Mariette Himes Gomez Collection The Melbourne series was inspired by 1920’s American vintage pieces acquired by Mariette several years ago for use in her country home. Our interpretation is crafted from individual rattan ‘rods’ assembled to resemble a tambour effect over a solid mahogany and rattan pole frame. Loose seat and back cushions provide the luxury of a fully upholstered piece. The Melbourne series is recommended for interior use only and should not be used in an outdoor or protected outdoor environment.

Mariette Himes Gomez Collection The Palmer upholstered series is reminiscent of a gentleman’s club settee found in a Brighton, England antique shop. The sofa and chair are luxuriously padded and tufted, offering an inviting seat for lounging. Distinctive turned exposed wood legs adorn each piece with a convex porch on the front rail of the chair and sofa.

Mariette Himes Gomez Collection The Montauk Bed was designed by Mariette Himes Gomez and has been custom made for clients throughout her career. Named for a particular bed that she had custom made for a boat house on Long Island, Hickory Chair’s version has a tall headboard with gracefully enveloping wings, a softly pleated roll across the top, upholstered side rails and a choice between a footboard with a scrolled top or a simple upholstered foot rail. This beautiful silhouette is finished all the way around allowing it to float in a room. Available in Queen, King and California King.

Mariette Himes Gomez Collection Always attracted by intriguing profiles, Mariette found the inspiration for the Jacques in a table base made of square metal tubing while shopping the Bon Marche’, a French flea market. The distinctive profile of the metal frame features a continuous line with “U” shaped vertical members connected by a rectangular frame which supports two removable wood trays, which may be purchased separately. The metal is a burnished bronze color while the trays are available in any Hickory Chair finish.

Mariette Himes Gomez Collection Inspired by antique hunt tables and wake tables, the Harvest Table allows for generous dining while still being compact when both leaves are down. Its name is derived from its original use as a place to share the seasonal harvest or successful hunt with family and friends. Our Harvest table features center posts that many be pulled out to support the generous drop leaf extensions. With both leaves up, the Harvest Table measures 84 by 53 inches seating 6 to 8 comfortably. When closed, the 22 inch depth makes the perfect sofa table or console.

Wood Finish Options Hickory Chair’s finish options make it simple to add your own personality to almost any of our Fine Furnishings. Select from more than fifty wood and paint finishes, combine two contrasting finishes on the same piece, or choose to eliminate physical distressing on a piece. With
The Cerused finish technique creates a washed appearance that allows the natural beauty of the wood to show. As Wood Species have unique grain patterns and absorb finishes differently, a wide variation in finish color and inconsistency in the amount of visible whitish hang up should be expected. The Cerused finishes are species specific as the resulting color is highly dependant on the natural color of the wood and is unique to each species. It is not available on items constructed of maple or cherry. Cerused finishes have a low to medium sheen level and light distressing. These finish colors are not interchangeable between species (i.e. you cannot order Cerused Mahogany on a piece constructed of Ash).

Paint Techniques, colors continued
Hickory Chair offers four paint techniques in eight colors that provide different levels of distressing to painted pieces: Weathered, Rustic, Vintage and Heirloom. The Heirloom technique has extra heavy distressing that includes gouging, chiseling, splits, very worn edges, and heavy burnishing completed with a hand-rubbed finish coat and medium sheen. See page 27 for more information regarding the Heirloom technique. Weathered Technique (Alternative Finish) Antiqued finish with medium physical distressing with wear-through primarily on the edges and medium sheen with a waxy hand.
Vintage Technique (Alternative Finish) Antiqued finish with heavy physical distressing, including rasping and wormholing, wear through and lightly crackled areas. Medium sheen with a rubbed finish.
Rustic Technique (Premium Finish) Antiqued finish with heavy physical distressing with wear-through on the edges and field, crackled areas and low sheen.
Vintage Technique (Alternative Finish) Antiqued finish with heavy physical distressing, including rasping and wormholing, wear through and lightly crackled areas. Medium sheen with a rubbed finish.
