McKenzie Construction contributed to the restoring and refurbishing of the historical Biscayne Park Log Cabin. Collaborating closely with architect Richard Heisenbottle, McKenzie and Heisenbottle focused mainly on bringing back the original charm of the existing 1935 building. MIAMI AD SCHOOL

571 NW 28th Street, Miami, FL 33127

The famed Miami Ad School has launched its new campus in Wynwood in conjunction with McKenzie Construction and Miami architect Alan Shulman’s eponymous firm Shulman + Associates. The school purchased the property at the intersection of NW 6th Avenue and NW 28th Street in 2013; McKenzie Construction, in conjunction with McKenzie Craft, was tapped to execute the project to completion. McKenzie Construction augmented the existing structures with a new mezzanine in one of the buildings, and a unique bridge and elevator to improve campus circulation.

Like most Wynwood buildings, the campus consists of an assemblage of former warehouse spaces, refurbished and revitalized by some of the most unique architectural and artistic interventions in the neighborhood. McKenzie Construction and Shulman Associates collaborated with a dozen internationally-famous street artists, including Kislow, NYCHOS, and Seth the Globepainter, to canvas the bright magenta walls with their best work. The result is first-class architecture—a nearly edible piece of art in a neighborhood already bursting at the seams with eye candy.

Come experience Miami’s freshest Mexican street food experience, at Coyo Taco! The newly completed interior renovation, designed by Urban Robot Associates, is situated in the the heart of Wynwood, right next to Panther Coffee. The wave-crested mural embellishing the font facade of the former warehouse is a new work by Bay-area based artist Aaron Kai. The building’s industrial quality is complimented by new flooring—a wash of lush Cuban concrete tile—and by a custom wooden dining table; an authentic Mexican import.

The light, airy dining area proceeds to a chic, windowless speakeasy lounge, where the floor takes on an inverted meso-american motif and the custom bar mocks up the same pattern as the fore, only in raw concrete. Our McKenzie Craft team installed the fire-seared gatorwood wall cladding, as well as the reclaimed board-formed herringbone concrete bar, low lounge tables, and the custom DJ booth, centered in the space.

As JugoFresh expands across Miami, so does its aesthetic palette—JugoFresh Wynwood Walls is owner Matthew Sherman’s most ambitious restaurant interior to date.
