HE SAID:
I love getting inspired by every new experience in front of me and creating an image that is thrilling and exceeds my client’s expecations. I love making people laugh and have them see their beauty in a way that they have never seen in themselves before. I love to travel and use the new landscapes as my blank canvas by finding interesting texture, light in unexpected settings and angles.
SHE SAID:
What I love most about photography is connecting with incredible people at their happiest moments and capturing the ‘hero’ shot on their wedding day. I’m happiest as an artist by being able to showcase that hero shot as a statement piece on the walls of their home so that every time they walk by they smile, feel incredible inside and carry that happiness throughout their day.

About 6 months prior to your big day, we jump on the phone and review special locations, travel plans, wardrobe ideas and plan out the adventure of your engagement session. Â The session is 1-2 hours, 1-2 locations and 1-2 changes in clothing - something sophisticated, sassy and something casual, fun. Â You laugh with nerves, gaze into the eyes of your future spouse, kiss and we have a ton of fun creating some amazing imagery. We plan the premier to see your images 2 weeks out and you get to pick the favorites for your guestbook, save-the-date or to decorate your home.

We photograph your wedding day story which means that all those details will have creative photo’s as well, including the dress, shoes, jewelry, flowers, tux, rings, invites, groomsmen and bridesmaid gifts, family heirlooms....the something new, old and blue! Anything you’ve prepared ahead of time to match the theme of your wedding is important for us to capture.
TIP: Organize and gather all the bridal details and all the groom’s details in one area within each of your getting ready rooms, (rings, including your engagement ring if you wish to have it photographed, should be in the grooms room). We will shoot everything in the group and return it to the same area so it’s super organized. 28

“We want to see all our guests having a great time and spend time with friends and family”, we hear time and time again when we ask most brides and grooms what’s most important in their wedding. Because of this, we are big fans of the first look. Don’t get us wrong, we totally respect that dream you’ve had since you were young about having your groom see you for the first time as you walk down the isle and if this is what you would like to do we are 100% with you!
If your open to a first look, (where you see each other prior to the ceremony), you will be rewarded with many advantages, including being able to have both your group family portraits and the bride/groom artistic session finished before the ceremony so now when your ceremony ends, you get to join your party!! We look for a private setting for your first look with great light for photographs so this becomes an extremely emotional moment. Don’t worry, walking down the aisle is just as thrilling with a first look.

Prior to your wedding day you’ll fill out an online pre-consult form where you choose all the different bridal party and family group portrait configurations you would like us to photograph. We shoot a mix of fun casual shots and beautiful formal portraits. These typically take 30-45 minutes to complete.
At your wedding we choose one location that will allow us the best light during the time when we will be photographing these group images and by using the list you’ve created, we can efficiently photograph these group photos and get everyone back to the party!

This is where your creativity shines and we are delighted to showcase your hard work!

CEREMONY Many of our clients will say to us after the wedding, “we never saw you during the ceremony, but how did you get these amazing pictures?!” It’s no secret, we feel very strongly that we need to be as unobtrusive as possible during your ceremony.
We work in unison during this time to capture the moments in a documentary style fashion. We work with your officiant as well to achieve the best possible results. Having two photographers gives you images of the moment, the reaction and both wide and tight shots of the kiss!
TIP: Have a sign (or have the officiant ask before the ceremony starts) for an unplugged ceremony. Having guests walking around or in the aisle is disruptive to the moment and we would much rather capture smiles, laughs, clapping, tears and faces instead of Ipads and smartphones. 541.350.2136

CR EAT I VE P O R T RAITS This hour out of your wedding day is ultimately why you choose us for your wedding photography. Our fine art photography skills utilize the landscape of the venue and surroundings to create energetic and vibrant images that are as distinctive and unique as you are. We compose and direct during this time to place you in the best scene to create timeless images. Essentially, this is your 2-3 hour engagement session rolled up into one hour on your wedding day. If there are locations near by that you would like to visit for these portraits this is always possible and only require it to be worked into your timeline for the day. With a first look, you can choose to do these before or after your ceremony. Otherwise, these are done right after the group portraits after the ceremony.
TIP: Double check sunset time and schedule 10-15 minutes during your reception right before to capture a few additional portraits in the best possible light for photographs. Those 10 minutes will be worth it!

R ECEPTION We typically work with the bride and groom, DJ or coordinator during this time to get the best images possible during the grand entrance, toasts, first dances, cake cutting, bouquet and garter toss, special surprises, sparkler or special exits. After these traditional moments are over and the dancing begins, we work to get images of everyone having fun on the dance floor and surrounding area! If you are off chatting with your friends and family, we will only follow you if requested as we want you to have time away from the camera as well.
This can be a good time to capture any relaxed friend or group photos so you would just need to let us know ahead of time and one of us will follow you while you round up your groups. The day of slideshow, a highlight of the night and unique to Byron Roe Photography, will typically go up after the last formal moment such as the cake cutting. We place the slideshow where we know lots of people will see it (like the bar area) and once it is running we walk away, it’s viral and ALWAYS a bit hit!
TIP: Most couples do not know that you cut the bottom layer of the cake so you can save the top for the 1 year anniversary.

T IM ELINES We play a part with you and your coordinator to lay out a timeline that will allow you to have as much time with your family and guests as well as allow for the time needed to capture the moments our clients expect in photography. Adding plenty of buffer is so important to create less stress and no need to rush to anything on your big day.

TIP: We love our hair/makeup artists and the getting ready moments but it’s the first thing that can throw off the whole day and make it more stressful if it takes too long. They always like having the bride go last so everything is fresh, so planning the timeline so there’s plenty of time to relax after they are done and it’s not a rush to throw the dress on is very important.

FAQ s Q) What’s in your gear bag?
Q) What are your backups?
We photograph using only professional grade Nikon camera bodies and lenses that allow us the fine art creativity. We also have a variety of light modifiers, reflectors, gels, remotes, lightstands and scrims.
You hire a professional who has the insurance and backups in place for ultimate safety of your event and image safe-keeping. We have backups with us at all times during your wedding in case of the unexpected. Once the day is complete, we have a redundancy system where all your wedding images are backed up on multiple hard drives at our studio as well as keeping a copy offsite.

Q) Do I need an engagement session? Trust and confidence is the key to relaxing and being in the moment on your wedding day and the engagement session is the building block to build the trust and comfort in knowing how you will look in our images before your big day. Before and during the engagement session it is common to be nervous because most people have never been in front of camera for professional photos. After seeing your engagement images, much of the photography stress will be lifted on the day of your wedding as you will know and trust that we will only be creating amazing work for you!
