With a 98 percent placement rate, Jordan College of the Arts prepares students for careers as artists, performers, arts administrators, teachers, and scholars. With programs in Art, Arts Administration, Dance, Music, and Theatre, we combine conservatory-style programs with a rich liberal arts curriculum. So, after four years of hard work and study, you’ll have a foundation for a fulfilling career, and more importantly, a fulfilling life— turning your artistic passion into a profession.
THE ARTS AT BUTLER
In the heart of Indianapolis is a home for passion, creativity, and innovation: Butler University. With more than 300 student, faculty, and professional performances each year, Butler is a destination for exceptional arts experiences and an incubator for future arts professionals. Home to student performances as well as world-renowned professional productions, the Butler Arts Center includes Clowes Memorial Hall, the
JCA Signature Events brings world-renowned artists to Butler’s campus each semester. In combining student-centered, artistic engagements with externally facing performances, these events both instruct and inspire.
Schrott Center for the Arts, EidsonDuckwall Recital Hall, and Lilly Hall Studio Theatre. As the nexus for arts and culture in Central Indiana, the Butler Arts Center and Jordan College of the Arts connect and enrich students, professionals, and the community.
Clowes Memorial Hall is the anchor of the Butler Arts Center. With 2,123 seats and a half-century of history, the venue remains Indiana’s most versatile and professional performance space. Having welcomed some of the world’s greatest talent and personalities—a star-studded list that includes Maya Angelou, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Itzhak Perlman, Wynton Marsalis, and Sir Elton John—Clowes Memorial Hall continues to provide diverse programming to both Butler students and the broader community each year. It is also home to Butler Ballet’s The Nutcracker and spring productions as well as select performances by the School of Music and Butler Theatre.
CLOWES MEMORIAL HALL
SCHROTT CENTER FOR THE ARTS
The Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts, completed in 2013, is a one-of-a-kind, student- and communityfocused facility. At just 454 seats, but with a full-size proscenium stage, the space is designed to optimize acoustics and sightlines, and is equally well-suited for music, dance, and theatre. The intimate venue is home to many of the Jordan College of the Arts’ performances for the School of Music, Dance, and Theatre departments. It also contains gallery spaces for the Department of Art’s exhibitions, and employs select Arts Administration students each year.
LILLY HALL STUDIO THEATRE
Lilly Hall Studio Theatre is home to Butler Theatre which produces a wide range of classics, world premieres, music theatre, and devised works. This flexible space, which can seat more than 100 audience members, is situated next door to Clowes Hall and hosts three to four productions a year. Eidson-Duckwall Recital Hall is an intimate space designed for

student, faculty, and guest recitals by the School of Music, as well as small concerts, talks, and lectures. Located in Butler University’s iconic Robertson Hall, the performance space, which seats 138, opened in 2004 and includes a 300-square-foot white oak stage.
