Welcome FROM HARVIE RANCHING
On the Hereford side, we are excited to profile the first sire groups of Bourbon 126H, Steward 98G and Fresh Prince 018 ET sons on offer in Canada. The Charolais herd sires are highlighted by Tried & True and Laredo again this year, and new sires, Headmaster and Horizon.
Welcome to the Harvie Ranching 14th Annual Bull Sale. We are pleased to present a strong offering of Hereford and Charolais bulls for your consideration. The bulls are a representation of the predictable cow families we’ve been building upon for many years. We continue to put an emphasis on enhancing quality genetics utilizing industry leading herd sires. Customer feedback provides key information for ongoing breeding improvements and the Herdtrax system is a fantastic tracking tool that enables constant evaluation of performance and herd health.
Over coffee we often chat about what sets our program apart and how we can continuously deliver the best bulls suited to our customer needs. We feel certain that our Charolais herd advantage is a strong consistent base of females whom continue to prove themselves. These cow families run deep, and we rarely sell females, as a result, we find ourselves with predictable offspring from generations of hard working matriarchs and their daughters. As for the Herefords, we continue to retain key cow families with a considerable amount of embryo transfer to expedite the production of top quality matings.
Since last year’s bull sale, we’ve enjoyed delivering bulls, participating in brandings and connecting with friends at events. In the fall, Cole traveled to Chihuahua, Mexico to judge the National Angus show. Upon his return, we exhibited 10 head including the Champion Female at Alberta Hereford Showcase. Tinley & Lyla won Champion and Reserve Champion Females in the Junior Show and both won their showmanship divisions as well. Mid November we held an online Hereford Female and genetics sale which was a success. The next week, we ventured to Regina with a Hereford string to Canadian Western Agribition and brought home the Premier Exhibitor award, Reserve Champion Female and a few division Champions as well. In December, Jill received Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee for her Agriculture advocacy efforts from the Alberta Agriculture Minister Nate Horner. The year was filled with kids activities involving horses and cows which to us, is enjoyable and rewarding.
This year’s bull sale allows for us all to reunite and enjoy warm hospitality at our bull facility. We welcome you to join us for a tour of the bulls in advance of sale day if you wish, the coffee is always on. On sale day, please join us for a tasty homemade meal, refreshments and a great set of bulls for purchase.
Sincerely,
Cole, Jill, Tinley and Lyla Harvie
