The SAMMAN collektion SAMMAN arose from a trip to southwest India, where we visited small local weaving units and were introduced to the beautiful hand woven cotton. Furthermore SAMMAN visited a small village in the middle of the jungle where the women were weaving mats from screw pine using old weaving techniques, which at the moment are in danger of becoming extinct in the course of the near future. In this Collection, which is only made from hand woven cotton and woven screw pine fabric from the villages in India, SAMMAN wants to raise awareness on the dying craft possibilities through the aesthetic focus on structure and contrasts between rough, stiff, heavy materials and the light and thin hand woven cotton fabrics.
