hello

Welcome readers, Apologies to any readers last week for sending you the wrong way back in time it was a slip of the tongue of course I was meaning to say put your clocks forward! It is Sunday evening and although as a Spurs fan I should be watching the big game against Liverpool but I decided to play safe and sit down to some writing, (when I say play safe this is because we always lose if I’m watching, I guess this didn’t help us this weekend) After losing the hour of sleep last night I am off to bed early to make amends but not before I finish here and see what time darkness falls, I am looking forward to the longer evenings as there is so many advantages for me, one of which is to come home and take my dog for an evening walk in the daylight. The weather this last week has been a little cooler than normal and with a strong wind at times it can feel quite cold however if you find a sunny spot then my suggestion is to stay put! In fact it is so nice to be in the sun, its warm and pleasant you just have to make the most of it when it’s generally cooler. Being Mother’s Day in the UK many of us enjoyed a dinner together with the family a Sunday Roast is always welcoming for us Brits and there are absolutely loads of places to choose from if you wanted to eat out. The huge portions offered at the Yorkshire Pride or The Carvery at Monroes are always on the short list but we actually decided to have a change so homemade Pizza and Pasta at home with a little bit of telly thrown in for good measure was a perfect change for a Sunday afternoon. April is a favourite month of mine it’s Spring time, that normally guarantees warmer weather also the Easter Holidays and it’s my birthday towards the end of the month so I’m bouncing, with all of this to look forward to as well as Champions league quarter finals and semi-finals! I was pleased to see many local faces at our very new Press Office at the indoor market, due to the fact we have had continued growth in the media market over the last year the press office is just one of our contact points in the latest expansion of the business. To remind you we have our local sales office in the Old Town Benidorm, or you can now find us in aisle six of the Indoor Market in the Rincon Benidorm every day including Saturdays. We welcome you all to the very first of its kind bringing you the reader and business advertiser to a local point of contact face to face with the only weekly local newspaper. So come and see us and bring your local news and stories, business owners can come along to place their advert and see their design layout. This project would pave the way for 100 stores of international brands, a hypermarket and a wide range of entertainment along with restaurants all targeting both residents and the millions of tourists who visit the resort and the Costa Blanca each year. This investment would also be an important economic boost for the province by creating more than 2,100 direct jobs and 1,000 indirect jobs. Spain is the second European region that receives investment by “Unibail-Rodamco” Proof of this is the recently announced opening in late 2016 of the largest shopping centre in Mallorca, in which the Group will invest more than 225 million and create more than 2,300 direct jobs. In the words of Simon Orchard, CEO of Unibail-Rodamco in Spain, “Unibail-Rodamco remains confident in the recovery and the potential of the Spanish market. Hence the recent commitment recently acquired for the development of a new regional shopping centre in Palma de Mallorca”. Social scene

legal eagle QUICK TIPS

Straight from the horse´s mouth Over the years in Spain with rules changing all the time I have heard so much conflicting information regarding laws and integrating into Spain so on a recent trip when I was summoned “ for all the right reasons” to the National Police station in Benidorm I took the opportunity of asking the instructing officer to dispell a few common myths and confirm the truths from the “horse´s mouth”as such; Why do we need three seperate police forces in Spain and what are their functions? Both the National Police and Local Police have the same aim which is protection and security of citizens, but to reach this goal they have different roles, some of these are listed below; NATIONAL POLICE The issuing of national identity cards and passports . The control of entry and exit by Spaniards and foreigners from Spanish territory. Any matters relating to legislation regarding refugees and asylum , extradition, expulsion, emigration and immigration. Monitoring and inspection of compliance for gaming and gambling. The investigation and prosecution of drug-related crimes. Collaborating and providing assistance to police in other countries. LOCAL POLICE Protect local government authorities , and surveillance or custody of their buildings and facilities. Directing traffic, in accordance with traffic regulations . Oversee crowded road accidents within the town . Uphold public ordinances, decrees and other municipal regulations. Rendering assistance in cases of accident, catastrophe or public calamity. Preventing crime and holding public safety meeting. Monitoring public spaces and work with State security forces in relation to public demonstarions,, and large concentrations of people.

It’s all you need for a great read. GUARDIA CIVIL These are more of a military force who live in barracks and train like an army. They are answerable to the king of Spain, rather like a modern day version of the Muscateers, and they are the ones you see carrying guns and often stopping traffic looking for drugs and weapons... Is it zero tolerance for drinking and driving? The official limit is 0,25mg but depending ofcourse on the size of a person and if the drink is accomanied by food for example then the amount will dicepate though the bloodstream at a different rate, but usually with one pint or one glass of wine every citizen should be fine.

Is it permitted to drive in backless shoes? Officially a citizen is not allowed to drive in shoes without backs or barefoot, as it may be unsafe to manouver the pedals yet ironically a lady is permitted to drive in 4” stiletoes. Although this is a law its hard to police and rarely enforced. However driving while on a mobile phone is a definite no-no. When can I burn Garden rubbish or use my hosepipe to wash the car in the street? This is actually a matter determined by your local Town Hall, who usually keep a list of “burning days” on a notice board near the front entrance. Though these are reported to the Police, and they often attend to incidents it is the Town Hall who dictates when and where.

AP7 TOLL SCRAP

buzz@vistacostablanca.com

All tolls on the AP7 motorway are to be scrapped, but not until December 31st 2019. The franchise along the route will not be extended to the bank¬rupt or near¬ bankrupt toll com-panies, with the Ministry of Development saying that the road will pass to “government control” at the end of the decade. The stretch is apparently only used by 2 thousand vehicles a month, a massive reduction on the original projections of 30 thousand a month. Politicians across the region have been lobbying heavily recently for the Government to scrap the AP7 toll charges to provide relief along the N332 and have also said that the announcement is “not good enough and the date should be moved forward”. The high tariffs push motorists away from the motorway to avoid paying the high charges which can cost even more during the high season. Further afield, a big bonus for drivers will be the closure of the booths outside other busy areas like La Zenia and Torrevieja, where we also see many motorists opt for using the N332.

Locked Up While Lapping It Up A man who allegedly helped break two prisoners out of a custody van in an armed raid in Salford has been arrested on the terrace of a cafeteria in Benidorm. Paul Taylor, 24, was arrested by Spanish police in connection with the audacious breakout in Greater Manchester in April last year. During the escape, three armed men broke prisoners Ryan MacDonald and Stevie McMullen free from a custody van en route from HMP Altcourse to Manchester crown court. MacDonald and McMullen, 20 and 31 at the time, were both caught by police in May last year and returned to prison. The pair were sprung from the prison van in an ambush on Salford's A57 Regent Road. They were freed by three men, one brandishing a shotgun, who arrived in a dark Saab car and smashed the driver- and passengerside windows of the GEOAmey prison

buzz@vistacostablanca.com transport vehicle. The guards were left "very shaken" but uninjured after the morning rush-hour incident, police said afterwards. Three of the men ran off to the Ordsall estate after abandoning the Saab, while the other two got on a motorcycle, later found abandoned in Salford Quays. Greater Manchester police launched a manhunt, describing the escaped men as a "risk to the community". McMullen was standing trial accused of a kidnap, conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit arson and possession of a firearm. MacDonald was due to be sentenced for conspiracy to commit robbery. Police caught McMullen on 5 May while he was travelling in a car with two other men on the A6 near Lancaster University. MacDonald was arrested on 10 May in a raid by armed officers at a house in Ordsall, Salford. Taylor and two other British citizens - Lee Baker, from Southampton, and Zachary Williams, from Liverpool – were arrested allegedly in possession of a car and motorbike stolen in the UK and fake paperwork, four mobile phones and €4,435 (£3,700) in cash, Baker, 32, and Williams, 20, were living in La Nucia, police said. Spanish police said Taylor was arrested on a European arrest warrant on suspicion of aiding a prison escape and unlawful possession of weapons. Greater Manchester police said Taylor would be extradited to the UK.

Venues include Poolside Stages, Private Theme Bars, the Vegas Style Floorshow and Aftershows to dawn. 12

all will be showcasing Europe's top Elvis Tribute Artists, non- stop until around 9pm. At 10pm we open the Vegas Floorshow venues where headlining ETAs will appear with top Elvis Showbands. Then at around 1am they head to the already legendary Aftershow Party. If that's not enough there is The (Poolside) Elvis themed fun and games including it's a knockout, Elvis at The Movies on Saturday afternoon and The Elvis Gospel Show on Sunday. All of the venues are within easy walking distance of each other. There will be no admission to the general public and it will not be possible to purchase tickets

for individual shows. “The last two events have sold out well in advance but Organisers hope to release a handful of tickets the week before via the Roundtown Travel offices in Benidorm and Albir.” In 2004 an Elvis festival started in the small south Wales seaside town of Porthcawl. Over the following ten years it has grown to be the largest Elvis festival in the World attracting over 30,000 fans to the town at the end of September. Every hotel, B&B, plus the massive caravan park at Trecco Bay, is booked up a year in advance. The Welsh Government recently

commissioned a report to look at the economic impact of the Festival and it was calculated that the event brings in an estimated €7m into the area. A significant amount of money for a town with a population of 8,000. Organisers felt that the format could be replicated in a Mediterranean holiday resort and Benidorm was chosen. The first Benidorm Elvis Fiesta was staged in 2011 and the fourth event is due to kick off on Friday 11th April. Based at the Hotel Sol Melia, with ‘Fringe’ events in the Rock ‘n Roll House and Showboat bars, twelve of the top Elvis Tribute Artists in the World will perform around the clock turning that part of the Rincon into a wall to wall Elvis party. Benidorm Elvis Fiesta Co-Producer, Harriet Raybould said. “The idea came to us from the fans that attend Porthcawl every year. Although there’s 30,000 of them it’s really a big Elvis club with 500 wanting an extra fix of The King in the Spanish sun every April.” There are plans to expand the Benidorm Elvis Fiesta in 2015. Co-Producer Peter Phillips said “Although our Benidorm event has a long way to go to match Porthcawl it is already the largest Elvis festival in mainland Europe. With the accommodation infrastructure in Benidorm the time has come to take the event up a few gears in 2015. We are planning a large free event in the Old Town and expand the Fiesta to the Thursday. I can also confirm that we have agreed to stage the Sunday night finale in the Benidorm Palace. With the top twelve Elvis acts performing for the first time on such a magnificent stage this will be the most extravagant Elvis show ever staged in Europe. Dates for The Benidorm Elvis Fiesta 2015 are Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th April. All images rights: Helena Casas: www.helenacasas.wordpress.com Info at www.elvisinbenidorm.com

MURCIA A CITY FULL OF SURPRISES

Murcia Spain with its about 300 000 inhabitants lies about 75 km south of Alicante about 30 km west of Torrevieja. The city of Murcia can be reached via the national road E15 from Alicante. You can also arrive in this interesting city by bus or train.

originally founded. Certainly amongst the famous visiting points for any traveller is the Cathedral de Santa Maria. Finished in the 15th century the cathedral is the most impressive monument of Murcia. The city is divided by the Segura River and is known for its beautiful Baroque Cathedral, Almudi Palace and the castle of Monteagudo ( where the Arab influence can be well appreciated ), a fortress from the 11th c., the Market de Veronicas, the Malecon Garden, the University of Murcia, the Casino (A Murcian institution in Calle Trapería - its ballroom is decorated in the style of Luis 15th), and the Museum Ramon Gay, which was inaugurated in 1990 when the artist was 82 years old, and also includes other works of art from other artists. Ramon Gaya was influenced by famous artists such as Vazquez and Rembrandt, to give you an idea of the intensity of his work. The cathedral, which is located at the plaza del Cardinal Belluga, just next to the river, has got different entrance doors, all of which have on their own a treasure. The main entrance, called Puerta Del Perdon, the north door, Portada De Las Cadenas and the Portada De Los Apostoles lead you into the impressive Capilla Mayor (Chappel) decorated with lots of gold. When you take a tour around the cathedral of Murcia, make sure you visit the museum inside the cathedral, where many more details are explained. Right outside the Cathedral you will find the city

hall and the Palacia Episcopal, the residency of the Bishop of Murcia. The variety of museums, from the archeological to the museum for water systems, the science museum, to the museo de bellas Artes which shows art from Ballester and Gaya amongst others, means there is something of interest for every visitor. Murcia is the perfect city for strolling around (and a terrible one to drive in, with very complicated oneway systems and crowded car-parks). Everything worth seeing is within walking distance. The most famous commercial streets are Trapería, Platería and la Avda. Alfonso X el Sabio. The Paseo del Malecón near the River Segura is also a pleasant walk out of the city and then back again. Churches and Convents worth visiting include: Santa Ana church, San Andrés church, San Miguel church. San Nicolás church; San Juan de Dios church and museum, Las Agustinas monastery is just 5km away. Nuestra Sra. de la Fuensanta sanctuary has great views of the city. Shopping: The most typical things to buy to eat in Murcia are meat pies (including deer pie) from Bonache (in the pretty plaze de las Flores - Flowers square). Shops in the Trapería and Platería are also worth a look. The Verónicas market is good for famous Murcian market-garden products, fish and seafood. On the outskirts of the city you will find two very large shopping centres, IKEA and the Real Murcia football stadium.

Embedded in between the mountains of the Sierra de Orihuela and the Cresta de Gallo lies the city which, due to its large and sophisticated watering system, is famous for the mouth watering fruit and vegetables it produces. From a tourist point of view Murcia offers a huge amount of interesting places to visit as the history of the city goes back to the years 800, when it was

The Grand National avd de’l Ametlla de mar, Benidorm

“Brilliant British food”

Reviewed 26 March 2014 We booked our holiday half board as we knew this place from a previous visit. Brilliant British food, the service is second to none. Atmosphere is first class with the English music channels. What’s better than eating English food with English music but sat out in the Spanish sun.

“A REAL WINNER.”

Reviewed 18 March 2014 The service in the grand national, is excellent .the staff were Spanish, and nothing was too much trouble for them.we only went in for drinks ,but the five times we were there the food that was being served looked lovely we will be trying it when we go back in april.

“Excellent service and food”

Reviewed 20 January 2014 Visited the grand national twice on our 11 nights in Benidorm, lovely food, very generous portion sizes! Generous amount of staff working at the one time so food never sits waiting to b brought to your table, staff friendly and polite, tables etc spotless, will defo go back!

“birthday meal”

Reviewed 11 December 2013 Had our anniversary meal here in july, came back on the 29th November for my 50th.Eight people including 2 kids, food very good as always, old gent serving, possibly the owner, was very friendly and efficient. This was the last night they were opening so they were moving various things out during the evening but we were not disturbed. We are back in Benidorm next july and wiil definitely be back.

La Cava Aragonesa Pz de la Constitucion, Benidorm

“Good tapas in an ejoyable atmosphere”

Reviewed 24 March 2014 We found this place whilst exploring the Old Town in Benidorm and we were pleasantly surprised. It was very popular with local people, which attracted us as we find if that is the case then it’s usually a good indication that the fare is worth sampling. We had albondigas (meatballs), bacon, mushrooms and chorizo on bread, tortilla (ham and cheese) and a venison ‘stew’ - all very nice, tasty and very cheap. The dishes together with bread and wine cost 18 euros and it was enough for both of us. As I’ve said it was very popular with local people, families included, and that helped make the atmosphere so enjoyable. It’s definitely a place worth seeking out if you’re looking for something, at least approaching, Spanish in Benidorm.

“Locals Place.”

Reviewed 26 February 2014 Truly liked it. Order just 2 sandwiches with ham (Jamon). And it was very good/tasty. Combined with 2 bottles of Grimbergen (Belgium strong beer). And feeling reborn again.

“A fun, relaxed eating experience.”

Reviewed 18 February 2014 Located in the famous Tapas alley in a the maze of Old Town streets, we stumbled around till we happened upon it. In short this place is very popular with holiday makers and locals. Seating is a bit rough and ready and a bit of a jostle to get to the bar it but all adds to the fun atmosphere. Everyone seemed friendly and having a sociable time.

El Italiano Pizzeria Restaurant Triangular, Benidorm

“genuine italian food,excellent value”

Reviewed 17 February 2014 Good menu, seafood choices, all cooked italiano, good choice of italian wines.Excellent service & advice on items not on menu.Good value for money

“Came back again from last year best pizza”

Reviewed 15 February 2014 Lovely pizza, decent prices! Thursdays they do half price pizza. Best pizza in benidorm if not spain from my expierence! Lovely owner/manager

“GREAT ITALIAN RESTAURANT”

Reviewed 1 February 2014 This restaurant has a warm atmosphere and the staff are really friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and served promptly even though the restaurant was very busy. Some Italian restaurants in Benidorm seem to offer Italian style food but this was way better and reminded us of when we were in Italy. Highly recommended.

“Special daily menu”

Reviewed 13 January 2014 Work in Benidorm as holiday advisors so always looking for a good price on food! El Italiano caught our eye as it has a great daily offer menu and you don’t sacrifice food quality. Really lovely meal, very quick service. Good options for those not so keen on just pasta and pizza, this Italian offers a lot more. Wine lovely too. Including a hot waiter, only disappointment was the garlic bread not garlicky enough and didn’t get David’s number!

Celebrity Selfies The cast have been busy filming this past week, you may have seen the Primoti trucks on Calle Gerona along with the large gazebo and chairs for the crew outside Morgan’s Tavern or should we say, Neptunes! Between filming you may have been lucky enough to see members of the cast out and about around Benidorm they are always love to say hello and if they have time will always be happy to spare a few moments with their fans for a quick picture. If you haven’t managed to catch a glimpse of them there is plenty of time, the crew are here filming until the end of June so there will be plenty of opportunities to try and meet members of the cast. We have included a number of snaps from happy fans and celebs from the past week We have been asked by many readers for information regarding Johnny Vegas as no one has seen him yet. No re-opening

The old terminal at Alicante¬Elche airport will not be used again for air traffic, says the airport owner AENA. They say they are perfectly happy with the capacity of the facilities that were opened 3 years ago, and that there’s plenty of room for expansion there. Last year, it emerged that a company was interested in taking over the old facilities to create a major shopping area, but nothing so far has happened. AENA has now said that it will “rent out” the terminal to be used for what it described as commercial projects that are “firm and viable”

Family Dental Centre Opens!

This week the Family Medical Centre Albir opened it’s doors to dental patients. Since opening the Family Medical Centre in 2011, clinic directors Amanda Collins and Dawn Blythe have had aspirations to expand the medical centre to include a Family Dentist. One of the reasons that the Family Medical Centre has become a thriving medical practice is not only the wide range of specialists that are available under one roof, but that the clinic itself is so friendly and welcoming, from the inviting décor to the warmth and friendliness of all the staff. Dawn Blythe says ‘here at our medical centre we have seen numerous patients who for one reason or another have been nervous to see a doctor or undergo a particular medical procedure. For example, we see women who are frightened to have an all important cervical smear. This may be due to a previous traumatic experience. Or, we have patients who are literally terrified of needles and injections but require blood tests or treatment by injection. With all nervous patients we give them as much time as they need to help them to overcome their particular fear and enable us to give treatment. With any procedure we go very slowly, explaining to the patient what we are doing and reassuring them that we will stop at any time. Word spreads and we have become recognised for making nervous patients feel at ease. This quality of care will continue to be delivered by the team of compassionate family dentists.’

Foods Your Dentist Wants You To Eat Amanda Collins says ‘we have gone to great lengths to ensure our dentists offer advanced dental technology with a caring touch. The standard of dental care is in line with the standard of medical, nursing and midwifery care currently given to our patients. Our Dentists use the latest techniques and materials and strive for perfection ensuring that our patients walk away with a smile to be proud of! All of our dental team are sensitive to patients needs and are sympathetic and understanding of patients who may be particularly nervous. This is especially important for children as a bad dental experience as a child can result in a lifelong phobia of dentists’. For more information regarding general, cosmetic and specialist dental treatments call The Family Medical Centre on 966 865 072 or better still, pop in and meet the team!

It’s certainly important to be aware of foods that should be avoided because of the damage they have on teeth, but why not focus on delicious and nutritious options that can help? Adding some beneficial foods to your dental care routine can boost your oral health and help you maintain that beautiful smile. You’re probably used to dentists and doctors always telling you what foods to avoid in order to improve your health – the key word is always “don’t.” This time, however, I’m happy to be the bearer of good news. There are several great foods that you should be eating to improve oral health. Cheese Just in case you needed another reason to enjoy cheese, I’m here to give you one. This study gives us a few reasons this delicious dairy does a mouth good. First, just like milk and other dairy-rich foods, cheese is high in calcium and low in acid. Calcium fortifies teeth (and bones), prevents decay and may even let you keep your pearly whites longer in old age. Apples An apple a day might, in fact, help keep the dentist away. Crunchy, high-fiber fruits and veggies, like apples and celery for example, are great for teeth. They require some pretty decent effort to chew and break down, resulting in saliva production, which helps neutralize harmful acids in the mouth. Sesame Oil Sesame oil has long been hailed for its health and healing properties. When it comes to oral care, studies show that this oil is highly effective at reducing plaque, and thus, gingivitis. Because it has a fairly strong flavor, it may not be appropriate for all of your cooking needs, but it’s a perfect option for those healthy stir-fries and Asian dishes.

In January 1999, Jamie Andrew was stranded in a blizzard in the French Alps for five days and subsequently had all four limbs amputated due to frostbite. The BBC continues its Midwife trend but goes further back in time with this medical drama that follows the brave doctors, nurses and volunteer women working in First World War France, patching up soldiers wounded in the trenches.

APRIL ISSUE No.1/ 1st April -8th April 2014 (#25)

La Nucia

It’s all you need for a great read.

U3A - La Nucía International Day U3A Marina Baixa was invited to take part in La Nucía’s first International Day on Sunday 30 March and at 9.00 am they were busy setting up their stall – “The Olde English Tea Shoppe”. As the tea urn bubbled away the ladies of the Committee donned their “Downton Abbey” style aprons and mop caps

ready to start serving pots of English tea and cakes to their customers. One of their first customers was “The Queen” wearing her tiara and accompanied by a City of London Banker complete with his copy of the Financial Times and a bowler hat! Later a Pearly King and Queen dropped in for tea and cakes wearing

Dog of The Week Amparo

Born in 2013, this girl was brought into the pound by local police early March 2014, She was abandoned and left in a terrible condition, with totally matted fur and very sad eyes at whatever has happened to her. It was hard to tell her age because of her awful condition but we have been told and can now say that she is 3 years old. The first priority was a good haircut to see if there were any health problems and she was a good as gold during the time on the table being trimmed up. There does not seem to be any other concerns with her only the neglect she has suffered in her few short years. At the moment she is in a cage with another two girls, which shows that she is good with female dogs and can be tested with other dogs, cats and children if needed. She has had a very hard life till now and needs a loving home. Please join us on Facebook 'Benidorm Dog Homing' to see more about her or call Maria on 677 373396. We have now started a buddy system for our dogs and you can help us without even walking the dogs by saying you will be a cyber-buddy to one of our dogs in need of a home. All it takes is 3 - 4 minutes twice a day to keep your dog at the top of our page. Then to also find other Facebook sites you can share the story on and to keep the dog high on that page too. We have found that the more a dog is shared then the greater the chance of a new home. So please care and share. If you can help us with donations or by joining us on our dog walking mornings we would love to hear from you. We walk every day from Monday to Saturday at 10am till 1pm, even an hour of your time will make a huge difference to the dogs that can be taken out of their pen for just 20 minutes as some never get walked at all! Join us either through our Facebook page 'Benidorm Dog Homing' or by calling Maria on 677 373396

their suits covered with the traditional pearl buttons. Throughout the day the Tea Shop was very busy and by 5.00 pm not only was the supply of cakes exhausted but so were the ladies and their respective partners. Endless cups of tea resulted in over €300 being raised for local charity.

APRIL ISSUE No.1/ 1st April -8th April 2014 (#25)

It’s all you need for a great read.

Your weekly Horoscope ARIES

You’re an activator, an instigator, maybe even an agitator on Monday. Get stuff started! And -thank your lucky stars - you’re better than usual about following through around Tuesday and Wednesday. Add nice little details to your plans and convince a certain someone that your way’s the best way. Talk about lucky - if you’ve got love on your mind around Thursday (and you probably do), you’ve got a way with compliments and general wooing right on time. Just keep it sweet and light, and save the big questions and answers for later.

CANCER

What happens when you’re even more emotional than usual? Find an outlet for it all, or you’ll find out the hard way on Monday. Kick your traditional side to the curb around Tuesday and Wednesday. Why? Because the more original you are in your thinking — and in what you choose to do — the better. Bonus: People will love it — and you. Around Thursday, be warned: Your efforts in the love department may go awry. The stars say to be very clear in conveying your feelings — or reschedule the romantic stuff for the weekend, when you’re hot stuff.

LIBRA

TAURUS

Approaching an issue with creativity gets much better results than going with the default option on Monday - it’s time well spent, not wasted. And while your best days for romance this week may be Tuesday and Wednesday (aren’t you sexy!), your energy around Thursday isn’t too shabby either. Hint: Share how you’re feeling, but keep the plans short term. Let the heavy stuff take care of itself rather than getting ahead of yourself - all in good time! When the weekend comes, you just might have a revelation about how to handle a certain situation.

LEO

Fit in a little fun on Monday to get your week off to a good start — try lunch with a friend, a movie or an impromptu outing to somewhere new. Over the next couple of days, you’re likely to be entangled in work, and you may feel somewhat inflexible. Doing something to loosen up physically (yoga, anyone?) helps your whole being. And guess what? Your hopes and desires come into play around Thursday — and the stars favor a risk. Take a romantic idea and run with it! This weekend, if at first you don’t succeed, don’t just blindly try again: Heed your intuition about what to do next.

SCORPIO

Your usual diplomacy may go right out the window on Monday — and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If saying what you mean and meaning what you say causes a ruckus, you can smooth it over around Tuesday and Wednesday. The benefits of laying it on the line can be long lasting. Around Thursday, here comes Cupid, and he isn’t stupid — expect (or create!) new developments in your love life now. How about sharing a deep feeling to get things going? When the weekend comes, though, you may want to keep to yourself. You’re cute when you’re shy.

You’re a bit accident-prone on Monday, so go slowly, be methodical, back your work up and keep track of your keys. You’re a force to be reckoned with around Tuesday and Wednesday — but can you acknowledge your sensitive side along with your strength? Forcefulness is fine if you can also see when to relent and when to be gentle. And while going out on a romantic limb may seem like the normal thing to do around Thursday, don’t get carried away. You’re far from normal (in a good way!), and your own timing and understanding of matters of the heart will be much better when the weekend comes.

Anything out of your comfort zone or out of the blue is liable to throw you for a loop on Monday, but don’t freak out. Rather than sounding off, hit ‘save’ instead of ‘send,’ keep your head down and sleep on it. Tuesday and Wednesday bring some much-needed perspective and a way for you to push on through — and maybe even a little romantic action! Hand out the love notes and flowers — you’re hot right now. Around Thursday, you’ll still be warm; just keep it sweet and simple. With the weekend comes some ups and downs. Can you handle it? Yes, you can.

You have an urge to be free on Monday, but make sure you cancel plans instead of leaving people hanging — it’s only polite. Then past, present and future intersect in interesting ways on Tuesday and Wednesday. Where’s your head? How about your heart? It’s definitely time to live in the moment, to seize the day and embrace possibilities around Thursday — and the stars say the romantic sparks can really set things afire now. Your beauty plus your brains equals an awesome combination. When the weekend comes, though, get into a groove instead of going out on a limb.

You’re thinking so fast on Monday that you might really benefit from bouncing your ideas off somebody. Then, if information’s en route or a secret’s circulating around Tuesday and Wednesday, don’t get so caught up that you fail to look at things critically. Does it all add up? Is it worth getting all wound up about? Love’s in the air around Thursday. You can thank the stars later, as you ought to be busy making the most of your love interest through Friday (you’re still extra hot, and they know it). When the weekend comes, though, are you clinging to something?

VIRGO

Those around you may drive you nuts on Monday, but could it be that you’re expecting too much of them? Around Tuesday and Wednesday, the stars send an opportunity your way, but you’ll need to do your part, too. Seek out inspiration, make your world an interesting place and embrace existence. If you’ve got love on your mind around Thursday, you’ll already have the good karma going to take advantage. Just choose your words (or your flowers) with your customary care. When the weekend comes, you’re the one to organize something that everyone loves. Put it together and get mad props!

SAGITTARIUS

Getting into a great groove ought to be easy on Monday, especially if you’re stretching your imagination’s wings. Find time to follow your nose to a discovery now. You’re all about drilling down, reading the fine print and finding out more around Tuesday and Wednesday. This detail-oriented side of you is unusual, so use it before you lose it! If you’re sending any romantic messages around Thursday, be sure you’re not overstating your case. The response may surprise you. This weekend, things are in flux. Can you go with the flow?

PISCES

Allow for changeable moods and evolving relationships on Monday. Letting go of an illusion and seeing things as they are makes room for some reality-based greatness. You’ll have energy to get it going, too, around Tuesday and Wednesday. Your romantic (not to mention work) instincts are amazing right now, so listen to them and just go with it. When Thursday comes, it’s inadvisable to have too many expectations or get too specific — just relax and you won’t be disappointed. You’re burning hot this weekend. Have your own celebration of love!

Google Chromecast UK Review: Eyes Land on the Stream What Is It? A £30 USB or mains-powered HDMI dongle that plugs into the side of your telly, connects to your home Wi-Fi connection and beams all manner of web-based content straight to your living room screen. Who Is It For? Those that want a simple, unobtrusive media streaming device. Those who value affordability over a wide range of immediately-available video partners. Anyone who had the patience to wait for an official UK release rather than importing one from a US reseller. People who hate having to connect a laptop to their TVs in order to display webpages on a bigger screen. Design The UK Chromecast is basically identical to its US counterpart. It’s just under three inches long (protruding 2.5 inches once it’s plugged into your telly), with a HDMI port on one end and a USB port on the other. This is used to power the device, and can be plugged either into your TV’s USB port or into a supplied mains charger. The Chromecast is a dinky little thing, with a rounded bulge at one end that also has a status indicator light on it. And while its black casing and Chrome logo is discrete, you

DOES YOUR BUSINESS NEED A MOBILE APP?

may want to get the old tape measure out just to be safe if your TV is wall mounted. A short HDMI extension cable is supplied in the box, should that prove useful. Using It Set-up is simple — after plugging in the Chromecast to a USB port and a HDMI port, switching over your TV to the right input channel will show the start-up screen. Here you’re directed to a set-up web page which you can access from a PC, Mac, mobile or tablet browser which links the dongle to your Wi-Fi connection. You’ll be briefly booted off of your Wi-Fi network, and then after a few seconds, all supported devices connected to your home network will be able to play with your new Chromecast. This is where the Chromecast comes into its own — you’re good to go in about five minutes. Whether you’re rocking a Mac or a PC, an Android phone or an iPhone, an Android tablet or an iPad or even a select number of Chromebooks, you can use any or all of them to control the Chromecast. While you may not have access to one of each of those devices, you’ll almost certainly have one, meaning with the £30 dongle bought you should already have all you need to take advantage of it.

We can make you anything from brochures to a mobile shop and even creating a radio stream... Adapting to your needs.

Ryan Giggs - Confident & Ready for Bayern Munich

Ryan Giggs says Manchester United do not consider themselves to be underdogs for Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Bayern Munich at Old Trafford. Giggs was part of the United team that beat Bayern 2-1 in a dramatic Champions League final back in 1999, thanks to injury-time goals from Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and he expects Tuesday's clash to also be a great spectacle. When asked to compare the current United side with the 1999 team, he said: "Obviously the players are different but the tradition and the clubs are still the same. "When Bayern play Man United it is always a great spectacle whether it be in the Champions

Britannia

League final or whether it be in the quarter-finals. "Obviously Bayern are a fantastic team. They are the holders and are obviously a very strong team and probably favourites in most people's eyes. But we are Manchester United, it is at Old Trafford and we have seen so many great nights in Europe especially." Meanwhile, United manager David Moyes is confident his team will be able to cope with Bayern Munich and is expecting a big performance from his side. He said: "We are going into the game knowing that on our day we are as good a side as any. We have to show it more often than we have done but I have great belief in the players. I have said that from day Lewis Hamilton took a dominant win in the Malaysian one and it hasn't changed." GP to lead Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg to a one-two finish. The Briton was in control from the start, converting his pole positioninto a lead at the first corner and controlling the race. Rosberg was unable to keep up, and concentrated on ensuring he stayed ahead of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel. Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso took fourth after Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo hit trouble while Force India’s Nico occasion Hulkenberg was fifth and McLaren’s Jenson Button took sixth.

Oleg Gusev saved from swallowing tongue

Dynamo Kiev captain Oleg Gusev was saved by an opposing player from swallowing his own tongue after he was knocked out during a Ukrainian match. The 30-year-old fell unconscious when goalkeeper Denys Boyko accidentally smashed his knee into Gusev's face during a match against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk on Sunday 30th March. To stop the skipper from choking on his tongue, Dnipro midfielder Jaba Kankava forced his hand down Gusev's mouth to clear his airways. Shortly after the medics arrived, Gusev recovered and was carried off the field on a stretcher.

John Terry’s OG May Cost Chelsea Title CHELSEA’S Premier League title hopes suffered a major blow after John Terry’s 52nd-minute own goal condemned Jose Mourinho’s side to a 1-0 defeat at relegation-threatened Crystal Palace on Saturday. The loss, Chelsea’s second successive away defeat, meant the league leaders were unable to increase the pressure on Manchester City and Liverpool, their nearest challengers. For Palace, a first win in six games moved Tony Pulis’s side five points clear of the bottom three and improved their chances of avoiding an immediate return to the Championship.

ALFAZ FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE There were 14 games played in the season´s 33rd week , which will also complete the Manager of the Month for March 2014. A total of 46 goals including 2 own goals , John Terry´s giving his Manager Jose Mourinho the excuse to throw the towel in for Chelsea ( what a motivator this Manager is!!) & Tottenham´s Captain, Kaboul ,didn´t help his team in yet another pathetic defensive display by the Spurs & making Liverpool look very late favourites for the Premiership. Other stats for the week were 7 clean sheets, 29 yellow cards & NO sending offs- the referees perhaps getting something correct for a change!!! Abby´s Brigade continue to hit the headlines, the first team to pass the 1000 points along with Charlie´s Chicos amassing 1035 & 1012 points – still 6 games left to complete the season , but there are still a few surprises in store, although Fulham seem to be the team to book the first relegation ticket. Mark Carter´s Ladies section remains unchanged & Charlie´s Chicos look set to take this mini league over Laik´s Loonies , Ladies Top scorer this week is Hup Hannah FC with 65 points & get the chance to win Ian Charman´s Cellar Bar

Sponsored by

Cert & also puts the team within 5 points of Ginger United in 3rd place , whilst Pot Luckers & El Nui Baddies are still firmly placed at the bottom. The Junior League & Leonard Knowles Construction Golden Boot League remain the same. The Premier Imports monthly draw will include the top scorer of the week with 70 points Move Like Agger (Dani Gennard) & lowest score Fatland´s Favourites (Adam Welsh) with 1 point & the result of the draw will be announced in next week´s report. The Manager of the Month for March goes to Abby´s Brigade , & so continues a very impressive season, Abby is invited to a fabulous meal for 2 at El Nui in Alfaz del Pi. Due to a slight glitch in communications the full details of the Fastest Moving Man´s team, the result of the Quarter finals of the Team KO CUP along with the draw for the semi -finals will be announced next week or will appear in the updates on the HomePage of our website www.alfazffl.com . Liverpool go top after thrashing Tottenham Liverpool were undoubtedly the story of the English Premier League this weekend, beating Tottenham comprehensively at Anfield on Sunday to go top after results went their way the day before. An own goal from Younes Kaboul and strikes from Suarez, Coutinho and Henderson saw Brendan Rodger's side run out winners 4-0 and moved the Reds two points ahead of Chelsea and four in front of Manchester City, who both dropped points on Saturday. Man City were held 1-1 away to Arsenal, but the shock came at Selhurst Park where Chelsea lost 1-0 to

relegation-threatened Crystal Palace. The result prompted Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho to declare his side's chances of winning the title as null and void. "Now it's impossible to win the title," he said. "We depend too much on other results." Liverpool by contrast very much have their own destiny in their hands, with both City and Chelsea still to visit them. Manuel Pellegrini's City side however have played two games fewer and remain favourites in the eyes of many.
