Japan marks 69 years of self-defense forces

On July 7, Ambassador Kazuhiko Koshikawa hosted a reception for the 69th anniversary of the Japan SelfDefense Forces (JSDF) in his residence, where officers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), government officials, and the diplomatic corps graced the celebration.

A grateful Koshikawa expressed his optimism on the close and dynamic relations currently being experienced by Japan and the Philippines, as he looked back on their numerous milestones in defense engagements.

As he cited President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s official visit to Japan in February, Koshikawa said the “Terms of Reference on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief activities of the JSDF in the Philippines” signing will “broaden existing opportunities
