Welcome!

ecorative lighting gets my vote as one of the easiest ways to add magic to any outdoor space, but particularly at this time of year. Apart from anything else, few things distract the eye from a lessthan-lovely corner or a tired paint job than a heap of sparkles! There’s festoon lighting draped around my deck and solar bulbs dotted around the garden, but who could Make your own ikebana vase! See page 71

While neighbours can help keep an eye on your property when you’re on holiday, outdoor security cameras will do the job 24/7. Increasingly affordable, they offer a range of great features including human detection, face recognition, night vision, motion alerts and nifty built-in cameras with your doorbell. One of the handiest components is a remote answering system, allowing you to speak to welcome (or unwelcome) visitors, wherever you are, from your phone or PC!

Dress up a wall or fence with a scented climber, like star jasmine or New Zealand native clematis.

After applying fertiliser around edible plants, delay harvesting for a few days and rinse well before cooking and eating. If using products to deal with pests, diseases or weeds, always read the label, follow the instructions carefully and wear suitable protective equipment. DULUX OFFERS A PEEK AT HOW WE’LL USE PAINT HUES IN OUR HOMES IN 2022 The challenges of the past two years are influencing our interior decor choices. Some seek calm with earthy neutral hues and soft shapes, while others are rejoicing in the bold and playful, exploring daring colour combinations. Dulux’s 2022 Colour Forecast channels these new moods into three palettes: the comforting Restore, adventurous Flourish and rejuvenating Wonder. Each of the hues works with every other colour in its palette, so the hard work of mixing and matching, finding the right neutral and choosing accents that pop (and don’t clash!) has been done for you. Get ready to be inspired.  bunnings |

Walls ready for a refresh? A pro-level job starts with a perfectly prepped surface

T

he secret to a quality paint job is in the prep. Okay, it’s not the most glamorous part of the task, but it’s one step you won’t want to skip. The work you put in beforehand will deliver you a finish to be proud of and, with help from Selleys, it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3.

1. GET CLEANING Start by washing your walls. Selleys Sugar Soap cuts through grease and grime (if only all cleaning was so easy!). Put down a drop cloth to protect your precious floors and pull on some rubber gloves. Remove any nails or hooks from the wall, then use sandpaper to sand over any rough or flaky bits. Dilute some Sugar Soap in a bucket with water (as per packet instructions) and use a cloth to wash off any dirt, dust and scuff marks. Done!

2. TACKLE DINGS Don’t let dents and nail holes ruin your paint job. With a ready-to-use filler like Some products are not available at all Bunnings stores, but may be ordered.

Selleys Spakfilla Rapid, covering over the cracks is an easy job for any DIYer. Simply apply a small amount of Spakfilla Rapid to the included scraper and draw it across the hole or dent. Skim over the area in both directions a few times to push out air bubbles, then firmly draw down the surface, leaving a small amount of overfill. Allow to dry, as per pack instructions, then lightly sand smooth and brush off the dust.

3. FILL THE GAPS The last thing your beautifully painted walls need is a gappy border around every architrave, window or door frame. Selleys No More Gaps Multipurpose makes filling gaps so much easier, thanks to the easy-squeeze tube, and it’s great for getting into those awkward corners. Make sure you’re starting with a clean, dry surface – give it a wipe before you start. Cut the tip of the tube at a 45-degree angle and gently squeeze it into the gap. Use a wet

finger to smooth over the top and clean up any excess with a damp cloth. Give it at least 20 minutes to dry before painting over it with water-based paint, or allow 24-48 hours if using ceiling or oil-based paints. Now for the fun part: brushing colour on your beautifully prepped walls!

Quick fix

Revamp your splashback

Declutter Culling unwanted items from cupboards will free up valuable space, allowing you to develop a streamlined storage system. To maximise capacity, consider decanting dry goods into square stackable containers, corral spices into racks and use tiered inserts and drawer dividers to give everything a designated spot.

Splashback TLC Revive splashback grout with mould killer, fill any gaps with a sealant and re-whiten discolouration with a grout pen. If dated tiles are bringing the whole room down, consider changing up the colour with a specialist paint product such as Dulux’s ‘Renovation Range’ Tiles & Benchtops.  bunnings |

Furnish Add seating to make your kitchen bench welcoming. Check your worktop has a comfortable overhang and choose bar stools that complement your look. New handles “Changing cabinetry handles is like putting on jewellery – it’s instantly transformative,” says DIY specialist Natasha Dickins of Little Red Industries (littleredindustries.com), who recommends opting for a new style but sticking to the same size, so you can use existing holes. Deep clean Ahead of their festive workout, give the oven and dishwasher a thorough clean. Tackle the cooktop with a cleaner suited to your surface, and make light work of the oven with a specialist product.

New fittings

Dedicate a day

Retile the splashback A new tile in a statement colour or pattern will inject personality. “This is a great project for a skilled DIYer and there’s plenty of how-to videos online to master the technique,” says Natasha. Finish with a grout sealer to protect against stains. New fittings Have a new sink and tap installed by a plumber. For a straightforward switch, Natasha advises checking that the new sink will fit the cavity underneath and work with your chosen tap and outlet location. Allow a day for the silicone to dry before trying out your new set-up.

Benchtop swap A stylish new surface adds wow factor. Briony Mikrou of Kaboodle Kitchen recommends an independent laminate or timber top screwed from the underside of cabinet support rails into the benchtop. “Replacing your benchtop with the same thickness top and updating your tiled splashback at the same time will also make installation easier.” 

Paint it Replace flooring Refurb flooring For a new look and feel underfoot, lay a floating floor over your existing lino or tiles. There are plenty of click-together laminate systems available and, for improved insulation, invest in good-quality foam and foil underlay. “For DIY installation, use a floor-laying kit and white rubber mallet that won’t leave marks,” says Natasha.

Update windows Enhance your outlook with new window coverings. Rather than fine Venetians, which can be tricky to wipe down, try roller blinds in an easy-clean textile or timeless plantation shutters such as the DIY ones from EasyAS. Worktop revival “To update laminate benchtops, one option is to paint the benches with specialist paint,” says Natasha Dickins. “For a more luxe look, use a coating system like Rust-Oleum, which comes with the full kit to make old laminate look like new granite. veryone wants to enjoy peace of mind and minimise their chance of being a statistic, but you don’t have to lock the place up tighter than Fort Knox to keep your home safe. It’s a simple matter of working smarter, not harder – and you might be surprised to discover how hassle free and inexpensive that can be.

OLD-SKOOL COOL

Sometimes the simplest, low-tech deterrents are the most effective.

Prickly reception

A sound plan

Creating a perimeter of gravel around your home makes it virtually impossible for potential intruders to approach silently. If a seamless surround of crushed rock isn’t practical, strategic stretches of gravel below access points like windows are a great start.

Thorny plants such as roses and bougainvillea are as beautiful as they are functional, and their naturally spiky branches will make a potential intruder think twice. Plant climbing roses or position rose bushes near windows, where they can be your home’s prettiest security features. While roses can thwart unwanted visitors, don’t let them grow big enough to obscure entry points and create hiding places

The extra security offered by screens includes keeping mozzies out

Window upgrade

Sure, glass can be broken, but window locks may still stymie burglars, who are less likely to make an access attempt that involves noisy breaking glass or the time and effort required to crack a window frame. Screen doors, available in a wide variety of colours and sizes, and which can be manufactured to spec if required, provide an extra layer of security. 54 bunnings.co.nz |

Don’t keep a spare key under the doormat! It’s simple to install a wall-mounted key safe and customise the access code to something you and the kids will always remember. If you’re renting, lock a portable version to a fence or handrail. bunnings

Deadbolts on exterior doors will make it harder for thieves to make off with larger valuables such as a TV, even if they do manage to get in through a window. However, for safety when you’re at home, leave the key in the deadbolt. If you need to exit your home in a hurry – for example, to escape a fire – you won’t need to waste precious seconds fumbling for the key. If you’ve got a shed full of expensive tools, remember that a flimsy padlock can be snipped in seconds using bolt cutters. “Opt for a maximumsecurity padlock with a boron carbide shackle,” says Steven Swinfield of Master Lock. “This is one of the hardest materials known, and it is nearly impossible to cut.”

For maximum versatility, try a smart lock on your front door. If the rellies are already pulling into the driveway and you’re stuck in traffic 20 minutes away, you can simply let them in using your smartphone. Some models include traditional keyed access along with touchpad entry and wireless access, offering you the best of all worlds while also providing a rock-solid first defence against break-in. A bluetooth key safe is another high-tech solution for keeping out unwelcome visitors while allowing those you trust to let themselves in. “Simply download the free app to organise access for people such as tradies, home-care nurses and cleaners,” says Steven.

The eyes have it

Today’s security cameras are simple to set up. Wi-fi connectivity is a popular feature, allowing you to see what’s going on from your smartphone, while units with motorised pan/tilt functions also let you point the camera at exactly what you wish to see. Many cameras, including those integrated into smart doorbells, include a two-way intercom function so you can talk to whoever you’re looking at. It’s just as useful for letting a delivery driver know you’re coming downstairs as it is to scare away someone acting suspiciously on your doorstep.

Spot-on security

Motion-activated outdoor floodlights have been around since forever, but today’s smart solutions are packed with bright ideas. Besides the outdoor sensor lights we’re all familiar with, many of which feature solar charging, smart globes are upping the ante indoors as well. Controlled via your home wi-fi, some can learn your natural patterns of what times of day, week and year you switch them on and off. Then, when you’re away on holidays, your lights will pretend you’re still at home! bunnings |

any Kiwi households rent – one in three, in fact – but even if it’s not your name on the deed, you can still make a rented home your own. With a few styling tips and a touch of creativity, it’s possible to create a chic, personal oasis without spending a fortune. Stylist Shelby George (placesand graces.com) rents an apartment in central Auckland and says adding a personal touch will have a positive impact on your home life. “Our homes are ultimately an extension of ourselves,” says Shelby. “It’s important to create a space that feels personal to you, and one that evokes a sense of joy and calm.” Get started with these top 10 tips to take your rental interiors from drab to fab.  bunnings.co.nz |

Paint it

A new coat of paint is the best budget-friendly way to transform your rental – with landlord approval, of course. “Paint can do so much for such a little cost,” says Shelby George. “If you want to take it easy, paint one wall or the ceiling. If you don’t like it you can paint it white again!” For interior walls, Dulux colour specialist Davina Harper recommends a low sheen paint, like Dulux Wash & Wear low sheen. “It hides surface imperfections better than other finishes,” she says.

2

Lighting fixes

3

Tile tips

Simply changing an unattractive light shade or switching out a light bulb can work wonders to brighten and modernise a rental. “Changing a really awful-looking bulb to a lovely, big, clear ‘dolly’ bulb and removing the shade can make a big difference,” suggests Shelby. Or try DIY pendant lights, which fit onto an existing batten fix, so you can create a lighting statement without calling in an electrician. Shelby also suggests adding ambience with lamps. “Lamps provide mood lighting,” she says. “It makes the space feel more inviting.” Plus you can take the lamps with you when you leave!

Elbow grease can go a long way towards overhauling grubby tiles, but it won’t fix tacky ones. If you’re set on a fresh look, painting them is a great option (again, you’ll need landlord permission). Look for a specialist product such as Dulux’s ‘Renovation Range’ Tiles & Benchtops, available in various colours. 58 bunnings.co.nz |

Camouflage with plants

Greenery is a great way of bringing a space to life. Melissa King, horticulturalist and Northcote Pottery ambassador, suggests grouping plants together in varying heights. It’s important to choose the right houseplant for the particular area of the house, says Daltons gardening expert Scott Bromwich. “Many houseplants originate from the floor of tropical forests which means they tend to prefer a semi-shaded position,” he explains. “However, generally, green-leaved foliage plants prefer shade, while plants with coloured leaves prefer full (filtered) light. Flowering varieties such as chrysanthemums thrive with exposure to sunlight... but don’t place plants against windows in direct sunlight as their leaves will burn quickly.”

Personal touches like a soft throw, textured cushions and vintage furniture give an instant lift

Accessorise!

There’s nothing like a few botanical housemates to inject a bit of life into a room – and they help purify the air, too

Photography (above) Cath Muscat, styling Tilly Roberts, (left) Michelle Holden, styling Tilly Roberts; (opposite) photography Dulux/ Lisa Cohen, styling Bree Leech. Paint colours may vary on application.

Including your own choice of accessories is sure to add a personal touch. Bedding, towels, cushions, throws, artful displays of trinkets, even a new shower curtain can all deliver a hit of individual style.

6

Upcycle

Filling your home with beautiful furnishings you love will work wonders to make the place your own – and distract from those things you can’t change. If your furniture has seen better days, why not try your hand at repainting or reupholstery? There are lots of ideas online with step-by-step instructions on how to transform a piece once possibly destined for the roadside into something sleek and stylish.

7

Fixtures and fittings

Updating old cabinet hardware in the bathroom or kitchen can often have a dramatic impact, and installing them is super easy. Just take note of the hardware in the rest of the house to keep it looking cohesive. “If there’s a lot of chrome everywhere, it would be nice to stick with chrome or go for a brushed nickel,” advises Shelby. “I wouldn’t add brass or copper if it doesn’t feel cohesive with the rest of the house.”

8

Rug up

Rugs provide the perfect quick fix to deal with tired or unsightly flooring. “People often don’t go big enough on their rug sizes – a larger rug is going to cover more of that ugly flooring,” explains Shelby, who suggests placing rugs under dining tables and beds, and even on the kitchen floor. “Always add an underlay to hold them in place and stop any kind of stretching over time,” she adds.

9

Curtain call

Upgrading your window coverings can have a huge impact on your interiors. “It’s so easy to take off existing curtains and store them, and put them straight back up if you leave,” says Shelby. Her go-to is always a set of white sheer curtains. “Add some luxury by allowing them to pool on the floor,” she suggests. Try lightweight curtains with spring-fitted poles, which can be placed inside a window frame or embrasure without fixings. 

Use artworks as a finishing touch to complement the overall look of a room

7 8 9

Work of art

Hanging artwork is the best way to give personality to a rental, says Shelby. Small holes in plaster walls are easily fixed with filler, sanding and a touch up with paint, but not every artwork requires a nail. Small or unframed pieces can be placed with Blu-Tack, while removeable picturehanging strips can take the weight of a small painting – check the packaging to make sure you don’t exceed the maximum hanging weight.

Keep in mind... Always seek permission from your landlord before embarking on any permanent change. Tenants can now request to make minor changes to rental properties. Landlords will need to receive the request in writing and respond within 21 days. For more information visit: tenancy.govt.nz/ law-changes/phase-2/tenants-making-minor-changes-to-the-property.

Time to trade up?

With airconditioning, an upgrade can save you money. The Minimum Energy Performance Standards mean a 15-year-old system uses around three times the energy of a new one to cool the same area*. Check the unit’s energy label; the more stars the better. Match an airconditioning system to your space. Assess the volume of a room – length by width by height – then factor in insulation, its ability to gain and retain heat, and the climate. Use calculators online, or the Bunnings Measure and Quote service‡ (subject to COVID restrictions).

The eco way to air con

In summer, the aim of airconditioning is to feel comfortable, not like you’re in a supermarket dairy aisle! For maximum cooling efficiency, energy provider Genesis advises setting your thermostat to 20-22°C. A lower setting 64 bunnings.co.nz |

won’t cool the space any quicker, but will make your unit work harder. Also, try creating cool zones; rather than airconditioning the whole house, stick to the main living areas. Turn to technology. Activate devices before the house overheats and switch them off when a room empties. The Carrier wi-fi controller lets you control your microclimate using Google Home or Alexa, so you can switch it on via your smartphone while in transit for a cool welcome home.

Fan fair

A fan can make a big difference to your comfort level. They cost about two cents per hour to run and reduce the ‘feels like’ temperature by 2-3°C** – until the mercury hits 30°C, when they just move hot air. Reserving airconditioning for 30°C plus days and using fans the rest of the time is one way to save on cooling costs.

bunnings

At the building stage, orient windows to face north and minimise glass along the west. Position doors and windows to encourage cross-ventilation. For existing houses, think about replacing solid doors or windows with louvres to maximise breezes and fit flyscreens so you can throw open doors. Open windows to invite in cool breezes in the late afternoon, then ventilate the opposite side of the house to chase out warm air. Outdoor shading, including awnings and pergolas, can help to block heat, while a green screen of trees is unsurpassed in its cooling effect; if winter sun is a priority, choose something deciduous. Use curtains or blinds on the inside, particularly on west-facing windows. Keeping out the heat – and retaining the cool – also comes down to insulation. If you don’t have any, or it’s old and ineffective, now’s the time to upgrade, if only with good ceiling insulation, to reap the comfort and ongoing energy savings. Follow these tips to find a fan that’s right for you. Electrics 101 Know your DCs (direct current) from your ACs (alternating current). DC is the latest wave of fans, which are quieter and use up to 70 per cent less energy. AC motors connect directly to the power source, whereas a DC motor connects via an inbuilt electronic converter. Blades of glory Fans with more blades are quieter, while those with fewer blades create a bigger breeze. Reverse it For winter warmth, look for a ceiling fan with a reverse cycle program, which will rotate blades in a clockwise direction at a low speed to circulate warm air from the top of the room. Time your use Fans make you feel cooler by blowing across your skin, evaporating tiny droplets of moisture and, as such, they only work when you’re in the room. Fans with a timer, such as the Euromatic pedestal fan, mean you won’t forget to turn them off. Arlec’s ceiling fan with Grid Connect can be operated by a smart device. Make a statement A fan can also be a design feature. Try the Mercator ‘Flinders’ ceiling fan for a modern look, or go for a sleek, industrial style with the HPM stainless steel ‘Hang Sure’. A fan can also make the most of a high vaulted ceiling or a stairwell cavity, by using a downrod to suspend it at the right height. Note: Ceiling fans should be at least 2.1 metres from the floor and at least 300mm from the ceiling. All electrical work must be carried out by a licensed electrician.

DROUGHT-PROOF YOUR PATCH

HACK THE HEAT HOW TO SAVE YOUR THIRSTY GARDEN FROM SUMMER STRESS AND PREVENT PLANTS FROM BECOMING PARCHED Words JANE WRIGGLESWORTH

P

lants have a much better chance of surviving drought and scorching heat if they are set up to withstand these stresses in the first place. “You can prepare for dry spells well ahead of time by drought-proofing the soil itself with generous additions of water-retaining compost; homemade is best!” says Robert Guyton of the South Coast Environment Society (sces.org.nz).

Minimise water loss

Bare soil quickly loses moisture, so mulch is your first defence. A five centimetre layer of chipped bark, pea straw, coir or untreated wood chips will greatly improve moisture retention on hot days. Mulch also helps to suppresses weeds and supplies nutrients to the soil as it breaks down. But don’t over apply – too much will prevent water getting in and may restrict air to the soil and suffocate plants. Before mulching, add compost to your soil to help it absorb and hold onto moisture, or try a soil wetter such as SaturAid to improve water retention. Make sure you water before applying mulch and keep it away from the stems and trunks of your plants to prevent them rotting.

Be water wise

Water early in the morning or early evening to minimise evaporation. A good soak rather than a light sprinkle is the best option. “In hot, dry weather, I give my garden a deep watering two or three times a week,” says garden writer Rachel Clare. “By

Select plants wisely

Plants originating from low rainfall areas, such as parts of South Africa and the Mediterranean, are better suited to summer survival. Look for rosemary, thyme, lavender, rockrose, agapanthus, proteas, leucadendron, Dietes grandiflora (fairy iris), plumbago, gazanias and African daisies. Many of our native plants are dry-tolerant too, such as corokia, coprosma, Griselinia littoralis (Kapuka), muehlenbeckia, Carex buchananii (Buchanan’s sedge) and Brachyglottis greyi (daisy bush). Other droughttolerant plants include salvias, grevilleas, gaura, lindheimeri, lamb’s ears and silverbush.

Hardy leucadendron, a relative of the protea plant, has attractive foliage and flowers Low maintenance and colourful salvia is long-flowering

Grey power

Greywater is the wastewater from showers, baths, basins and laundries that is redirected to the garden. Be aware that setting up a collection and use system for greywater requires a building consent and it must be installed by a certified drainlayer. The greywater is released under the soil rather than on top of it and should not be discharged into food gardens. For a more budget approach, collect greywater in a bucket from an area where there is no contamination risk, 68 bunnings.co.nz |

such as your shower. Tip the water from the bucket onto your non-edible garden or lawn within 24 hours. For added nutrients, incorporate Yates greywater fertiliser, which contains a biocide to help reduce any bacteria. 1 Tape around a length of baking paper to create a flat, nonstick work surface. Condition a piece of clay by rolling it into a 50mm-diameter ball then flatten it into an even 5mm-thick circle with a rolling pin. Roll three equal pea-sized balls of clay. 2 Position the vase upside down on the clay circle, pressing lightly to leave an indent. With a craft knife, trim 5mm out from the indent to remove excess clay. Dip a finger in water and run it around the cut, flipping it over to smooth around both sides.

3 Working on the side with the vase indent, press bamboo straws into the clay to mark eight holes in a random pattern. Cut out the holes with the tip of the craft knife and smooth the edges with a wet finger. Leave the clay pieces to dry for 24 hours. 4 Wearing gloves, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to activate two-part epoxy adhesive on a timber offcut, mixing with a craft stick. Position the balls equally around the inside of the vase indent, secure with adhesive and leave to dry. 5 Using a flat craft brush, apply two coats of paint on both sides and around the edges, leaving to dry after each coat. Fill the vase with water, position the circle on the vase with the balls facing down and arrange flowers in the holes. Note: The balls prevent the circle from slipping off the vase.

EXPERT TIP

HAVE A STANDARD 1M LENGTH OF 180MM X 32MM PINE CUT TO 280MM LONG IN STORE, OR USE A HAND- OR MITRE SAW TO CUT IT TO SIZE

Easy egg storage

Turn a clutch of eggs into a style statement for the kitchen bench with this simple timber tray

Tools & materials

1

n Safety equipment (eye and ear protection, disposable gloves) n Pencil n Ruler n Drill with 4mm drill bit n Quick-grip clamps n Timber offcut n 40mm Forstner bit n Screwdriver n 280mm length of 180mm x 32mm clear pine• n 180-grit abrasive paper n Food-safe wax or tinted oil n Cloths

2

1 With a pencil and ruler, down both ends of the pine, mark halfway (90mm from the sides) and 40mm from either side, then join the marks. On the top and base lines, mark along 65mm, 115mm, 165mm and 215mm. Along the centre line, mark 40mm, 90mm, 140mm, 190mm and 240mm.

Steps photography Sam van Kan. •Timbers vary by region; contact your local store for further information. Paint colours may vary on application.

3

2 Using a 4mm bit, drill 5mm-deep holes on the marks along the top, centre and base lines. Tip: These holes help centre the spade bit to drill the larger egg holes.

4

3 Clamp an offcut of timber on the work surface to protect it from drill marks. Centre a 40mm Forstner bit on the holes to drill through the pine, stopping before drilling through the offcut. Tip: To make the holes, hold the drill vertically and work at a medium speed.

Keep in mind... When using a drill, always wear eye and ear protection. n Always ensure that the finish you use on timber accessories for the kitchen is food safe. n

5

4 Smooth all over the egg tray with 180-grit abrasive paper, rounding over the edges slightly. Wrap the paper around a screwdriver handle and hold it firmly while sanding into the holes. 5 Wearing gloves, apply two coats of food-safe wax or oil with a cloth, leaving to dry after each. Tip: Use a circular motion to rub the wax all over the tray, including into the holes. bunnings |

PLANT PICK

RESILIENT BLOOMS

Floral and hardy These drought-tolerant show stoppers can tough it out

Lavender

This wonderful shrub hails from the Mediterranean, so can handle hot, dry summers. There are many varieties and flowering forms, mostly in pink, white or classic lilac. French lavender (pictured) flowers for most of the year and copes well with subtropical humidity, while English lavender prefers cooler climates.

Portulaca

The low-growing annual succulent is native to South America and known for its drought tolerance. There are many varieties that sport a mass of brightly coloured flowers in red, yellow, pink, white and even stripes. Portulaca thrives in full sun and also does well in pots.

Lavender

(Lavandula spp.)

Portulaca

(Portulaca spp.)

Thrives in hot, dry conditions, but ensure soil is well drained. Grow in pots or use as a low hedge.

Use as a groundcover or a bright show stopper in a pot. It needs at least 6-8 hours of full sun to flower.

Salvia

Cistus

Salvia

A gorgeous plant commonly grown as a perennial, with some annual species. Scented leaves give rise to long spikes of tubular flowers in most colours, including shades of white, red, pink, purple and blue. Plant salvia en masse in garden beds or mingle with hedges or other soft and loose plantings.

Common in the Mediterranean and well suited to hot, dry conditions, this evergreen shrub displays white, pink and purple flowers throughout summer. Easy to care for and also disease, drought and salt resistant, it’s a great choice for adding colour to coastal or rock gardens. FOR MORE PLANTS, VISIT bunnings.co.nz/plants
