ince 1978 Bay Shore Systems has been a leading innovator behind specialized drilling equipment for a wide range of drilling applications. The company prides itself on engineering cutting-edge products that enable customers to reach difficult drilling locations in extremely difficult situations. Since 1991, over 98 percent of Bay Shore’s drilling rigs sold are still at work today. Along with superior products the company’s success can be attributed to its dedicated staff and dependable service. The company maintains a family oriented culture

that values its employees as much as its community. With topnotch products and trustworthy service, Bay Shore Systems is adding value and class to the manufacturing industry. Trendsetters “The heart of our business is foundation drilling equipment,” says Jim Tippett, general manager of Bay Shore Systems. “We’re an OEM that builds foundation drilling equipment but we’re open to taking on new projects to add to our portfolio.” Innovative products require incisive minds, and at Bay Shore Systems new products happen

all the time. The company’s inspired designs are attributed to its extensive research and design team coupled with decades of experience in the foundation drilling and related industries. “Our niche is being innovative and being able to turn out new products in a short amount of time,” says Tippett. “We’re a very nimble company so we can adapt and make changes very quickly.” The company’s team of engineers and specialists are not only responsive and knowledgeable to customer concerns, but they have years of actual drilling

experience. The company takes pride in supplying reliable and quality service, and strives to assist customers in any way they can. “Our service in my opinion and our customers is the best in the industry,” Says Tippett. “We try to get all of our customers back up and running within 24 hours.” Family type of business As innovators of their industry the company works hard to maintain a close-knit company culture. With close to 80 employees, Bay Shore retains a very family oriented atmosphere as employees are all 5

part of the matriarchy. “We’re a very close knit company and we treat our employees like family,” says Tippett. “We offer matching 401k, profit sharing, and we have about eight to ten family functions every year, from minor league baseball and football games to picnics.” Unlike other companies in the industry, Bay Shore practices open book management, allowing employees to see their financial books every month. According to Tippett, it keeps employees involved in operations and the employees are encouraged to 6

speak their minds. “We encourage our employees to speak up and give feedback. Last year our employees came up with ideas on the lean side that saved us $300,000 a year,” says Tippett. Safety and continuous improvements play a critical role at Bay Shore Systems as well. The company has its own improvement group which works to ensure employees are continuously being trained on the various sectors of the company, whether its forklift training, crane training, welding, hydraulics or blue print reading. In addition the company recently hired a safety

director who works hard to make sure employees are following company safety guidelines and practices. “Safety is very important to us and our rating shows it,” says Tippett. “We have one of the lowest workers compensation ratings in the state for our industry because of our safety record. We’re very proud of that. Giving back to the community Along with being innovators in the manufacturing industry, Bay Shore is a leader in its community. The company is one of the founding members of K-Tech, a professional technical school designed to

educate students in technical careers such as diesel mechanics, auto mechanics, welding, machining, engineering, computer technology, and nursing. “As business leaders in the community we realized an opportunity to help students learn professional technical disciplines that haven’t been available for a while,” says Tippett. “So the business community got together and raised $250,000, it was used to purchase property that was donated to the school to build a 50,000-square-feet facility dedicated to these career fields. 7
