Comments December’s recordings were down a little from last year and last month. Still, 2016 was the best year since 2006. With inventory strongly in the sellers’ camp, except for new condominiums, prices will continue to rise. While still historically low, mortgage rates will move up more than short rates as the year progresses. The very strong stock market will also give housing a boost.

WHATCOM County Washington 2016
Projections for 2016 (in italics) Overall sales were down by units and dollars recorded from last October which indicates flat to lower sales for 2016. Existing values increased while the dollars per square foot dropped. Recorded sales were up 4% as were the dollars per square foot Real Estats expects sales of existing single family homes to record close to 3,000 units this year. New single family detached could record 290 units. Existing homes did exceed 3,000 with 3,130 New single family detached only recorded 250 units Overall residential sales will be flat with higher prices. Overall residential prices were up 7% with recordings up 4%
