Biography

I started photography (and writing) at school many years ago and progressed to joining the Port Elizabeth Camera Club and the Photographic Society of South Africa equally long ago. They taught me a lot and I am proud to be an honours worker at the club and to hold Associateships in Colour Slides and Published Work from PSSA. In 2009 I was awarded the first (and as far as I know still the only) Fellowship of the Photographic Society of South Africa in Published Works. I have had images and/or articles in a wide range of magazines ranging from Africa: Birds and Birding to ZigZag (a premier surfing magazine) and am particularly proud of my association with Pix, a high-class magazine on photography that has carried many of my articles and images. I also submit images to several international and national stock agencies and my favourites are Gallo, Getty and Ecoscene. In 2011 I started offering photography classes with fellow Eastern Cape photographer Sarah Thexton. She excels in people and pet photography (with patience!) and runs a studio in a leafy suburb in Port Elizabeth. Please look under Photography Tuition for details of up and coming courses. The underlying theme of my photography and writing is a great appreciation of and a strong commitment to the environment. I am available for assignments but regretfully do not photograph weddings. Please look under contact details for how to get hold of me.
