BOMONTI COMMUNITY HOUSE

Location: Bomontiada, Osmanbey, IST Bomontiada surrounds different lifestyles (Neighboorhood, textile factories and residences). There is no area of common interaction between these styles. At this point, a unifying attitude was sought. The concept of HALK EVI that existed in our culture was analyzed. At this point, the interaction in terms of ownership and location was taken into consideration. In addition, the design process is based on green space and transition continuityIt is suggested that the library, sculpture and painting workshops, cinema, market area, scene, playground, common interaction in this area.

The area connects two streets with 3 meters level difference. This data is an important factor in deciding to link the two streets together with the grading of the landscape starting from building blocks.

This area is located at the intersection of the different lifestyles. In conjunction with the impermeable structure of the neighborhood, there is a shortcut to increase the interaction between users and users. This area is the intersection of structural blocks and landscape. The design idea based on this intersection was considered to be the continuity of the green area on the neighborhood scale.

TRANSITION IN BUILDING

Conformity analysis of the site in which the site is located was made and a roof form was created. The functional properties of the factory typology are used to capture daylight.

The blocks were designed as large volumes and the spaces where daylight should be effective were created. The reason is to create a large atmosphere in the library, the workplace and the studios.Fractures were formed without deforming the form. Transit and internal circulation were provided without compromising the accepted form.

Location: Bomontiada, Osmanbey, IST

This project creates a new atmosphere around Bomontiada and interacting with the old factory. However, the concept of the public space and the border is intended to be formed within its own meaning. Far Far away from The Earth... People live inward of the borders and prohibitions in the World. Because of this, the atmosphere is getting darker day by day. The monster on a planet whose boundary concept is unknown is aware of this. Photoshop . Illustrator . Making Model

KUZEY BOGAZ KÖYLERI VE

ISTANBUL GIDA AGI

The area is a slope that reaches the sea on a sloping slope surrounded by cliffs. The fact that it is a sloping terrain is advantageous in terms of design. As a first impression, how the site should be located in relation to the tectonic state of the site was provided by cross-sectional and perspective investigations.

25

Along with the slope of the land, the intersections of the roads connected to the site were investigated. Investigation of the positive void created by the research lines was done. Along with the slope of the land, the intersections of the roads connected to the site have been investigated. A search for the positive void created by research lines was made. At the intersection points, five elemental spaces are located, such as ‘wooden space’ with forest, ‘light space’ underground and above ground, ‘water space’ along a line that reaches the sea from where the site meets the road, ‘wind’ the end of the cliffs.

26

The connections between these areas, and the connections that make up the surfaces, were investigated. The organic structure of the product prepared with chemical materials was investigated. At the same time, the experiment of differentiation of light and shadow spaces with material was done.

27

28

Continuous circulation between areas is achieved by network connection between areas. The axes of the defined areas of the spaces were determined. The axes were studied in a compositional way, with different dimensions in relation to each other.

FINE ART SCHOOL

Location: Balat, Fatih, IST This project is located in the historical peninsula, in relation to the historical context in terms of its location, in the point where the neighborhood texture and sociological condition can not be ignored. Since the past in Balat, handicraft and craft have been known as a source of livelihood. The aim is to create public spaces where people interact with the public in the project. These places are art workshops, multipurpose hall, exhibition spaces that can be used by local people at all hours of the day.

The area is located on the Golden Horn coast line. In the same way, it is situated as a transitional zone between the neighborhood and the coastline. Historical and touristic sites located around the site were considered interaction with the site. The Bulgarian church, which is adjacent to the site, provided data in an interactive way with the site.

In the context of the area, the research on the structure and the relations between the commercial areas, the social areas and the neighborhood were considered in the solution of the design and the function of the structure and relational analysis.

37

As a result of the analysis of the neighborhood building blocks, factors affecting the structural and urban scale consistency were determined. The transitional state between structures at this point has affected the form.

Balat is a large area with a historic district and many historical sites. Relations established with the Golden Horn due to the coast of Balat have great significance from the past. Historically, the Golden Horn has been a caretaker of the shipyard. ‘’ Constructions are like an anchor we connect our memories, perhaps because they have been standing for longer than human life. How good are they? If they are made of stone, cement or marble, they will not keep them alive forever. They can easily go away in a day. “ Karl Marx’s ‘ALL SOLID MELTS INTO AIR’’ motto is used as a design point of departure in this context. At this point, the relationship between the site and the Golden Horn is investigated by associating it with the ghost lines of the shipyards that have existed since the past.

38

While designing the relationships of interior functions, it was also designed in the outer spaces. When designing the void, the neighborhood’s streets, bus stops and green area continuity were taken into account. The courtyard of the educational structure was solved at -3 level because it was a private area. It was separated from the public area and left to the user class. UNCHARTED SPACE WORKTEAM

Uncharted Space is a group that investigates structural geometry researches and material memory, together with the body interaction and its integration with the space in which it is located. During the process, we constructed and built various constructions, focusing on space coverage and clearance, with ‘lightweight’ and ‘tensile’ materials. Instead of pre-designed forms, we have created spaces that are dominated by geometries that pass through long openings, gained by muscle interaction and body interaction. We developed a metadology where the design was completed during the construction process, the use of ordinary industrial materials was reversed, geometry and form were correlated with each other. By constructing the DNA of our installations on the basis of these ideas, we provide a continuity in our approach. Research . Making Model Directed by Ali Onat Türker & Onur Eker

UNCHARTED SPACE WORKSHOP 2017

Location: Kadir Has University, Cibali, IST In this workshop, an art installation was studied with group of students by directors Ali Onat TĂźrker and Onur Eker at Kadir Has university A gate entrance. The aim was to redefine the entrance as an exhibition and insallation space to build permanent structure. To build the structure, existing roof structure and iron beams was used as a template and fabricated metal elements were attached to these beams with the metal grippers. After that, tension ropes were hanged and strecthed between rings that are located endpoint of the fabricated metal elements. Gap between boundry ropes, were filled with short tension ropes by using triangulation method. The triangular forms were designed as pieces of curvilinear surface that is suspended with tension rope map from the roof. The enclose the surface, different color of plexiglass triangles edges were drilled and tied with plastic ties. I PLAYED AN ACTIVE ROLE IN ALL PHASES OF THESE STUDIES.

UNCHARTED SPACE WORKSHOPs 2016

Location: Terrace Kadir Has University, Cibali, IST

In this workshop, before making an installation on the upper scale to apply to various exhibitions and biennials, structure was built for experimenting with materials. A methodology was developed in which the use of ordinary industrial materials (ROPE, TAPE, FOIL) was reversed, and geometry and form were correlated with each other. Uncharted spaces of different sizes and skins were created. These spaces are similar to spider webs, consisting of surfaces shaped by the movement of the user. This installation was worked with small models in Terrace Workshop. After, built in Kadir Has University B block. I PLAYED AN ACTIVE ROLE IN ALL PHASES OF THESE STUDIES.

Italo Calvino, Invisible Cities

Octavia, the spider-web city. There is a precipice between two steep mountains: the city is over the void, bound to the two crests with ropes and chains and catwalks. You walk on the little wooden ties, careful not to set your foot in the open spaces, or you cling to the hempen strands. Below there is nothing for hundreds and hundreds of feet: a few clouds glide past; farther down you can glimpse the chasm’s bed. Suspended over the abyss, the life of Octavia’s inhabitants is less uncertain than in other cities. They know the net will last only so long.

ARCH 234 STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS 11 Tutor Ali Onat Türker ( 1 ) Structural experience studies were work that are consist of experiencing of structural elements such as arces, finiculers, catinery forms, hyperbolas ect. Also, structural forces such as compression, tension and bending, were studied in an experimental way to discover new possiblities of structures. Some structural forms were studied together and to design balanced, consistent and working mixed structural forms. In these photos, mixed structures can be seen as a hand models.Structures were consist of dish structure and a dome structure. With tensile robs which are loaded with tension force strenghtened two structure and made balance between them. ( 11 ) In these studies, plaster were determined as a essential material to mold frame structure with pin joints. Each facede was seperated into 4 pieces to create consoled formes. With magnets and little marbles, each consoles were brought together with pin joints. When the structure was balanced itself, it joined with the metal foundation.Magnet joints were used to join the structure to the foundation. With these studies, molding and plaster’s characteristics were experienced both theoretically and physcally. Also, frame structures’ working principles, facades which are working structurally in a building and load flowings in frame structures were understood.

Parametric Design and Grasshopper

Tutors: Orkun Beydagı & Burcu Bicer Saner This studio was consist of works such as Rhinoceros 3d modelling, rendering, parametric design with Grasshopper and designing parametric surfaces with algorithms. Human-body movement and it’s abstract manipulation formed the surface that using as a template for parametric facade.Because of the fludity and action of human-body movement, surface became more organic and curvy which create a good field to think and design parametrically. After experiencing and designing the surface a piece of component located to the surfaces and populated over it with the computing program ‘Grasshopper’ which is working with algorithms and functions. The components were specialized according to surface movements and facede could be designed with a dynamic components.

Standart components are consist of two polygon(triangle and hexagon) which are lofted to create a surface

The components that are design according to some parameters(attractor point’s location inside of the surface and point-surface distance). Components’ size are expanding while the distance between attractor point and surface.
