real advantages At CommunityAmerica, our goal is to give you those little perks that just make banking a heckuva lot easier. And since we know that your life doesn’t stop on Sunday, we figured we probably shouldn’t either. That’s why we’ve got 11 branches that stay open seven days a week to help you handle all your financial needs. Even on Sunday. After all, banks are open when it’s convenient for them (that’s why they call them “banker’s hours”), not when it’s convenient for you. Once again, we start where banks stop. To find out which branches are open seven days a week, visit cacu.com or flip ahead to the back of the magazine. Open Sundays: Now you can rest easy on your day of rest.

One FREE introduction to financial education. Learning basic financial skills doesn’t start when you’re 70, it starts when you’re closer to seven. That’s why we want your kids to join our sock puppet savings team – Socky Savesalot, Smart E. Spender and Sunny Shareaton – three button-eyed and yarn-haired experts who will help make financial education interesting to the little ones. So come on in to a CommunityAmerica branch, open a Cash 'N Coins account and get a special 3-D Saver for your child. For free. It’ll help them learn when to save, when to spend and when to share. Oh, and it’ll also teach them that sock puppets are super cool.

Smash the SMiSh. Intel: What is SMiShing? Alright, SMiShing is a new version of an old email soldiers. I scam called phishing. When scammers go know you’ve phishing, they tell you that a bank account or credit account of yours is about to be been through closed unless you respond immediately scam protection basic by making a payment or confirming your training. You know not to give out your identity through one of the aforementioned important numbers. information to that Nigerian prince who’ll give you half of his sizeable SMiShing pulls the same stunt, but uses fortune if you’ll tell him your bank cellular technology. Most of the good account number. But those low-down troopers out there know all about email scams so they have their defenses on red dirty scammers are sneaky, and alert. But with text messaging, we’re not so they’ve got a whole slew of new ways careful, so scammers can use this channel to get around your flank. to get your cash. The biggest one: SMiShing, also called SMS phishing. Recon: What could go wrong?

Lucky for you, ol’ Sarge is right here to give you the intel, recon and firepower to protect your dough and keep scammers at bay.

When you give away your information, the better question is what CAN’T go wrong. If you get SMiShed, you can have your identity stolen and bank accounts emptied.

Some SMiShing text messages can even install trojan horses that invade your phone and let the bad guys listen to your conversations.

Firepower: Shoot down those pesky scam attempts. Next time you venture out into celluland, make sure you’re protected. Never give out your cellular number to somebody you don’t know and trust, and if you do get a suspicious text, don’t respond. Just delete those bad boys and move right on by. Oh, and by the way – if you ever (and I mean ever) get a suspicious email claiming to be from CommunityAmerica, you make sure to let Sarge know at abuse@cacu.com. And make sure to tell me exactly what those mangy mutts SMS’d or emailed to you – because I want them to know exactly what to tell them to shove up their – well you get the picture.

Actually three water slides in one, this ride shoots you through over 900 feet of twisting, turning track at facemelting speeds.

This bad boy will take you from zero to 70 in just enough time (about four seconds) to realize that this may be the ride that actually makes you pee your pants.

A high-flying coaster that’ll send you through loop after loop after loop. Just make sure you don’t eat a big lunch before you ride. Trust us – we speak from experience.

While the other guys may have a water ride or two, Oceans of Fun has always been and still remains the biggest, baddest water park in the Midwest. If you want to get wet, this is the place to do it.

Sure, rides are fun, but a big part of the theme park experience is meeting a few tall, fuzzy celebrities. Lucky for you, Six Flags has every Warner Brothers and DC Comics character you can think of. From Bugs Bunny to Superman, this place has all the cool creatures kids really want to meet.

Not thrilled by thrill rides? Don’t worry – they’ve got you covered. With 60 shops, loads of live entertainment and pioneer craft demonstrations, Silver Dollar City can keep you entertained no matter what your interests.

Have fun. off the beaten path. And no matter where you go, don’t forget the underdogs of the roller coaster world. State fairs can be a cool way to get out of the city and have a little fun. Visit mostatefair.com, kansasstatefair.com or iowastatefair.com to find out about all that your state’s fair has to offer.

Let’s go Ladolfing So you think you know how to throw a backyard barbecue, huh? You’ve got the grill, the sweet back deck and maybe even a few mosquito-repellant candles. But you’re still missing one thing: a simple-tobuild and simple-to-play backyard game to keep your guests entertained while you try not to burn their burgers. Not to worry, though. We’ve got you covered with the simple (and insanely fun) game known as Ladder Golf.

But first things first. You’ll need supplies: (Makes 2 ladders & 6 sets of ballropes.) • ¾" x 18" PVC pipes (18) • ¾" x 8" PVC pipes (8) •¾ " 90-degree elbow PVC pipe fittings (12) • ¾" T-shaped PVC pipe fittings (12) • 12 golf balls (6 of one color, 6 of another) • ½" nylon rope (six 15" pieces) • A tube or two of Super Glue

18"

Now, as we all know, no backyard game is fully awesome unless it’s hand-built. You do want to be fully awesome, don’t you? Good. Then sit down, grab your favorite beverage and follow our handy-dandy illustrations to build your very own Ladolf set. If you’re feeling really creative, you can even paint your set to match your favorite sports team’s colors – and we also hear that red, white and blue look pretty rockin’ together.

HOW TO PLAY 1. Get two teams of two people. 2. Set up your ladders about 5 paces apart, with one person from each team at each ladder. 3. Have the first player from each team take turns throwing three ballropes apiece, then add up the score and let the second players throw. 4. Keep going until you hit 21. Easy enough? We thought so. SCORING Top rung – 1 point Middle rung – 2 points Bottom rung – 3 points The ballrope has to stay on a rung to count, and the first team to 21 wins. Cancelling points – for example, if you score 3 and your opponent scores 2, you only get 1 point and they get 0. And, as always, you’ve gotta win by 2.

8"

The Ballropes Putting together a ballrope is easy.

15"

• Use a ½-inch bit to drill a hole directly through 2 golf balls (one for each end of the rope).

8"

• Coat the inside of the holes you just drilled with Super Glue. • Thread the rope through so that the end of the rope is flush with the outer edge of the golf ball. • Voila – you’ve got yourself a ballrope. Now just make 5 more of these bad boys and you’ve got yourself a set.

18"

18" And just when you thought it couldn’t get any more fun: For more info on backyard games the whole family can play, visit washers.org or playcornhole.org. We promise you’ll be glad you did. Loving life with Ladolf? If you have as much fun as we do throwing around the ol' ballropes, then snap a few pics and email them to contactus@cacu.com. We'd love to see 'em.
