Manifesto The bio-innovation research facility in Quebec focusing on various research areas, such as microbiology, biotechnology, biotanic, sustainable technologies, etc. The objective of the studio is to encourage students to engage with the environmenal and architectural parameters of the project conjointly. The landscape and the built environment will come together as one productive ecosystem, simultaneously natural and artificial. The site is in a hypothetical Quebec landscape. The project aims to establish a link between nature and the human world. The building marks both the end of the village expansion onto the hill, and the descent of nature into the urbanized area. The Research Center acts as a medium to catalyze reactions between nature and the visitors. It fosters an intricate integration of landscape and architecture as connected elements rooted in a larger ecosystem.

Site Functions The Site is located at Baoshan District, the north of Shanghai. Baoshan as the entrance of Shanghai consists of various functions, such as steel industry, and has history of anti-Japanese War. The site, facing to Yangtze River, is near a park and residential area.
Water system & transportation The site The East Sea has its special location at the estuary of Yangtze River. After the Treaty of Nanjing, 1840, Shanghai was opened as the first five treaty ports of China. Western goods were transported to Shanghai and the Jiangnan Region via the long-term developed water system. Industrial Wharf

The proposal takes its location at the Yangtze River and its historically strong relation to water transportation as an inspiration to rethink architecture as a navigational device. With functions related to a small boat terminal and a museum of navigation, the proposal does not only reflect the history of navigation but also navigates people to imagine a better future for Baoshan. Manifesto To design a work space is a chance to redefine what work is. The project is to explore not only new possibilities for interior working spaces, but also the implications, consequences and opportu- nities that a building of this nature may have in the urban context in which is placed. The built environment provides the scenario in which the social and individual life occurs and to draw a clear division between when our activities dictate how the environment should be designed, and when the built environment defines how our activities occur.

Manifesto This project is located near Taihu Lake where owns strong distinctive regional and geographic characteristics. Originally, villages covered this area. Now, luxurious hotel, vacational villages and high-rise residential buildings are built nearby. Most traditional Suzhou houses were destroyed with the growth of hgih modern buildings. It is a common situation existing in China. The design focuses on respecting localized features, such as local material and the water condition of Taihu Lake. Moreover, it responses to the high development speed of China. The future of this area can be foreseen based on the current situation. Those two buildings are designed to create a pure teaching environment which is next to the nature and fit into surrounding changing built condition. Bridges or staircases are used as primary design elements in order to respond to break current education dilemma. Bridges not only work for connection, but also to break the restriction of space, which creates shared learning place, free flowing space, or interconnected space.

Manifesto The project asks to design a house for an artist. Its location is in Suzhou OldCity and surrounded by vernacular buildings. Moreover, one of the best Suzhou garden is next to the site. The creative process asks for curiosity, for free-thinking people to explore the world around them. A house for an artist requires an atmosphere for creativity, and spaces for thinking. The design mainly focused on respecting local tradition, especially architectural culture. It tries to hide and fit the new house in the surrounding environment. Allow the building have dialogues with the nature and create opportunities for neighborhood communication.

Manifesto Parametric design mixs with glass craftwork decoration to study building density and light effect in Shipai City Village.
Density variation-Glass powder fusion Manufacture of models were guided by parametric design method, and glass powder was chosen as experimental material, according to its materiality, different thickness and density may have different effects on fusion outcome.
Water cut model-Casting According to the height of buildings, a grid net was generated and refined. When it is casted by glass, the void space underneath represents the variation of building heights.
Temperature variation-Gravity distorsion Use parametric design method to guid models and placement of materials. Under different temperature condition, the distortion of glass varies. Therefore, we used two types of glass (stick and plank) to conduct this experiment.
