First and foremost, let me tell you what an honor it is to welcome you back to the Divas and Donors’ {ELITE}. Every year as sale time rolls around, it’s fun to sit back and take a minute to reflect on the past year. As I do so this year, I can tell you, it’s tough not to smile!! Talk about collecting some hardware. Supreme Foundation Female and Reserve Supreme Purebred Female at the 2015 Jr. Nationals! Supreme or Reserve Supreme at 3 major Midwest State Fairs! Supreme Animal at the Simmental Breeders Sweepstakes and countless Top 5 finishes and breed champions!!! A year to remember and a journey shared with some of the best homes in the industry, and for damn sure some of the best people! Without you guys none of this dream can happen, and we are thankful to you every single day! But without a doubt, the biggest smile of the year came with the arrival of Copeland Eldie Paulsen. At the end of the day, the banners are amazing, but being a dad to Kinnick and Copeland, and a husband to my best friend Carmen, is absolutely the greatest gift I have ever been lucky enough to receive. Along with them, are the special people that I’m very fortunate to call friends – always there to help and pitch in at the drop of a hat. Without you guys, anyone who’s ever had a sale knows, it wouldn’t be possible! So thank you so very, very much! Caden, Mollie, Mason, Rick, Brent, Wags, Jesse, Adam, Evan, and I’m sure more before sale day, THANK YOU! And now for the cattle! We as a group of {ELITE} consignors truly believe in these cattle, including their promise in the show ring and most importantly their ability to go to work and make money for their new owners, as well as making a mark not only in their respective breeds but on the entire industry! The quality here from the first open to the last bred is unmatched. These are maternal cattle! The kind we should have been striving to produce and sell all along. The right kind from the right breeders to back them up. These consignors are outstanding visionary cattlemen, and we are all here to sell and support the best cattle in the country! Please feel free to call and visit with any of the consignors about any of the lots, and for sure join us in Dixon, Illinois on December 13th for a very special {ELITE} event! See ya then! Jeff Paulsen and the 2015 {ELITE} Sale Group

The kind of female that leaves a lasting impression. You can analyze her lines. You can watch her stroll. You can look at her mouthwatering pedigree. And you can certainly picture the hardware that one this good will bring home over her show career and the pictures she’ll get to take. Not a freak. Just Good. Everywhere. Crazy good numbers and sexy good looks – trust me, this one has plenty of friends no matter who is crawling through her pen. Nothing gets me more excited than purebred cattle that look like %! And when you are done whippin’ everyone, call me to flush her. Ones like this easily make me look smart! I guarantee this one is ready to go play in the big time. * Retaining a 25% embryo interest in Lot 01

My good friend Kip Bonnell called me this summer and said I needed to come over because there was some “good stuff” I just had to see. Well if any of you know Kip or his program very well, that statement would be a pretty safe bet. The cow power at Kip’s plays 2nd to no one nowhere, and we have been lucky enough to sell some great cattle from him. His Drama Queen donor is one of the most consistent in the lineup. Multiple high sellers out of multiple sires. This young diva is sure to walk in her sisters’ and brothers’ footsteps. Out of the red hot Uprising bull, she is square built and sexy with power and elegance. Great haired and a great disposition. When they look like this and have a cow family like Drama Queen backing them, it’s a no brainer!

I have been accused of being too picky and critical when it comes to what I like in my Simmy cattle. I tire of hearing the phrase, “Well she’s good for a Simmy.” My passion is to raise or find Simmy cattle that are superior animals to any breed. When we only strive to be good in our breed and don’t try to raise fundamentally good, fault free cattle, that excel in the show ring and pasture regardless of breed, we aren’t getting the most out of our cattle. I sold Diamond to Randy and Troy a few years ago, where she went on to be one of (if not) the winningest show heifers in Simmental history! She has now backed that up by raking in the cash in production by most recently raising a $70,000 full sister to this female and the hot new sire Bandwagon! This heifer is an outlier. If you want the {Elite}, we have brought you the {Elite}. We have the track record to back these boasts up and I’m telling you, this one is special. Very special. I’m as excited about this one as the day we first clipped Diamond. Get in and get ready for the ride!

If you like your girls sound like I do, you’ll love this one. Great at the ground and superior from hock to pastern. The big belly and great extension. She’s the kind that when she’s a 3 year old nursing her 2nd calf, you’ll be dreaming of having a whole pasture full of them. I love all aspects of her pedigree too – Broker, Meyer 734, Goldmine. Yes, please! 2 scoops and I’ll have seconds! She will hold her own no matter where you show her, and I’m sure she’ll get the front pasture treatment as a donor. This kind with this yummy pedigree are extremely hard to come by, but we just so happen to love to breed ‘em this way, so you’re in luck! Now all you gotta do is bid last! No matter the $ – she will put more in the bank. * Retaining 2 flushes at buyer’s convenience and seller’s expense on the following: Lots 03, 04, 05, 13, 15, 23 and 30

The day this one was born, I had a pretty good idea she was good. 2 weeks went by and I started to brag a little. A month went by and all I could think to myself was, “You dumbass, don’t let her die!” Well as luck (and my great ranching skills) would have it, she never had a bad day and this little girl is the reason I believe in not only her exciting new sire Bandwagon but the future of this breed in general! The presence, quality, hair, and hype to please the pickiest of cattlemen. Great bone and feet and the knack of being the one everyone seems to see from a pen away and say, “What’s that one?” She’s what we as Simmental enthusiasts strive to raise to give the club calf guys fits! She’ll be in Dixon on the 13th. If you can’t find her, don’t embarrass yourself and ask – just follow the crowd! This one will live up to the hype. If you could buy groups of cattle like this female, building a cow herd would be easy! Stout featured, easy doing cattle that are incredible on their feet and legs. Plenty of eye appeal and the bloodlines to back them up! Dunk found this one out there in his native Husker land, and we all know that state produces some elite Simmental cattle. I would venture to bet you’ll hear from this one down the road from not only the backdrop, but for sure the donor pen! She’s just plain good cattle. Period.

This young purebred has had quite a few friends at the farm. So sound and angular with a great combination of power and look! Backed by the popular Bandwagon bull and a NAILE Champion dam, this young lady has as much promise as any in the sale. Now, the icing on the cake... she’s a maternal sib to last year’s high selling bull, Fast Lane! The genetic potency stacked on phenotypical excellence here is undoubted. She will be fun to follow in the show ring, but truly exciting as a donor!

When you see this donor in the making, I’m sure your first reaction will be, “Is she bloated? Do we need to get a hose? Did she eat Oprah?” Please don’t be alarmed, this one has that kind of rib and dimension every single day! She is for sure the kind anyone can build a program around. She’s easy doing, great necked and shouldered, and real sound. And the best part? You won’t have to haul any feed with you to the shows – lol! But seriously folks, this one is killer built with a matching killer pedigree – cow power for days! She has a great attitude and is easily mated. Wouldn’t you want 50 of these to keep back? Me too! Here’s your lucky day to grab one. Females like this are special and don’t come available often... so take advantage of this {Elite} opportunity!

Bone, hair, mass – Check. Body, presence, look – Check. Time tested proven cow family with a long track record of success – Check, Check, Check! This one just keeps getting found over and over again. She is real world cattle that even a discriminating commercial cattleman would find and say, “Boys we have ourselves a good one here!” With the added ability to make percentage or purebred stock, this little lady’s got it going on! And I’m not sure, but I’ll bet she is one of the iconic Obsession’s best yet! It’s females with pedigree and profile like this that put programs on the map. If you can’t tell, I have a lot of confidence in this one – and you should too! No such thing as a sure thing, but she’s damn close.

When you see this heifer she is so good-looking and elegant in her front 1/3. Super balanced with great lines of symmetry that just scream, “I’m gonna make a killer big one!” Plenty of power and softness combined with an awesome donor momma owned by Scott Campbell and Gary Simpson. Her mother is a freak of a donor with huge bone, a jacked neck, and impeccable structural integrity. All I can say is – like mother, like daughter. This one will get it done!

Hmmm...Sweet baldy face hooked onto a long freaky neck and attached to a flat shoulder...go on, I’m listening...opens up into a bold sprung big rib and flows back to a wide square pinned rear one third with lots of dimension. C’mon it’s just getting good! Step back and she’s picture perfect with jet black hair and a running gear to roll with. Now just throw on the show halter, walk in, and watch ‘em drool and stare. Like my bedtime story? Of course you do, everyone loves a Fairytale! Best part of this Fairytale? She’s REAL! Here’s one that nobody at the farm misses, for obvious reasons – she’s a knockout! Take this beauty home and write your own story...something tells me it’ll be more fact than fiction!

We have had considerable success in the Simmental show ring. And a good % of that success has been in the foundation ring. We had a Jr. National Champion this year with a % Broker female. We had Reserve Supreme at both Iowa and Illinois State Fairs with % Broker females and a list too long to mention of Broker % females that have consistently ended up in the winner’s circle! Notice a pattern? Well if you don’t, you have about as much common sense as those who won’t allow the pledge of allegiance in our schools! Anyway, with all of the truly special % Broker females we’ve had our hands on, I truly believe this is one of the best, if not the best. She is so good everywhere, it’s scary. She’s what we call a “big boy show kind of a heifer.” I don’t need to describe this female further than to say – SHE IS INCREDIBLE! Come to Dixon December 13th. She alone is worth your fuel and time. I’ve searched high and low to find these females, and she is the crème of the crop!

Bandwagon : SIRE TC Freedom : DAM DOB: Jan | Reg# pending | Foundation Simmental

If there’s any doubt as to whether or not Bandwagon is here to stay, or has lived up to his hype, the females in this sale should put that debate to rest! This strip-faced beauty will definitely show you what he can do on Angus – a silhouette to die for, plenty of power and performance, and that look of a great yearling. The extension in this female is second to none. She’s great haired and will dress up like a bada%#! We’ve sold a lot of great % cattle, and this one will fit right in with the top of them. Get your hand up and get yourself a good one here!

Ronda! Aptly named by Caden in the barn after UFC fighter Ronda Rousey! Not sure if it’s because of her sexy good looks or her ability to put an A%# whoopin’ on the competition – I’m going with a combination of both! When my good friend Ethan called and said he thought he had a great Bandwagon, I believed him. But when he pictured her and posted it to Facebook, Holy Moly! She became an overnight star! She is so unique. Loads of power and body but yet oh so feminine and sexy! Cool marked head with great natural presence and super hair. Ronda can win the big ones – just get her in the ring and let her show the competition her rear naked choke!

A dual registered diva packed with quality and a whole lot of WOW factor! This strip faced beauty will be hard to miss on sale day – long spine, great neck and head, big square hip, and great feet. It’s so hard to find cattle of this quality that are dual registered and can compete in either ring. She’s out of a gorgeous young cow that is hard to miss in the Bernard pasture. Carmen and I truly value Jamie and Jackie’s friendship and commitment to what we see for the future of Divas and Donors. Back to this dual registered beauty, two words come to mind – Fault Free. Moderate skeleton, huge bellied with great shape AND a great look! Perfect feet and athleticism – topped off with a pairing of show ring look and maternal prowess! Cherry on top? She has the same crazy good hair as her sisters, same body and bone, and the same overall quality! What this one has on the plus side is being able to be shown both Foundation Simmy AND MaineTainer! Yep, you read right. The hottest Angus pedigree in the country. What the Cabin Creek Sandy cow has done in the last couple years is insane! And when you see this young {Elite} lady you will once again see why. She’s the absolute perfect combination of femininity and power. Smooth shouldered and huge bodied with athletic feet and legs. Square pinned and great in her spine, and don’t forget – she’s HAIRY! One like this can be dominant in both the show ring and the donor pen. Looking for a Hereford for the big boy shows? Pay attention here! When I stopped at the legendary Hoffman Ranch, Jason said he saved me a young one that was special. The amount of purple in this one’s pedigree is rivaled only by the purple at a Prince concert! She may be young and green, but I can tell you the quality has always been there and continues to catch up every day. SO good starting at the ground and working her way up. Awesome balance and ample power with that no holes look! Jason told me that this one could be one of the best they ever sent out the door. I believe him. Yes, we sold an extremely good purebred Charolais female last year in the Divas and Donors’ Elite. Yes, she went on to be the Champion Charolais female at both the Iowa Beef Expo and Iowa State Fair. And yes, I believe this one will give her ALL she wants! She came in a little greener than the one last year, but oh my, has she come on! Sound as you can build one with killer good looks and all the maternalness one could need. She has exploded as of late, and I’m confident she will never look back. I called Chris Effling to see what he thought was out there this fall for Char females, and he said he hadn’t seen “the one” yet but wished he could find a dang good Firewater x 0641. Not only is this heifer way good, but she is backed by one of the best cows in the Maine-Anjou breed, Lucky Lady 71N. A $57,000 maternal sister was a NAILE Champion for the Grauer family, and just last year a full sib sired by Daddy’s Money commanded $68,000 selling to Sara Sullivan and went on to be named Reserve Grand Maine female at the NWSS. This female was originally marked for the replacement pen, but after pleading with Kip to get her, he caved and she came to Preston. She has not been on show feed as long as the rest of the Divas, but I’ve always liked cattle that have future & continue to improve. Her donor produced a $30k Irishman heifer in last year’s sale. A great young cow prospect with a top shelf pedigree and built to raise a good one year after year. Great looking with plenty of power and super feet and legs. She’s bred early to the Knockout King bull – we think this mating could be the ticket right off the bat!

DOB: Spring 2014 | Pb Simmental Reg# 2873620 Shocking Dream x JJ Black Obsession TJSC Knockout King 6/4 : AI

The cow power of the Obsession cow family is second to none and this bred is just another example why. The extension and look with balance and eye appeal that she transmits is hard to find in the Simmental breed. The daughters are easy to use in a variety of settings and have been extremely fertile with excellent longevity bred in. Very few Obsession daughters will be hitting the block in the future due to her age. This is a great opportunity here!

DUE 1/29 | DOB: Spring 2014 | MAINE 3 Kings x Exaltation son / Maxi son (PB Angus) Daddy’s Money 4/19 : AI Clean Frisky Whiskey : PE

This is an awesome breeding piece – one of my top picks hands down. Truthfully, she is the one I wanted to keep back of all the 3 Kings, but you know how hard Jeff Paulsen can twist an arm? The build this female has with muscle shape and skeletal design is incredible, and her feet and legs are perfect. Her balance is phenomenal – so bid early, and bid often. This is a perfect example of what keeps me going every day, to produce quality cattle of this caliber. And I sure hope they bring you as much success and happiness as they have done for me. DUE 3/1 | DOB: Spring 2014 | MAINE 3 Kings x Angus Daddy’s Money 4/19 : AI Clean Frisky Whiskey : PE

Pretty, pretty, pretty is the best way to describe this female. She is a maternal sib to Courtney Swalve’s 2012-2013 winning show heifer. Look for this female to do big things down the road; she will end up in someone’s donor program. Her mother earned her way to the donor pen by producing great cattle like this. Maternal Sister to Lot 58

DUE 2/14 | DOB: Spring 2014 | MAINE 3 Kings x Maxi son (Angus) Daddy’s Money 4/19 : AI Clean Frisky Whiskey : PE

These 3 Kings on Angus females will keep a guy in this club calf business for a while. With the amount of look and style this female possesses, these chubby, clubby, plainer bulls being promoted will click perfectly on her.

DUE 3/1 | DOB: Spring 2014 | MAINE Frisky Whiskey x Ramblin Fever Brilliance 4/28 : AI Settler son : PE

If any of you ever wonder what Frisky’s mother looks like, well pretty much a spitting image of this one – moderate, big backed, and stout with lots of hair. I sure would like to see what the king Heat Wave could do on this one someday!

DUE 1/29 | DOB: Spring 2014 | MAINE Hard Whiskey x #40 Bachelor Daddy’s Money 4/19 : AI Settler son : PE

Unique offering here – a maternal sister to Frisky Whiskey’s dam. A direct daughter from donor #40 that has produced over $100,000 worth of cattle in her lifetime and keeps cranking them out. This one without a doubt will make you money. The way #40’s daughters consistently produce great ones is unreal. Look for this female to breed hair, look, and stoutness. She will be one to make some great steers, so get that Monopoly semen out when she comes into heat this spring!

This is a very special individual, coming from our best cow family – the 7736 line. She is one of the most powerful, biggest bodied females in the offering. Three Kings has been making his mark and gaining popularity as an Irish Whiskey son that breeds most similar to Irish Whiskey. This one is donor quality; a mating to Heat Wave could just pay next year’s farm payment!

DUE 2/7 | DOB: Spring 2014 | MAINE Irish Whiskey 13 (Irish Whiskey/ Angus) x Angus/ Who Made Who Daddy’s Money 4/28 : AI Settler Son : PE

AI DATE: 5/3 AI SIRE: HERE I AM

When Rylee set out on this journey ten years ago, raising good cattle and developing great cow families was the ultimate goal. She always knew that the main purpose was a college tuition account. That doesn’t make this day any easier. Sapphire is, without a doubt, one of the coolest females to grace the pastures of our farm. Besides these two daughters that sell here with her (Lots 67 and 68), in 2013 she raised a killer Walks Alone steer that traded at $12,000. In the last two years, there were 2 more incredible daughters by Broker and No Surprise. This mating to Here I Am should be a walk off home run! The proof is beside her and the future is in front of her. Jewels this proven and this young are not offered very often. She has not, cannot, and will not miss!

People wear out trucks searching for club calf donor cows of this magnitude. Her sire, Troubadour, has had a large presence in this industry and I think we are just touching the tip of the iceberg. She has left us with a huge contribution to the Sapphire cow family – with two outstanding daughters by Jake’s Proud Jazz and Time’s A Wastin’. Gem will easily be a top addition to any program. It’s hard to find cattle with this much rib that still maintain this kind of look. Safe to Fu Man Chu and credentials that are handed out to very few, this young rock star will be selling out shows all over the country!

This one is more undeniable power from the Sapphire cow family. She will keep you up at night thinking of all the possible ways to mate her. The impact her sire, Who Made Who, has had on this industry is unprecedented. She as well has made two really awesome contributions to the legacy with an Eagle Eye and a Troubadour daughter, as well as a Man Among Boys steer that was very successfully shown by a Michigan family. Onyx is super long necked and smooth shouldered. She is thick made and good down through her flank. Safe to No Surprise, this one has the genetic tools and physical attributes to go places that most will only dream of!

Choppin’ Wood x 107 steer

Every time Maxine walks by, I swear you can feel the earth move. The power and substance this female possesses is second to none. She is a maternal sister to Sapphire, stemming from the same great EXT / Throttle cow. She has had several very successful matings starting with an Eagle Eye daughter that is equally as impressive as her mother, followed by a Yellow Jacket steer that sold for $8000 and stood 2nd in a very competitive middle weight class in Houston. Then a $9000 Choppin’ Wood steer and last fall another $6500 Solid Gold son. The anticipation of what she and Broker can do will make February something to look forward to. I just flat love this cow! Without question, she needs and deserves strong consideration.

MEYER 734 : SIRE SHEER FORCE : DAM DOB: 4/15/09 | AI: 5/10 – HERE I AM

Here is a cow that holds a pretty special place in our hearts. From the morning she hit the ground, Rylee and I just knew she would do extraordinary things. Real sweet fronted, bold sprung, great hipped – and when put in motion, she moves like a cat. Trying to find that in a ¾ Simmy female is next to impossible. But it doesn’t stop there for this starlet. She was a major contributor to our fall program with a Troubadour heifer; a Troubadour steer at $5000; an Uno Mas steer at $6000 and this past February, a Broker heifer at $10,000 that will be a major player in that purebred division. If there was an API number for cows that can just flat get it done, Carly would be off the charts. History is on her side, time is on her side. This is a major donor candidate, and one that we are extremely proud to feature.

A front pasture cow here! She’s built like a linebacker and sexy as a centerfold. If you’re into raising high dollar show steers, this one here is your ticket. Who Made Who cows bred to Monopoly are a no miss!

She is super hairy, sleek fronted, and stout as the day is long. So whether you’re looking to raise show steers or show heifers, this female can do both! Buy with absolute confidence – I love this female’s build, and she’s been proven to make money.

Walks Alone by Cow 55

This cow comes from a long line of superior females. The 55 cow family traces back 4 generations to a ground sow of an Angus cow by Great Western. Today, there are upwards of 20 cows proudly representing the 55 line in our operation. Two years ago, she raised an Eye Candy steer that went on to be Champion AOC at the California State Fair. Last year was a Walks Alone steer ear marked for Dallas, and this year a stunning No Surprise heifer calf. Cows like this keep you in business for a long time. Powerful hipped with a ton of rib and capacity. Proven, proven, proven. The phenotype lives up to the hype that the genotype represents. DOB: 9/3/10 | AI: 5/9 – FU MAN CHU TROUBADOUR : SIRE WHO MADE WHO : DAM

This daughter of Troubadour is extra special! Troubadour has had a huge presence in our cow herd. From the moment we started using him, his progeny always find their way to the top of the ranks. Her track record has been stellar – a Turton daughter that we sold for $8000; a MAB at $6500 and an Excel 8001 daughter that is just flat good. 2Y can be mated many ways. Females with this much look and power, and that are this complete, are hard to find. This is a major donor candidate and one that we are certainly proud to say, “yeah – we raised that one!”

DOB: 3/12/10 | AI: 6/5 – HERE I AM MAXIMUS : SIRE WHO MADE WHO : DAM

Phyllis is one of the stoutest cows you will see this weekend and maybe most of the fall. The bone and foot work on this beast is unparalleled by her contemporaries. She has a powerful hip and lots of look and style to go along with it. She also has a lot of rib shape and flank to be as cool and stout as she is. Her resume is equally as impressive – a $7000 MAB steer; a $5000 Lone Ranger; and a Walks Alone heifer that might be as impressive as she is. This is an extraordinary cow with an awesome udder and the ability to get it done. She’ll surely rise to the top of any progressive program.

This daughter of Dr. Who and granddaughter of Meyer 734 is built right. Long fronted; big topped; stout with a powerful hip; she’s correct in her design and has the look to produce major champions. With all that being said, Holy Crap!! Did you see her??!! This is what, in our opinion, the perfect maternal club calf cow looks like. To date, she has been a heifer maker from Maximus, Heatseeker, and Monopoly, but this mating to Here I Am is very exciting! Find this girl on sale day – she alone is worth the trip to Dixon!

7Y’s mother was a highlight in the Foundation Sale a few years ago and I have to say, this vixen didn’t fall far from the tree. I’m not sure how you would pack much more power and style into one very moderate package. We have two very impressive daughters by 969 and Jake’s Proud Jazz that are so complete. As they come into production, it’s easy to see just why we loved Grandma so much. Safe to MAB – it’s like Christmas coming twelve days early!
