Welcome To Cricket Island
Our story began on Fidalgo Island in Washington State, surrounded by the tulip fields of Skagit Valley and the waters of the Pacific Ocean. Our family has strong ties to the commercial fishing industry in the Pacific Northwest; we have first-hand knowledge of the wonders, joys, and power of the sea. In 1983, we lost fourteen men and two boats in the Bering Sea, including our Father, Uncle and Cousin in this tragedy that devastated our community. In the months that followed, our Gram comforted us with stories of bunnies who survived many hardships and now thrived in her garden. Hearing these tales helped to mend our broken hearts and soothed us to sleep at night. We began crafting our own adventures and sewing cloth characters to bring our stories to life. Our whimsical world became “Cricket Island”, and our new imaginary friends were modeled after the brave people surrounding us. Nearly four decades later we continue to spin new tales, sew new friends, and embark on new adventures – all from “Cricket Island” where our story began.
