Fourth Edition of CII Yi Goa Thought Leadership Conclave held

The Fourth Edition – Thought Leadership Conclave (TLC) 2022 was held at Panaji. The theme chosen for the conclave was ‘India@75: Heading into Amritkaal’ and titled “Amritkaal: India @75 and an onward march towards being Vishwaguru”. The conclave featured eminent speakers like Ami Ganatra, author, Mahabharata Unraveled who spoke on the topic: “Itihasa” and its relevance for India of the Future. Member, Governing Council India Foundation delivered a keynote address on the topic “Emerging World Order: The Indian Opportunity”. Arjun Vaidya, Founder, Dr. Vaidya’s & Angel Investor along with Sriram Natarajan, Founder Director & CEO, Molbio Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd spoke on the topic, ‘Role of Entrepreneurs in the India Story.’ This was the fourth successful edition of the TLC which was attended by 170+ delegates. GOA BUZZ 10th edition of Orchid Awards for Women Achievers

Sulakshana Sawant Asha Arondekar introduced the first ever exclusive Awards for Women Achievers of Goa, to appreciate women for all the hard work that they put in their respective fields and industry. The first Awards function was held in 2011 and from then on, this event has been held every year to celebrate women in all walks of life. This year was the 10th edition of the Orchid Awards for Women. The 8 Award categories are Education, Art & Culture, Sports, Social Work, Journalism, Business, Rural Development, Girl Child Prodigy (age 16 and below). Being the 10th edition, they also had 2 additional Awards given in the Life Time Achievement category.

The Award function was held in the presence of 400 eminent citizens Amol, Niharika and Asha Arondekar of Goa, with women achievers in Goa being in the limelight. Sulakshana Sawant was the Chief Guest, who spoke on empowering women in Goa. The program was supported by Rajesh Tarkar of Rajdeep Builders and Rajesh Dempo of Vision Dempo. The spectacular evening was put up by Asha and her team to honour women of Goa

Dr Caitanno Fernaandes elected as President of Goa Football Association

Dr Caitanno Fernaandes and his panel won a resounding victory at the Goa Football Association elections held recently. He received 83 votes out of 159 and had contested against Savio Alemao and Welvin Menezes. Dr Caitanno has been associated with football for a long time and is the President of Football Club Tuem as well as a member of the Goa Football Development Council. Along with being an avid football fan, he is the Founder and Director of CAM Industrial Services, a business involved in sanitation and waste management services. As President of GFA, Dr Caitanno says that his priority will be to kickstart the Goa Pro League as soon as possible and is willing to sponsor the league. Caitanno will be assisted by Jonathan de Sousa who was elected as VP North and Antonio Pango, VP South Vaikunth Dempo selected as delegate for YEA

The G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance (G20 YEA) is a global network of approximately 500,000 young entrepreneurs and the organisations that support them. To be a part of this delegation, a business should have a social and/or sustainability impact on at least one of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Fernando Amaral Fernandes, Assistant Hotel Manager from Ginger Goa Cluster, The Indian Hotels Company Limited has been felicitated with the BW Hotelier Award for Front Office Manager of the Year (West) 2021-22 at a grand ceremony held at Taj Palace New Delhi, recently. This award has been conferred by a jury panel comprising of seasoned hoteliers after meticulously sifting through 900 applicants across all hotel categories from Western India Region.

Fernando, a seasoned travel and hospitality professional with over 14 years of experience, holds a Hotel Management degree from the prestigious Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Goa and a Marketing Master’s from Symbiosis, Pune.

He is also an FSSAI certified food safety master trainer and holds an advanced lean six sigma yellow belt certification helping him perform internal brand and process audits within the company. His hobbies include adventure sports, photography, concept art and non-fungible tokens (NFTs)

Subrai (Sandeep) T Nadkarni has authored a new book titled, The Khazans of Goa. The book was published by Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) and was released at the hands of the Governor P. S. Sreedharan Pillai. Khazans are reclaimed lands from the river or the sea and these lands were once used for cultivation. The book throws light on efforts made by earlier generations to reclaim riverside lands for cultivation. It is expected to be of use to academicians as well as general public. Heta Pandit’s new book, Stories from Goan Houses was released recently. The book documents the stories of families who have helped shape the state, played important roles, rebuilt and renovated Goan houses and the local legends, stories and myths that lends Goa the distinctive blend of tradition and novelty. The book features 21 homes with photography by Daniel D’Souza and focuses on the lives, struggles and triumphs of the people who are looking after houses. Heta currently lives in Saligao and has had a wide range of career stints in advertising, journalism and has worked with Dr. Jane Goodall in the field of chimpanzee research in Tanzania. After pioneering multiple heritage awareness and action movements in Bombay, she has been living in Goa for the last 26 years, where she co-founded Goa Heritage Action Group in 2000; which is dedicated to the advocacy of preservation, conservation and restoration of Goa’s natural, built and cultural heritage
