Time It’s Tinsel
Now in its 8th
year, the beloved nighttime chauffeured shopping experience Tinsel is right around the corner!
The Tinsel vibe is fun, festive, social and in a way, like a miniadventure. What friends will you run into? Will you go home with some great finds? What food and drink should you try next? What’s the next stop on the shuttle route? So how did Tinsel begin? Matt Snyder of PinPoint Events often thinks about what events Shreveporters travel to attend as well as the types of events he enjoys. One of his goals is to create the same kinds enjoys. One of his goals is to create the same kinds of cool and sought-after events for all of us to enjoy right here. Snyder is also a vocal supporter of the uniqueness of our area and our numerous small uniqueness of our area and our numerous small businesses. His answer to Black Friday was to create a holiday shopping event to drive shoppers to locally owned businesses on the following Friday, and Tinsel was born. Snyder and Chrissi Coile Reesby produce and manage the Tinsel event. The first Tinsel had 81 shoppers and in 2021 had grown to 411. Some ladies love to leave their husbands and children at home for a night out of fun and others go for some serious shopping! “I love it for both of those groups,” Snyder said. He says there’s a large group that comes from East Texas for a fun Shreveport shopping girls night. And even though Tinsel is thought of by many as a girls night out, guys are welcome to show up too! Snyder, who puts on several local events throughout the year, loves how everyone is so happy and full of Christmas spirit at Tinsel. There’s a lot to do during the four-hour event. Tinsel shoppers begin and end at Superior’s Steakhouse. From there they ride on iShuttle vans and buses to multiple stops along Line Avenue, shopping after-hours in over 30 of the area’s most popular stores. Along the Tinsel route, store participants offer complimentary food, beverage, entertainment, and exclusive discounts for beverage, entertainment, and exclusive discounts for Tinsel shoppers. Tinsel 2022 is Friday, December 2, from 5-9:00 pm, and tickets are $35.
