Myroleasmanagerrequiresmetoobservealllosspreventionissuesandperformthenecessary disciplinaryactionassociatedwiththem.Whenobservingemployeeissuesandassessingthe disciplinaryactionpreviouslytakeninthepast,Inoticedthecourseofactionforoffenderswas limitedYousimplywerereprimandedonceandfirediftheproblempersistedIinitiallythought thiswasunfairtoouremployeesbecauseeveryproblemdidnotwarrantthesamedisciplinary action.Aftercriticalexaminationofpossiblesolutionstothedisciplinaryprocesswithinour company,Iconcludedmanagementshouldimplementbettertrainingforitsshowmorecontent Rather,itisachievablebyanyonewhoiswillingtoworkhardandpatiently.Threestepsare involved:workingoutthedetailsofthesolution,findingimperfectionsandcomplications,and makingimprovements.("RefineYourSolutiontotheProblem").
Myfirststepinworkingoutthedetailstomyoriginalsolutionwastosimplyaddaverbaland writtenwarningprocessInsteadofanemployeebeingfiredaftertwoinfractions,Iproposedthe companyfirstgiveaverbalwarning.Thenextinfractionwouldbefollowedbyawrittenwarningas wellasspecifictraininginregardstotheinfractionbeingmade.Iftheemployeeweretomake anothermistake,itwouldthenbeuptomanagementtothenterminatetheemployee.
Thesecondstepusedinrefiningthesolutiontomyproblemwastofindimperfectionsand complicationsIrealizedmyideaofimplementingmoretraining,verbalandwrittenwarningsmust firstbepresentedtotheothermanagerswhoworkedwithmeaswell.Irealizedmyideasmaybe metwithnegativefeedbackfrombothco–workersaswellastheemployeeswhoworkedwithusas wellIdecidedbecausethepositiveeffectmyideawouldhaveonthecompanywouldoutweighthe negativefeedback,Iwouldnextfocusmyattentiononthepresentationofmyidea.
