For the Russian Federation the development of aviation is strategically important, because many of its vast territories can be covered only by air. At the moment in Russia there are 241 airports, 78 airports amongst them are international.

The necessity to build a new airport based on the fact that the existing one from all sides clamped of residential development, and there are not resources for further development. The new airport will replace existing one, which will be closed in the future and integrated into the urban development. The new location allows to avoid landings and take-offs of aircraft over residential areas.

The developed territory consist of passenger terminals, airfield and station square for public and private transport and taxi stops.

The airport complex provides services for domestic and international flights. Each of the terminals is divided into functional zones. On the ground floor were placed check-in and baggage drop-off areas, as well as commercial, catering and passenger service enterprises. On the second level there are passport control zones, passenger waiting rooms, commercial and catering services. On the third level there are lounges for business class passengers, retail spaces and cafe.

Rostov region has a favorable location: the coverage area does not intersect with the coverage areas of large air hubs - Krasnodar and Volgograd

Rostov-on-Don is one of the largest seaports in Russia in terms of cargo turnover.

New location

New airport is located near the village of Grushevskaya in the Aksai district of the Rostov region that is in 29km from Rostov-on-Don.

Volumetric formation

The simple linear concept

Expansion of the gate’s front Increasing area of the terminal

Increasing terminal units to divide international and internal passengers flows

Creating an internal space of the terminal complex Green areas for passengers awaiting their flight or people, who meet their family or friends

Creating a structural shell to cover the open space from precipitation

During the last 50 years the current site was empty and there was an intention to build a new district dominant.

The building composition was created in accordance with quarter principles development and the perimeter of the complex repeats the shape of the site; the buildings are arranged in the corners in order to form the silhouette of the complex and provide the required light conditions.

The space is divided into private and public. The ground floor serves a public function. There take place offices, educational centre and shops.

Private space represent courtyard with children’s playgrounds and a space for the rest.

For this project were also created the entrance design concept, with the individual design for each block.

Open School

TU Berlin 2021/11-2022/02

The laboratory for research was Berlin itself, namely locations along the former Berlin wall. Analyzing the existing situation of the site was decided to develop narrative with creating a new type of school that emphasizes children’s‘ interactions with animals, plant life, and others - there is a hope that non-traditional forms and integrated programs will enhance the educational experience.

When we speak about school we speak about educational model, we understand that the labor market is changing radicallyone can only guess what professions will be in demand in the middle of the 21st century. A knowledge by itself cannot be the focus of a modern education. But the topic of developing skills, applying this knowledge into practice, comes to the fore, and it requires different teaching methods, different work of the teacher with the class and other tools for measuring learning outcomes.

One of the most fundamental problems with existing schools is the obsolescence of the traditional classroom. The history of “factory learning” is a thing of the past. If there are 30 people in the class, then, of course, it is extremely difficult for everyone to acquire knowledge. The goal’s project was to try to create a flexible educational space.

The idea was to combine different typologies and this project was an attempt to unite school, doggy day care and green house in order to create new type of school to emphasize children’s interactions with animals and plant life.

An attempt to rethink a traditional classroom and to create a flexible educational space.

Traditional spatial arrangement of classrooms with rigid grid.

Flexible and free spatial arrangement of classrooms with hallway space which is used for students needs.

Amphitheatre for schools events, for lessons and for free time

Double-height greenhouse classroom for natural science subjects or for drawing or even math classes.

3x3m classroom for individual work or online class

Flexible classrooms

Classrooms have different sizes and shapes for different kinds of work, for different numbers of students. This sort of space arrangement suggests to abandon borders between teacher and student and decrease in dominance of teacher in school hierarchy.

Cities around the world are currently facing an enormous pressure on affordable housing. Moreover, the situation is becoming increasingly difficult because of the rising sea level which decreases available coastal areas making them impossible to use.

The project’s goal is to suggest a solution for resilient and affordable floating housing in Miami. A modular system of tiny and manufactured houses make this proposal affordable. The big block 180x180m consists of 9 small blocks 60x60m, each block has a grid which is a multiple of 6m. The composition can be extended just attaching more blocks.

Each house grid is a multiple of 3m and can be placed in any places within the block’s grid to get different variations of blocks to bring diversity. Each block has an underwater space with a water storage, water treatment facilities, renewable desalinations, anaerobic digesters and algae bioreactors that allow a one block to exist independently.

Three of nine squares are public, there is a swimming pool in the centre, and two buildings with a kindergarten, a fitness, shops, offices, vegetarian restaurant and algae energy production scientific centre.

Four types of houses

The modular grid of blocks and modular grid of houses which is multiple of the same numbers ( 3, 6, 9m) allows to create an unlimited quantity of spatial decisions.
