4 Simple Ways To Bond Multiwall Polycarbonate Sheets You know polycarbonate is 250 times stronger than glass and others used instead of bricks and cement to construct the walls. It is very tough against any type of impact. You cannot attach a sheet of polycarbonate to another with the use of ordinary solvents. If you do so, the material will start to craze that leads to have damage or crack marks. It makes the look of your residential or commercial building bad.

In order to keep the look attractive, you should attach your multiwall polycarbonate sheet by using proper methods. You can bond the two sheets together without the use of any physical methods like tapes, screws and rivets. Here are four alternative ways to bond these sheets: Fusing It is the great way to join two pieces of multi-wall sheet. In this method, the joint is invisible and seamless and make the construction resilient and extremely strong. In addition, you will have optimum optical clarity with low investment. To start Fussing, you need Methylene Chloride apart from the sheets made of polycarbonate. For a longer curing time and getting the parts in correct position, you can mix Methylene Chloride with Ethylene DiChloride. Follow the process of Fussing:    

Clean the areas before attaching two pieces of multiwall polycarbonate sheet. Wash the sheets with soapy water after rinsing them with lukewarm water. Use a gentle cloth or sponge to wipe the sheet in the direction of the grain. Do not use a scrubbing material or agent with a rough surface.

    

Apply a small trail of Methylene Chloride or the mixture of Ethylene DiChloride and Methylene Chloride to the edges of the sheet. Leave the sheets for some time to get sticky. Place the edge of a sheet onto the surface of another. Apply some pressure on the sheets to have a stronger bond. Leave them to dry for 48 hours.

Note – You should execute out the entire Fussing process in a well-ventilated area to stay away from the effect of toxin and fumes. The Use of an adhesive If you are looking for cheaper and economical way to bond two pieces of multi-wall sheet made of polycarbonate, like using an adhesive and leave Fussing. Keep in mind that the optical clarity and strength will be lower if you choose using this method, the use of an adhesive. You can use an epoxide glue to bond the sheets like gluing any two materials together. Avoid using any other adhesive as tiny little cracks can appear all over the wall and beneath the surface. Welding It would be better for you not to use Welding to attach the two pieces of your multiwall polycarbonate sheet, as the success rate has never been stable. Some of the people like it to do and hence, it is essential for me to mention this method here. You can use any of two types of Welding – ultrasonic and vibration – to attach the two pieces in constructing walls for your building. This process requires huge capital investment. Lamination If you have sound knowledge of tools and equipment, you can use this process, Lamination, to bond your multiwall sheet. You can use an interlayer material such as transparent Polyurethane for Lamination process.
