This 15,800 seater arena in the centre of Birmingham is the third largest indoor arena by capacity in the UK. It has been home to a whole host of notable sporting events including Netball World Championships, IAAF World Indoor Championships, the European Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastic Championships, the Trampoline World Championships and Premier League Darts since 2007. Arena Birmingham will host artistic and rhythmic gymnastics for the Games.
Located in Perry Barr, just outside of the city centre, the Alexander Stadium is an international-standard athletics venue currently being redeveloped for the Games when it will host the athletics as well as the opening and closing ceremonies. Capacity is being increased from 12,700 to 20,000 to cater for these international events. Home to the world-famous Birchfield Harriers Athletics Club, the stadium has hosted major events, such as the Diamond League series, including the British Grand Prix.
