On a bright note, the real estate market in Charlottesville and the surrounding counties has been, and continues to be, extraordinarily robust. As of March 23rd, 2020 in Charlottesville and Albemarle, 240 residential properties have sold and an additional 388 properties have gone under contract since February 1, 2020. The story is no different for $1,000,000+ properties. 9 properties sold for $1,000,000 or more since February 1st and 14 more have gone under contract in this timeframe. Our agents represented 13 of these 23 sellers and 9 of these 23 buyers.
While there is no question that the COVID-19 crisis is of grave, and at this point, unquantifiable concern, this is also a time of historically low interest rates. In our technology-driven era, most of the real estate buy and sell process can and should be done from home.
