continued from page 1 The man then appeared at his hotel 3.30am naked and extremely disorientated, he had scratches on his body and his legs were covered in blood but other than that appeared to be in normal health. He told authorities that after a short time in the water he got tired and wanted to turn back but was confused and disorientated, while trying to return to the beach he saw the helicopter and boats and tried to get their attention by waving first with his hands and then by removing his bathing suit. He managed to swim to some rocks which explained the cuts and scratches and then walked back to his hotel. This is not the first time tourists have tried the swim under the influence of alcohol and got into difficulties.

Welcome Readers...

Dear readers After a packed weekend full of activities and with pure wall to wall sunshine it’s weather to die for. The week ahead is set to be one that offers plenty of the same with temperatures reaching mid 20's so for all holiday makers it is exactly what they’ve come here for. The Spanish bank holiday last Thursday (labour day) was a midweek holiday that seemed to throw a few of us out of sync with banks closed as well as most other services, it seems almost the norm here and that on a regular basis there is a fiesta or something else that impacts on the normal working week. Spanish life is so different in many ways to that in the UK it takes you back in time to the days where in the UK our banks closed at 3.30pm. We thought

back then how can banks do that when all other businesses worked until 5 or 6? Well it still happens here except its 2pm so if you find it difficult to do your banking business in the mornings then you will have to find a way to fit in to the system and habits of the Spanish. Some of the cultural habits are great to get a taste of and others would not suit most of us at all, the idea of sleeping in the afternoon "SIESTA" is a great way to break up the day recharge our batteries and then be bright and full of energy for the evening. But a beer or glass of wine in the morning for breakfast is not quite as appealing for most Brits but is another cultural habit that is quite normal for Spanish people, and what's amazing is the workers who are in

cafés anytime during the morning from as early as 8:30am you will see glasses of beer and wine being consumed along with breakfast snacks and coffee, then it's off back to work fed and watered until 2pm that is! Tell us about your experiences and opinions on the life and cultural differences here is Spain whether you live here or if you’re visiting we would love to know more about what you see and find out. You can visit us at the press office in the indoor market aisle 6 and bring us your local news also business owners can come along to place their adverts in next week’s issue. Call us on 965 020 250 or e mail buzz@vistacostablanca.com Have a great week, Marco

SPIKED

THE NUMBER of people taking up off-road cycling is growing at a fast pace and apart from the obvious risks involved in cycling over rugged terrain many who practice the sport are complaining that traps are being deliberately set to injure them.

But it is not just off-road cyclists who are being targeted. User of trial bikes and quads are also reporting that traps designed to puncture tyres are being put out on many of the routes they use.

Profits plunge at Spanish bank BBVA Spain's second-biggest bank by market capitalisation, BBVA, said Wednesday its profits plunged by nearly two thirds in the first quarter but its ratio of risky assets eased. The bank recorded quarterly profits of 624 million euros ($865 million), down 64 percent from a year earlier when its earnings were exceptionally boosted by the sale of certain assets. BBVA was hurt like all of Spain's banks by its exposure to the real estate sector which collapsed in 2008 after a 10-year boom. It said Wednesday however that it could see "clear signs of improvement" in asset quality. Its ratio of high-risk loans decreased for the first time since 2011, from 6.8 to 6.6 percent on a quarterly basis. Two other major banks, Santander and Caixabank, have also reported a lowering of their ratio of high-risk loans -mostly bad real estate assets left over from the crash. This strengthening in the first quarter could indicate a possible turning point for Spain as it crawls out of recession.

Banged Up NICE AND HEALTHY

Spain’s healthcare system is the best in Europe, claims a new study. And the country is ranked fifth best in the world, in the study by Bloomberg which measured efficiency, life expectancy and cost. The report comes after a number of studies which showed that Spanish health care has deteriorated dramatically over recent years due to national budget cuts.

British medical journal ‘The Lancet’ recently slammed its quality following drastic 30% cuts over the last few years. Despite this, Spain’s efficiency rating was 68.3, its life expectancy was 82.3, and the cost of healthcare as a percentage of GDP per capita was 10.4%. This is compared to the UK’s efficiency rating of 55.7, life expectancy of 80.8, and healthcare cost percentage of 9.4%.

The Managers of the bar were close by and police were called to the scene, the incident happened at 10.30am and the driver had 3 children as passengers in the vehicle. When asked how she had managed to reverse directly up a curb and onto the terrace her reply was as simple as “My foot slipped” we can all understand accidents happen but at the scene you have trouble to comprehend the accident as you could only think that it looks like criminal damage! It is a miracle nobody was hurt as a little later on the terrace would have been filled with customers, the owners hope to have the damages repaired quickly as the driver would try to avoid any extra costs such as “Loss of Business Earnings”

A 41 year old Egyptian woman was used as a virtual slave by a 62 year old businessman who has been arrested by the National Police in the Alicante area. Strange News PARTY AT 30,000FT

Cheeky Ryanair cabin crew encouraged passengers to play a rowdy game of 'toss the toilet roll' to win free booze on a flight. The pass-the-parcel lavatory game at 30,000ft enraged some on board who were travelling to sun-kissed Tenerife from Manchester. Rows of passengers were divided into two teams by a male member of the cabin crew and played six or seven rounds in a desper-

ate bid to win a "free bar". Music promoter and DJ Chris Prudence, 29, from Moreton, Wirral, said he settled into his seat for the journey only for "all hell to break loose". The game began two-and-a-half hours into Ryanair flight 4332 on Easter Sunday afternoon and lasted for about 20 minutes, according to the irate passenger. Mr Prudence said: "I was sitting in my seat minding my own business when this blaring

voice said whichever team managed to get a toilet roll to the back of a plane first won. "The prize was a free bar which meant free alcoholic drinks to a flight full of lads and holidaymakers. "There were all these hands in the air flailing wildly as this bundle, which was quite heavy, made its way to down the aisles to the back of the plane. "I wasn't playing the game and the toilet roll hit me and a poor pensioner who was nodding off when the roll bashed into her

face." Afterwards, the cheeky cabin crew admitted that there was NO prize of a free bar. Ryanair say they are investigating the alleged melee. He is planning to complain to Ryanair because of their "unprofessionalism and disregard for the well-being of its passengers". A spokesperson for Ryanair said: "There was no offer of a ‘free bar’ on this or any other Ryanair flight and no free drinks were dispensed. "Cabin crew were interacting with our customers and arranged a pass the parcel competition, but this was in a spirit of good fun."

chimney and into her living room every night. ‘I am thinking that with the weather change they will go away…I hope,’ Mrs Brown said. She revealed that she has tried to clean up the mess that the birds make with a vacuum but it just sends the birds into a flap. Given Mrs Brown will no doubt be keen to avoid her life mirroring any other Hitchcock films, she might want to avoid secluded motels for a while. Just to be safe.

A village cricket team has been BANNED from hitting sixes - because the ball keeps ending up in a neighbouring garden. Britwell Salome Cricket Club in Oxfordshire have had to enforce a "local rule", which means no runs will be scored if the boundary his hit due to an increasing number of complaints. Diana Attenborough has grown angry by the number of balls landing in her garden and complained that it was dangerous - even threatening to take the club to court. And although thousands of pounds have been spent

on a 50ft net, Attenborough wasn't convinced and demanded a rule change. She said: "The old net was much lower so the balls came over and made it very dangerous to be in the garden. We came to an amicable situation." However, one club member isn't in agreement and berated the decision which will hinder scores severely. They added: "Village cricket is not exactly awash with cash so they can't risk ending up in court. "It's ridiculous. Imagine footballers being told they can't shoot outside the area!"

The Birds are here!

When Californian Shirley Brown came home last Friday she found hundreds of wild birds had come down her chimney into her house. The birds, which she believes were trying to hide from the storm that evening, were in her kitchen, behind her TV, on the ceiling fan – and even under the sofa. ‘There were 200 to 300 of them,’ said Mrs Brown. Now the birds come streaming down the

FISH NOT JUST ON FRIDAYS

The British visitors and many locals enjoy a regular feast of the famous favourite from back home FISH & CHIPS. June & Steve from Leeds have been the owners of Rays ll since 1985 and continue to put a big smile on the faces of their customers by serving top quality fish and chips. So what makes Rays ll stand out from the rest and makes the real difference to the quality? We went along to talk to June and Steve to find out more.

June explained “the prime Icelandic Cod is skinless and boneless the best chunky fish fillets cooked fresh for each order. Also we use only high grade sunflower seed oil making your fish and chips vertically cholesterol free”. So what about the chips we asked “Chips are not just chips you can find all sorts of chips around thin, fat, literally hundreds of types, we are proud of our chips at Rays 11 you get fresh potato chips not frozen and

they are cooked to perfection”. The menu includes a very special offer of White Fillet Fish, Chips and Mushy Peas for only - 3.75€. Other special menus include 5.25€ with a choice of 7 desserts. And if you don’t want Fish and Chips then the special price includes a choice of homemade chicken curry with rice or southern fried chicken breast and chips. There are so many choices it’s amazing and something for everyone which is great if you’re in a group or as a

family. Rays ll are famous for the quality of the fish so we had to try it, the choice from Haddock or Cod served with bread & butter mushy peas tea or coffee or a lager shandy for only 7.95€ is extremely good value. The batter was golden and crispy and when cutting through to the chunky white fillet you could see how soft and tender the fish was. It tasted amazing and together with the mushy peas and delicious chunky chips I was appreciating every moment. The portion size was generous in fact I had no space

for a dessert although I had noticed that the menu has a host of British favourites that include homemade apple crumble, trifle, cheesecake treacle or jam sponge with custard, chocolate fudge cake with hot chocolate sauce are just some of the desserts available. June and Steve gave us some of the history because I had like most people who have been to Benidorm noticed that there are three Fish and Chip Restaurants called Rays. Rays 1 is in the Old Town which was the first Rays Chippy in Benidorm but does not have the same owners as Rays ll. The original Ray’s team together with June and Steve included the three restaurants until they made them independent. June and Steve are the owners of Rays ll and you can easily find them just behind EuroTabaco on the main Avenida Mediterraneo in the Rincon only one street back from the beach front. You can stop by at Rays for snacks, sandwiches & rolls from 2.30€ and other food choices include Liver & Onions, Homemade Faggots, Homemade Pies, Steak and Kidney Puddings, Burgers, Sausages, Fish Fingers, Fresh Salads with Coleslaw, Chilli Con Carne and many more home cooked specials. We recommend you visit Rays ll and don’t forget to mention you have seen them in the Weekly Buzz. Their VISTA CARD offer is 10% off the main menu. The prices and special offers in this article can only be found in Rays II.

ELCHE Elche is the third major city of the Valencian autonomous region in terms of population, territory and resources. It has an array of interesting places to visit, many of which few tourists get to see.

The city is known as the City of Palms due to the fact that it is located within the largest Palm forest in Europe. The Palmeral of Elche is surpassed in size only by some in Arab countries, and includes the Parque Municipal and many other orchards (huertos), covering over 3.5 km². It contains more than 11,000 palm trees, most of which are date palms, with a few trees up to 300 years old. At its peak, in the 18th century, it may have covered an area twice as large, with up to 200,000 trees. The dates are harvested in December. It is thought that palms were originally planted in this location as early as the 5th century BC by Carthaginians who settled in south-east Spain. The plantation survived under the Romans and was expanded under the rule of the Moors, including the irrigation system extended in the times of Abd ar-Rahman I and which remains in use today. The formal landscape of the Palmeral that still exists today was created when the city was under Moorish control in the 10th century. You can best explore Elche on foot. Why not climb the narrow steps up to the roof of the Basilica, from where you get a wonderful view over the city and its palms. You can visit the various museums including the award winning Archaeological and History Museum or get to know more about the palms at the Huerto del Cura. Stroll through the Municipal Park and go into the Visitors Centre for an audio visual introduction to the city or take the small Tourist Train. Elche has some great shopping. The Salvador Artesano shoe factory outlet is the largest of all the Salvador Artesano shops and is a must for all shoe lovers as it is about the size of a football pitch! Nearby is the El Corte Ingles, and The L’Aljub is a large indoor mall with Eroski, Bershka, C&A, Zara, H&M, Primark and many more shops, plus a Comic Park to keep the Children enter-

tained, and free parking! Elche had two major emplacements throughout its history. The first one was in the archaeological site of l’Alcudia, situated 2 kilometres (1.24 mi) south of the present city centre, from the Neolithic period until the Visigoth period and it offered the strategic advantage of easy defence thanks to the Vinalopó River. Up until 280 B.C was the splendid period of the Iberian civilization in which sculptures such as the Dama de Elche (Lady of Elche) were created. This sculpture is the main example of this period and it is kept in the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid and it represents the bust of a richly bejewelled woman. The Christian conquest by James I of Aragon in 1265 forced the Moors to move to the Raval de Sant Joan and the Jews to the present Church of El Salvador. In the early 17th Century, Elche lost one third of its population due to the expulsion of the Moors. In the 19th Century appeared the important activity of making espadrilles and it led to the present footwear industry that boosted the growing of the city.

Traditions The religious festivities mark the city calendar with unavoidable dates such as “Palm Sunday” that has been declared of International Tourist Interest. In this celebration thousands of Elche’s citizens parade along the streets bearing their blanched palm leaves in a beautiful prelude to Holy Week. The festivities reach their zenith in August with the celebrations in honour of the patron saint the Virgin of the Assumption. Celebrations begin with a procession of Moors and Christians. The streets are filled with lights, colours, splendour, fireworks and music for days. The Nit de l’Albà (the Night of Daybreak) is one of the most remarkable moments of the festivities: the Elche sky lights up with hundreds of fireworks honouring the Patron Saint and making magical the night of August 13th. The main event of the fiestas is the Misteri d’Elx (Mistery Play of Elx), a lyrical medieval drama depicting the Dormition and Assumption in Heaven of the Virgin Mary. Many citizens of Elche participate in this ceremony processing through the streets of the old Vila Murada, or walled city, bearing lit candles. There is also a pagan side of the fiesta since many of the citizens remain awake until dawn having fun. As well as its rich cultural heritage, Elche also offers a wide range of local dishes using the great variety produced in the

area. Its fertile region and proximity to the coast has historically influenced the local cuisine. The most widely known dish of Elche is “Arroz con costra” (literally, rice with a burnt base) but there also other delicious dishes such as “Arroz con Conejo y Caracoles” (rice with rabbit and snails) and “Puchero con Pelotas” (a type of stew with meatballs wrapped in cabbage leaves). Another exquisite dish is the “Mujol del Hondo” (mullet from El Hondo with garlic mayonnaise and local seafood). For dessert the locally grown fruits are delicious (dates, figs, pomegranates, etc.) as well as the “Tortada de Elche” (a tasty local sweetmeat) and the “Pan de Higo” (a cake of compressed figs with slivers of almond). Traditional drinks include the distilled flowers of Arabian lavender, distilled aniseed (the popular “Nugolet”) and date liquor.

Places of Interest • Tourist Office: more information about the museums, cathedral and buildings, as well as the walking routes, a summary of which is after the ideas of things to do in Elche section. The Best Boat Trips In Costa Blanca Excursiones Maritimas Benidorm SL has been offering the very best trips for 30 years to Benidorm Island and other fantastic destinations such as The Harbour of Calpe or The Historical Isle of Tabarca aboard their “Golondrinas” (Pleasure Boats) Catamarans and Aquascopes. Benidorm Island give us the iconic backdrop that you can see from the shoreline from the Levante beach all the way down to La Cala it is apparently the missing chunk that’s missing from the Puig Campana mountain behind Benidorm.

The Legend of Benidorm Island The story (apparently true) starts with a giant called Roldan who once lived on the mountain of Puig Campana. Roldans wife Alda was blessed with amazing beauty; in fact she was so beautiful that it angered the Gods, they were so jealous of her beauty that they condemned her to die on a summers evening at sunset. Roldan, who loved Alda very much, was furious with the Gods and as sunset approached, he could no longer control his anger so he kicked part of the mountain straight into the sea so the sunlight would not disappear, thus giving Roldan and his wife Alda an extra couple of minutes together before she died. Benidorm Island is said to be the missing piece of the mountain that Roldan kicked out. Benidorm Island is one of the most recognized symbols of the town and if you’ve never made the journey across the

bay to explore it, then you really should, because it’s a great day out. The boat leaves every hour from Benidorm Habour and goes back and forth and Rincon De Loix (In Spring & Summer) so you can spend as little or as long as you like exploring the island. The journey time takes around 20 minutes each way and costs 14€ for adults and 11€ for children. The island measures 260m by 350m rising to 73m above sea level and is situated just two and a half nautical miles from the coast, the island is uninhabited and is a protected national park so you can explore the island by walking the trails and see the flourish of plants and natural wildlife. The island also has a bar and restaurant so you can enjoy the fantastic view of the Benidorm coastline while having a spot of lunch, maybe some tapas with a nice cold beer or a cheeky ice cream.

The Yellow Submarine Included in the price of your crossing is another trip on the Yellow Submarine which takes you on a short ride round the side of the island and you’ll see all sorts of marine life. The vessel isn’t actually a submarine as it doesn’t go underwater, to be more accurate it’s an ‘Aquascope ‘which provides you with a fantastic underwater experience. You will climb aboard and down into the hulled out vessel which is glass lined, allowing you to see and enjoy the marine life in the clear waters. •Start or opening time: Departure every hour from 10am. •Departures from the port (el Puerto) all year round and from the boarding platform in the Rincón de Loix next to the Hotel Nadal during the spring and summer season Benidorm Island - Adults: 14, 00 € Benidorm Island - Children: 11, 00 €

How do we get to the port? To make the journey you must first find the port which is between bays where the Poniente beach starts. You can either jump in a taxi to the port (ask for ‘el puerto’) or if you’re on the Levante side of town catch bus number 1, 4 or 10 to

the end of the Avda Mediterraneo, walk along the Walking Street in the Old Town which comes out right by the port, then right to the end of the pier and that’s where you catch the boat.

The Historical Isle Of Tabarca The “Historical Isle of Tabarca” is a small island off Alicante’s coast, with a journey time of just two hours each way, aboard the high speed catamaran style vessel, this is another great day out especially as there’s a stop in Alicante for shopping and sightseeing on the way! The day costs just 27.50€ for adults and 18€ for kids and the boat departs at 10.30am. Tabarca is the only inhabited island in the Region of Valencia and is located opposite the city of Alicante, 11 nautical miles offshore and near the Santa Pola headland. It is approximately 1,800 metres long and measures some 400 metres across at its widest point.

Calpe The Rock of Ifach is more commonly known as “Calpe Rock” is the main attraction to tourists together with the harbour which is famous for its freshly caught fish, Calpe Rock has been a Natural Park since 1987 and if you are feeling energetic and adventurous you can even climb to the summit. Calpe was traditionally an agricultural population, producing almonds and raisins the economy also relied on fishing and salt extraction. The trip takes about 1 hour and only costs 22.50 for adults and 15 for kids, the boat leaves at 10.30am and the return journey from Calpe leaves at 4pm For more information call +34 96 585 00 52 or visit their office: Paseo Colón S/N Benidorm Harbour

“Fantastic bar friendly staff.” Reviewed 14 September 2013 Been going to Albir for the last five years and we have breakfast every day in The Universal. The coffee, croissant and spanish toasted baguettes are the best in town. All the staff are really friendly and professional, remembering what you like to eat and drink and enjoy listening to your broken Spanish with patience!. Wifi is available and they don't mind you sitting there for a couple of hours online, which is unlike some places. Spotlessly clean too.

The food is amasing and the staff amd atmosphere is so welcoming all the time. The quiz night is also one not to miss, such a laugh!! Deffinately go back when we come again!!

“Little diamond, well worth a visit” Reviewed 24 October 2013 Anyone visiting Benidorm has to visit the Keyhole. Situated in the central area between the Old and new town, this little bar offers everything at great prices. Paul and Natalie are very friendly and will make all feel welcome. Don't look at the map on Tripadvisor as this will be misleading. Head for the Burger King in the old town and it's just behind. Can't wait to visit next year.

“Always a quality welcome and quality food” Reviewed 13 January 2014 Great friendly people, and smashing food if you are after a taste of home. Real value for money meals and a cracking cuppa tea. Thank you guys. PS We tried out the new cheffette, and she passed!

Skin Protection from UV Rays Over-exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation either from natural sunlight or from artificial sources such as sunbeds is the main cause of 80% of skin cancers. So protect yourself when the UV index is 3 or higher. •When it is sunny, spend limited time outdoors during the peak hours of 11am to 3pm. •Sunscreens do not offer 100% protection and should be used in addition to other precautions. •Early detection of skin cancer is very important so examine your own skin approximately once a month. If in doubt, get it checked out by a GP. Also pay attention to the following risk factors: •Children - due to the sensitive nature of their skin should always be protected from the sun. •A personal or family history of having a melanoma.

sand, or other surfaces. •Find an obliging tree to cool down under. •Organise indoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

Clothing Clothing is one of the best ways to protect your skin from the sun. Remember peeling off that T-shirt and seeing that contrast in your skin colour? When picking clothes remember: •Choose lightweight fabrics and light colours. •Fabrics with a tight weave (cotton, hemp or linen) provide more protection. •Long sleeves, collars, long trousers or long skirts give greater protection. •Clothing that is old, worn or gets wet may offer reduced protection. •If you require very high UV protection, choose dark colours: these are better at absorbing UVR than light colours.

•UVA star rating of 4 or more Expense: Price is not an automatic indication of the quality of a sunscreen; the critical factor is that the sunscreen you purchase have an SPF of 15 or more and a UVA star rating of 4 or more. Applying sunscreen: Apply your sunscreen generously at least 30 minutes

Sun screen

•A large number of moles (50 – 100) or unusual moles (large, or of uneven colour or irregular border). •A history of severe sunburn especially in childhood. •Reduced personal immunity – for example due to an organ transplant.

Shade Staying in the shade is the most effective and inexpensive way to protect yourself from the sun. Remember - even in the shade use clothing, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. The best alternatives: •Bring your own shade – portable canopies, beach umbrellas or tents are excellent. Though canopies and umbrellas cannot protect against UV rays reflected from

Sunscreens should be used where there is the potential for your skin to be over-exposed to the sun. They should not be the first choice of protection but should always be used along with other forms of sun-protection. SPF (UVB): SPF stands for ‘sun protection factor’ and refers to the sunscreen’s ability to filter out Ultraviolet B radiation (UVB). SPF is a ratio worked out in the laboratory by measuring the increased amount of UVB radiation necessary to cause redness of the skin when the product is applied at a specified thickness compared to when it is not used. The higher the number, the greater the protection. A sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 will block 93% of UV radiation, while a SPF of 30+ will give you more protection, screening out 96% of UV radiation. UVA: UVA protection prevents against skin ageing by filtering out Ultraviolet A radiation (UVA). In the UK we measure UVA protection with the 'star' system. Sunscreens can have anywhere from 0 to 5 stars. Look for a star rating of 4 or more. Which sunscreen should I buy? For maximum protection, choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen that filters out both Ultraviolet A (UVA) and Ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation and has: •Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 15

before going outdoors. Most people apply too little resulting in 50-80% less protection than specified on the bottle. Reapply every 2 hours or more frequently especially if it is being rubbed off through swimming or exercise. It is important to remember that no sunscreen gives 100% protection against UV rays. Shelf life: All sunscreens should show an expiry date and storage conditions. Most sunscreens can last for two to three years when stored correctly. Sunscreens vary in their ability to withstand heat and may deteriorate more quickly if kept in a hot car. Sunscreen and babies? There is no evidence that sunscreen is harmful to babies. A baby’s skin is, however, very sensitive and it is preferable to use clothing, hats and shade to prevent over-exposure to UV radiation. Babies under 6 months should be kept out of direct sunlight. Once a day application sunscreen: Some sunscreens claim to provide effective protection after just one application. But we know that reapplying sunscreens regularly is very important because you are more likely to get even coverage and avoid missing bits that may then get burnt.

The Ten Emotions of Divorce

A marriage fails when it is easier to stop it than to try to make it work. Statistically, it is now more likely to fail than succeed. When it does, after the initial feelings of relief, powerful emotions arise that can be crippling. The ten most common emotions of a divorce are as follows:

Guilt You believed that your partner was “the one”. Being perfect, your partner could do no wrong and therefore the

break-up must be your fault.

Failure You did your best and it was not good enough.

Anger You keep saying to yourself, “Look what my partner did to me. What did I do to deserve such treatment?”

Confusion You cannot understand why your partner has left. It all seemed to be going so well. You were looking forward to growing old together. You had just made plans for the future.

Abandonment You have a feeling of being left alone.

Loneliness This is one of the real fears. The feeling that you will be alone, with no one to talk to or confide in haunts us all. All your friends are couples and you will feel excluded by being single.

Insecurity You are on your own, with no one to support you.

Low self esteem You feel worthless and your opinion does not matter.

Betrayal You feel let down by the one person in the world that you put your trust in. You will never be able to trust anyone again.

Rejection You gave your best and it was rejected. Surely you must

be truly worthless. What you need now is peace of mind; you need closure. This is not always easy and the wounds can remain open for years; some may never heal. Talking to friends can help, but they have their own opinions that cloud their advice. Though this is a breakdown of your marriage, it must not the breakdown of your life. EUROVISION Graham Norton commentates on the 59th musical extravaganza from Copenhagen, Denmark, who won last year with Emmelie de Forest's Only Teardrops. All eyes will be on Molly, who is aiming to become the first UK winner since 1997 with her self-penned anthem Children of the Universe, and Ireland's Can-Linn featuring Kasey Smith - assuming the latter made it through Thursday's semi-final.

A telescope has been installed at the Albir Lighthouse, the telescope which is the first of its kind that exists in Valencia, the project to get the telescope began a year ago when a campaign to raise money kicked off and people have been working hard to raise money ever since.

It is free to use and is estimated to be used by thousands of visitors who visit this area throughout the year. The official launch was at the end of April and has been hailed as a fantastic edition to the Lighthouse and for the people who take the hike up, it’s an extra incentive on top of the magnificent view you are already awarded with. TURN THE NOISE DOWN

The City of Alfaz del Pi wants to fight noise to protect the environment and, above all, the coexistence between citizens. Therefore, the local government has drafted a new law against excessive noise and vibrations which gives the power for people to be slapped with up to 2,400 euros in fines for those who violate the new limits, the law is expected to be approved this Friday The penalties vary depending on the infraction committed both by private individuals and by local business and also includes noise of vehicles. The new rule will give

minor violators a fine of up to 600 euros. This would include exceeding noise limits by less than 6 decibels and exceeding the agreed levels of vibration and also includes the lack of supporting documentation when checking sound levels. As for very serious infringements, fines range between 1201 euros and 2,400 euros which will entail the permanent revocation of the license in addition to the closure of the business in the event that the permitted noise levels are exceeded by more than 15 decibels.

According to the network of dolphin sightings (RAD) is very common to see dolphins, and whales and similar species from this privileged vantage point, especially in the vicinity of the fish farm where the animals go in search of fish to feed.

GIVE UP ON IE! Internet Explorer puts Windows PCs at risk of hijacking, fix coming – but not for all...

Microsoft has issued a warning about a newly discovered zero-day flaw in Internet Explorer, the first to be discovered after Windows XP reached end-of-life. The vulnerability is present in all versions of the software from Internet Explorer 6 (including 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11) and could allow for the remote execution of code if exploited. This has caused US-CERT, the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team, and its UK counterpart, UK-CERT, to issue a warning advising Windows XP users and those who cannot follow Microsoft's recommendations to use an alternate browser. Detailing the flaw in a blog post, Microsoft writes: "The vulnerability exists in the way that Internet Explorer accesses an object in memory that has been deleted or has not been properly allocated. The vulnerability may corrupt memory in a way that could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user within Internet Explorer." According to Microsoft, an attacker seeking to exploit the vulnerability via the web would be need to create a specially crafted website containing code to do so and

would also have to convince would-be victims to visit the site. Nevertheless, the company is advising all users to run an enabled firewall, apply all software updates and install antimalware software. A number of situations have been outlined that will mitigate user risk. By default, Internet Explorer on Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2 runs in a restricted mode that is known as Enhanced Security Configuration that reduces exposure to the flaw. Likewise, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, and Windows Mail open HTML email messages in the Restricted sites zone, again minimising risk. Microsoft has not yet released a patch to solve the issue, nor has it provided a date of when one might may be available. It has advised that a solution may be provided either through its monthly security update release process or via an out-of-cycle security update. Windows XP users will not receive a patch for the vulnerability, with support for the operating system having ended earlier this month.

It has been called the worst game ever made. ET - based on the hit movie and released in 1982 - was said to have been so bad that Atari buried a million unsold copies in shame at a New Mexico rubbish dump. But whether the story was true or not remained unclear until recently, when a major dig uncovered hundreds of copies of the notorious release. Some 200 gaming enthusiasts gathered at the landfill site Alamogordo, New Mexico, to watch bulldozers dig through concrete-covered rubbish. Executives from Atari, which has changed hands several times since the burial, were among those waiting with bated breath to find out whether the burial rumours were true. Spokesman Kristen Keller said the company had no "corporate knowledge" about the Alamogordo burial, adding: "We're just watching like everybody else." After hours of searching, the games were found, with

some copies being played in a makeshift gaming den in the back of a van. Among the watchers was Armando Ortega, a city official who was given a tip about the massive games dump by a landfill employee in 1983. In return for allowing the dig, the city of Alamogordo agreed to give the documentarians 250 cartridges or 10% of the quantity found, whichever is greater. Mayor Susie Galea said the haul could make the city a tourist destination. The ET game is particularly significant because it is one of the factors blamed for the decline of Atari and the collapse in the US of a multi-million dollar video game industry that did not bounce back for several years. Tina Amini, deputy editor at gaming website Kotaku, said the game was unsuccessful because it was so riddled with bugs "it was practically broken".

IS JOSE STILL ‘THE SPECIAL ONE’

Never one for using diplomatic language when there is an opportunity to throw a grenade into an already fiery situation, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was quick to label Arsene Wenger as a ‘specialist in failure’ prior to playing Arsenal in February. Ever keen to practice the dark arts of mind games, Mourinho appeared to have a hit a raw nerve with his Arsenal counterpart, though the subsequent 6-0 slaughtering of the Gunners further strengthened the convictions of the selfstyled ‘Special One’. Certainly Wenger has consistently failed to deliver any silverware in the last nine years of his tenure as Arsenal manager, but when a mirror is held up to Mourinho’s face does he still see a winner looking back at him? Having masterminded victory at Anfield last week to dent the Liverpool juggernaut Mourinho was being lauded, but defeat at the hands of Atletico and a draw at home to a weak Norwich has seen his reputation dented to the extent where even the sound of booing could be heard from some sections of the Stamford Bridge faithful. To be fair to Jose he has never wavered in his public declarations that his squad was not strong enough to win any of the major prizes this term but unfortunately for him this will be the second successive campaign where he has not led his team to any success.

Last year Mourinho’s Real Madrid were runners-up in both La Liga and the Copa del Rey, whilst a ruthless Borussia Dortmund destroyed them in the Champions

League semifinals. Indeed, out a possible 14 trophies Mourinho’s teams have only savoured two successes in recent years, not exactly the track record of a regular winner is it? Of course it would be ridiculous to write him off, just like

The 27-year-old, from Bolton, easily outpointed Luis Collazo in Las Vegas and still has sights firmly set on the undefeated world champion. "Definitely, people want to see that fight between me and Floyd," Khan said. "He's fighting guys who are strong, but styles make fights, and my style would cause Floyd a lot of trouble." Khan, fighting for the first time after a 13-month lay-off,

same MGM Grand card to unify the WBA and WBC welterweight belts. "Floyd looks beatable. A lot of people want the fight now because they want a young lion to come up and they want to see him get beat. The only person who has the chance to do that is me. "I'm very, very close to the Mayweather fight. The fight will happen because the public will demand this

with Maidana's trainer Robert Garcia in the immediate aftermath of the fight and promised a rematch. "If the fans want to see it again, we'll do it again," Mayweather said. A fight with Khan is, therefore, unlikely to happen in 2014 as Mayweather's next available slot, in September, is too close to the Muslim fasting period of Ramadan for the English boxer.

his old nemesis at Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola, the fact he has not enjoyed the sort of glory he usually enjoys does not mean he has had his day. But the stats do not lie, Mourinho appears to have lost that winning touch, and no amount of tantrums and aftermatch ramblings pointing the finger of blame at everyone but himself can hide the fact that Jose has failed to secure the objectives set before him. Barring a top-class striker, this current Chelsea team appear to possess all the tools necessary to succeed both domestically and in Europe. The argument that Mourinho has been let down by his forwards is somewhat undermined by the fact he appeared to keep all his eggs in the one basket by hoping to land Wayne Rooney. Surely someone as experienced as Jose would have known that having failed to lure the Manchester United striker to west London, he should have pushed the boat out in attempting to sign someone else of fine repute? Again also the inescapable thought of why he allowed Romelu Lukaku to go out on loan to Everton immediately springs to mind. Mourinho is box-office stuff, the Premier League is more enjoyable to watch now with him as a central character, though perhaps it is high time he begins to stop with labelling others as underachievers because two years without a trophy is really not that ‘Special’.

GOING BANANAS GOOD WEEK RONALDO SAVES THE DAY

Hulk, Neymar, Roberto Carlos... the world of soccer has taken to the social networks in support of Barcelona player Dani Alves, who was subjected to a racist taunt during a match against Villarreal last week. Murray weighing up McEnroe as coach Andy Murray says he would entertain having John McEnroe as his next coach. Following the departure of Ivan Lendl, the Scot wants the new man in place before he defends his title at Wimbledon next month. Murray, preparing for this week’s Madrid Open, described McEnroe being open to a discussion about the matter as something he would ‘take into consideration’. 'While it is tantalising, it is surely extremely remote, given the American’s many other commitments. ‘I still hope to have a coach, definitely before Wimbledon but I’d hope before the French Open,’ said Murray, whose opening opponent in Spain could be clay-court star Nicolas Almagro. ‘Ideally, I’d have someone who was No 1 in the world, who’s won 10 Grand Slams and would dedicate 25-

PREMIER LEAGUE COMING TO A CLOSE

With just a single week remaining in the English Premier League season, the championship and relegation races still have a bit of drama left. It appears the Week 37 results will ensure that Championship Sunday has significant implications for both the top and bottom of the Premier League Table. The league title remains City's to lose after their huge

win over Everton, 3-2. Should they beat Aston Villa and West Ham—with both games at the Etihad Stadium—they will be the Premier League champions with a superior goal differential to Liverpool, unless the Reds somehow erase a nine-goal deficit in that regard. Everton's loss also guarantees that Arsenal are heading back to the Champions League for the 17th straight year. And it means that Hull City are headed to the Europa League. The winner of the FA Cup automatically qualifies for the tournament, and Arsenal and Hull City are in the final. But since the Gunners are headed to the UCL, Hull gets the Europa bid by default. Everton, too, are headed to the Europa League, unless they lose their next game and Tottenham win while somehow erasing the

19-goal difference currently separating the two clubs in goal differential. Manchester United were hoping to keep their good form going, but they suffered yet another defeat, this time at the hands of Sunderland. Their 1-0 defeat looks to of saved Sunderland and hurt Giggs' small chances of landing the job on a full time basis. United were lacklustre, and everything they

weren't in their 4-0 victory over Norwich the week before. It’s rumoured Louis Van Gaal will be hired this week. While those clubs found some joy on Saturday, Fulham and Cardiff City are left with despair. Fulham have been dreadful all season long, while Vincent Tan's reign over Cardiff City continues to be controversial. Many will feel the team wouldn't be in this position had Tan not sacked Malky Mackay. As for Fulham, Felix Magath—the club's third manager since December— is already gunning for a return to the Premier League next season, as he told The Guardian on Twitter: With Liverpool playing next, can they move one step closer to winning this seasons Premier League title? It looks like things may come down to the final set of games next weekend.

Top 3 Battle in La Liga

www.vistacostablanca.com - 6th May - 12th May

Cristiano Ronaldo's stoppage-time goal salvaged a 2-2 draw for Real Madrid as they followed Barcelona and Atletico Madrid in dropping points on a dramatic weekend in the Primera Division title race. Valencia twice led at the Bernabeu before Ronaldo stabbed the ball home with a deft backheel two minutes into five added on while Barcelona also dropped points with a 2-2 draw with Getafe on Saturday. Real trail La Liga leaders Atletico, who lost to Levante earlier on Sunday, by five points. Atletico Madridd lost 2-0 on Sunday and left the door wide open for Real Madrid, but they struggled to win so we saw the top three teams all dropping points on the same weekend for the first time this season. Jeremy Mathieu put Valencia ahead moments before half-time, and, just six minutes after Sergio Ramos' 59th-minute equaliser, Dani Parejo put Los Che back in front. After Ronaldo levelled, both he and substitute Alvaro

Morata had golden chances for a winner but missed the target. Defeat for Carlo Ancelotti's

side would have left the title in Barcelona's hands, but the draw leaves it too close to call.

Atletico perhaps remain the favourites something which seemed unlikely when the final whistle blew on their loss at Levante, barely 24 hours after Barca had been held by Getafe. An early own goal from Filipe Luis put Levante ahead before David Barral added a decisive second midway through the second half. Carlo Ancelotti's side have a game in hand on both Atletico and Barcelona, who are two points ahead in second. Real have three games remaining and will take the title if they win all of them and Atletico lose one of their final two fixtures. Athletico Madrid’s final game is away to Barcelona, and conspiracy theorists may well have noted that should the three teams win all their games prior to the final day, there exists a scenario where a Barca win over Atletico could see them hand the title to arch rivals Real Madrid. However, Atletico know that, should they win their remaining two games, they will be champions for the first time since 1996.
