both the Agriculture and Medical construction sectors.

BuildingInfo Management Team Expands Experienced construction research executive joins BuildingInfo team

David Martin

We are pleased to announce that David Martin has joined the Building Information Ireland management team in the role of Operations Manager. While forming an integral part of the strategic development of the company alongside his management colleagues and board of directors, David will assume day to day responsibility for the management of the research function and IT development. David is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, graduate of University College Cork and University College Galway, and has previously worked in the construction research area in both Ireland and Scotland and is currently a Director/Owner of a succesful construction research firm operating in Scotland.
