Joshua Huyser Out of Sight Solo Exhibition On view through July 11, 2020
Burnet Fine Art & Advisory is pleased to announce the reopening of the gallery with a new exhibition of watercolors by Joshua Huyser. Out of Sight “is primarily about seeing. It is about the optical. It is about the interaction of light and material. It is about the interaction of pigment and paper. It is about being quiet and bearing witness to simple yet enigmatic visual moments. As the great singer/songwriter Bill Callahan wrote, it is about ‘riding for the feeling.’” – Joshua Huyser Joshua Huyser was born and raised in Montana. He received his M.F.A. at the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History in Iowa City, Iowa in 2001. He has taught at the University of Northern Iowa and Montana State University. In 2002 he was a guest professor and lecturer at the Herzen Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia working with both American and Russian art students. After moving to Minneapolis in 2005 he began working in the commercial film industry while continuing to exhibit nationally. Notable exhibitions include Herrick Gallery, London, England; Biggin Hall Gallery, Auburn University College of Liberal Arts, Auburn, Alabama; 57W57 Arts, New York, New York; and William Beczek Fine Arts, Northampton, MA. Huyser has upcoming exhibitions at Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea, Milan, Italy (2020) and 57W57 Arts, New York, New York (2021). His work has been featured in New American Paintings, Studio Visit Magazine and in Fresh Paint Magazine. Huyser’s works are included in the collections of the The Minneapolis Institute of Art, Minneapolis, MN; General Mills Corporate Collection, Minneapolis, MN; School of Art and Art History, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA; and Herzen University, St. Petersburg, Russia.
