ounded in 2004, KS Energy Services LLC is a relatively young company. With that youth comes a commitment to ideals and improvements, and KS Energy is no different. The company offers many services in the gas, electric, and telecommunications industries – services ranging from sewer camera inspections to gas distribution and pipeline construction and maintenance to overhead electric and duct installation. It also offers a lot more from community outreach

to improved standards of safety. Concentrating on Safety “In our industry, everyone is committed to safety and creating a safe working environment for their employees,” says KS Energy Services CEO Dennis Klumb, Jr. His own business is also tuned in, working to develop strategies that will create a strong safety culture and improve the standard of safety on a company-wide scale. “We invest a lot of money and resources into our safety department, and what I mean by that is that we have a number of talented professionals within our safety department – employing a staff of ten,” says Klumb. “We’re expanding into Denver right now to perform work for Xcel Energy and the first hire was a new manager, but once we get up and going one of the next hires we will make is a full time safety professional to help oversee safety in that market for us.” Klumb states further that they are also working on a safety App with a software company that will allow paperless safety audits from a smart phone or tablet and will allow

our customers to view these reports through the Internet.” In addition to personnel, KS Energy Services also invests its fair share of time into the topic of safety. “In addition to annual safety meetings we hold quarterly employee safety meetings, separate safety training for any subcontractors that work for us and bi-monthly calls with all of our managers and safety personnel to discuss any concerns or issues involving safety,” Klumb continues. “We have two other sister companies, one in Atlanta and one in Greensboro, North Carolina, and

we’re starting to implement info sharing amongst all of us, so that we’re sharing near misses, training or anything else that might be going on within the industry or our companies.” What’s more, the company has also worked hard to develop an incentive program that will not reward the employees but also help continue to build upon the importance of safety as well as other important company issues. “We started a points-based rewards program that is managed by a third party vendor that we share in,” notes Klumb. “In essence its 5

Giving Back to the Community Safety, employees – these are just two of the many commitments held by KS Energy Services. Another is its dedication to giving back through working with charities and causes. “We’ve always believed in giving back to the communities that we work and live in, so it’s always been an important part of who we are as owners of the company,” says Klumb, counting Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MAAC Fund) and the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin among its largest causes. 2012 in particular was a fun year for KS Energy Services and its charity efforts, seeing both the 8

company and its legal firm join forces with the MAAC Fund. “For every touchdown pass Green Bay Packer Quarterback and NFL and Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers threw during the regular season and playoffs, each company donated $300 to the MAACC Fund. Rodgers threw 42 touchdowns or $12,600 for the MAAC Fund, but we rounded up to $15,000” said Klumb. Last year KS Energy Services was rewarded for its efforts in servicing customers, receiving top honors among WE Energies’ STAR Awards of Excellence. “We were fortunate to receive the highest award they give, which is called the Director’s Award for great overall service,” says Klumb. But that should come as little surprise – when a company takes time and effort in so many ways, it’s only a matter of time before that appreciation comes back in return, and KS Energy has worked hard to earn it every step of the way.”
