Checklist: How to Create & Sell your Own Info Products There are many type of info products you can create that people are willing to buy if the content is up-to date, relevant and helps them to solve their problems on a particular topic/niche.

Here's some types of digital information products you can create:        

eBooks Reports Video Courses Articles Autoresponder Newsletters Checklists Cheatsheets eCourses

They are many others, but these are the most common and best to start off with.

Is the thought of selling your own product intriguing but also overwhelming at the same time? Here is a checklist to get you started.

1. Research your target market & come up with an idea for your product.

I could go into great detail on this step, but I’ll make it short and sweet. The following three criteria must be met.

Choose a topic where…   

People are looking for information.

They are willing to spend money on that information.

You, personally, are at least moderately interested and knowledgeable about this topic.

Although the third point is optional, I recommend it if you are going to stay interested and motivated to promote your ebooks for months and years to come. You have the option of choosing something you love or something that is popular. Make work fun by choosing a market that you enjoy.

2. Purchase a Domain name.

Important things to keep in mind when choosing a URL are:      

Make it memorable.

Make it short.

No numbers or dashes.

Easy to spell.

Descriptive of your product.

It should end in a .com (not a .net, .org, or .biz – unless you have a darned good reason to do so)

Also, if this is going to be your main site, be sure to buy any similar domains to protect your branding. Or secure them once you can afford them.

You get people that will try to steal your brands traffic by registering your domains in different extensions like the .net, .info etc You can buy your domain names anywhere, but I recommend: www.GoDaddy.com I have been buying from them for 7 years, with fantastic support and one of the best domain registrars in the world, so at least you'll have peace of mind that your domain name is safe.

3. Purchase Hosting.

I recommend dreamhost.com for many reasons, including:  Excellent customer service.  Reliable uptime.

4. Load autoresponder/set up squeeze page while developing product.

5. Using a autoresponder email marketing tool is critical for any marketer.

The 2 best autoresponder for internet marketers, affiliates and marketing coaches are: 1. Aweber 2. GetResponse There's a reason why millions of marketers choose one of those companies for email marketing solutions..Because their inbox delivery rates are amazing!

Your autoresponder will manage multiple lists, like subscribers, buyers, students and affiliates. It will grow with your business by automating your marketing, relationship building and sales.

You'll need to create an autoresponder series and load it into your autoresponder so that it can automatically send your list emails which helps them and builds a relationship that will lead to loyal subscribers.

You HATE writing? Me too!

So what's your options?

Option 1: Purchase autoresponder series with PLR in your niche, which means you can use those emails, edit them and load them into your autoresponder to save time.

Option 2: Purchase some high quality content (PLR Articles) in your niche, slightly edit them by adding your own in-sights and adding some call to actions like freebie downloads, your own product offers, affiliate product offers or anything you think can help them reach their goals and solve their problems.

The BIG FACT is...

People buy through email!

So having a series of emails that gives your list valuable info and sells quality info products to them that helps them is a must for you.

Many times they will land up thanking you for it!

If you don’t have a squeeze page, there's a few options you can use get setup one very quickly.

Here's a few options for getting a squeeze page setup in the next few minutes: Ready-Made List Building Toolkits - Browse for PLR, Master Resell Rights and Resale Rights products that contains a report or ebook with a squeeze page that you can use to build your list.

Landing Page Monkey - Grab a copy of Landing Page Monkey for a onetime fee and be able to build unlimited squeeze pages and sales pages without ever needing hosting. All pages made with LPM is mobile responsive too, which is great.

OptimizePress 2.0 - I use this personally for my membership, sales page and some squeeze pages. My internet marketing video training membership uses OptimizePress 2.0 which is a WordPress theme and Plugin, it has both options. I use the theme though.

Lead Pages - A Landing page tool which is web based and is used by some of the world's top marketers, the only reason I don't use it is because I prefer one-time pricing options, Lead pages offers monthly pricing options.

By setting up your squeeze page first, you can start to develop a list of people interested in your topic. That will help you later when you launch – you'll have an instant boost for your new product.

6. Develop your product.

Don’t know how? Here are some options…

Option 1- Create a high quality free report that you offer from a squeeze page in exchange for a opt in signup (a subscribers email address with permission to email them) How to do this?

Write 7-15 pages on your topic, you can use PLR article packs as idea generators which speeds up the writing process quite a lot, if the PLR you pickup in very high quality, you may even land up making little to no changes.

Option 2 - Buy a readymade list building report (also called a lead magnet) that already has a nice eCover which is ready to be used to build your list. You can make changes to it as well if you feel the need to do so.

Here's a list of the best PLR sites for PLR content, reports and eCourses that is ready-made and focuses on the big evergreen niches.

Option 3 - I did this personally and if you can afford to do it and you're in the internet marketing niche, I recommend it. Join Automated List Profits, which is a membership site that offers you 2 branding new list building toolkits (report+squeeze page+affiliate resources) which is ready for you every month on new in-demand IM topics.

There's a is a yearly and lifetime option, and as you know me, I always go with lifetime if I can afford it as you never know when a rainy day will arise in your business. OR Record an interview with an expert, have it transcribed and sell it. It's really easy if you use www.audioacrobat.com OR Hire a ghostwriter to create a custom product for you.

6. Order graphics or create them yourself.

You’ll need, at the bare minimum: An eCover for your product At least one banner and button to promote it.

A professional header or mini-site design can also convey a professional image. Using one of the landing page builders I recommended solves this for you and it's what I use. Rebranding Your PLR If creating new graphics and changing the way your PLR looks seems a bit overwhelming for you, here's an in-depth video course that will show you how to rebrand your PLR content and products, step-by-step.

It's called Your PLR Makeover 7. Create a sales page.

This is a highly important piece.

For best results, unless you have studied copywriting, I recommend that you hire a skilled writer to draft it for you.

I highly advise that you use WordPress for your pages, it's very easy to manage and highly customizable. There's lots of great themes and plugins you can use to setup a PRO looking website or blog within a few minutes.

My Theme Shop - I really love the flat look in themes, their themes are very clean, well designed with great after sale support. I use them on tons of my mini sites.

8. Create a thank you/download page.

Your download page should contain a few basic pieces:  Who you are  How to contact you  Download instructions  Download links (of course)  What company name will show up on their paypal statement or credit card statement.  Any bonuses they were promised and how to claim them.

9. Load the sales page, thank you page, & product to site.

If you’ve never done this before, you can either outsource the task or use a free program like FileZilla Here's a techie course in store that will teach you how to setup your sales funnel step by step. It's Sales Funnel Setup Series, it comes with a PLR license so you can rebrand and resell it after you learn from it.

10. Decide on a payment processor. (Figure out how you’re getting paid.)

JVZoo - I love JVZoo, it's one of my favorite places for selling digital products. They offer PayPal with instant payouts and handle the entire payment process for you and delivers your product if you prefer to not have a download page.

Clickbank - Very easy to use and popular for that reason.

Paydotcom - PayDotCom is one of the worlds largest and fastest growing online marketplaces and catalog's thousands of products and services, as well as both digital and physical products.

If all of those options sound overwhelming right now, then a simple PayPal button will work just fine for now.

11. Once the pages are loaded, notify your lists. (Tell your friends.)

Contact the following people about the product:   

Your leads lists.

Your customer lists.

Your JV partners

If you don’t have lists, don’t panic. Just move ahead to the next step.

12. Create affiliate tools and notify your affiliates. (Get your Sales Army on the March.)

If you have affiliates, TELL them about your new product and let them promote it for you. Why not have your team of affiliates promoting it for you?

You can browse our graphics templates section, there's many graphics packs that come with a developer license, which you can customize yourself to create affiliate tools and many other types of graphics. This will require the use of Photoshop as the files are in PSD format.

OR You can hire someone on fiverr.com to create a set of graphics for you, although this option does cost a bit more than doing it yourself. But it's also a time saver.

4. Text ads But, of course, there are many more tools that you’ll wish to offer. Just get started with these.

13. Continue promoting your new product. (Market the heck out of it.)

Don’t forget to promote the report like you would any of your other products.        
