Introduction
INTRODUCTION This Tutorial is going to show how to use the most common tools of ® ARCHLine.XP by designing a new, simple building. This booklet shows only the fastest and most simple steps, so we recommend You to try other possibilities beyond the instructions, it will probably help your further works by becoming more acquainted with the ARCHLine.XP®. You can find detailed description of each function in the User Manual or press the F1 button to read the Help file. If you have any question, do not hesitate to contact your ARCHLine.XP® partner. With this tutorial the result of each lesson is saved. So if you would like to skip lessons, just load the last skipped lesson’s project, and you can continue the tutorial with the next lesson. ® Before start working with ARCHLine.XP , follow the next steps:

LESSON 1 – SETTING PREFERENCES We are going to draw the plan of the following building:

In the dialog window choose the Project option and click on the Create new project button. Define the name of the new project: „Project1”.

Choose Project Properties command from the File menu.

The drawings of the project are listed here. The bulb after the name of the drawing signs the visibility, which means that a window belongs to the drawing. Click on the sign of a sheet by the name of the drawing, if you want to delete the drawing from the project and from the drive as well. ® In ARCHLine.XP you can handle projects, drawings, pictures.
The project is an ideal tool to handle together several coherent drawings. For example the 2D ground plan, the frontal view, sections, perspectives, etc. of a drawing can be managed together. In this case all drawings (plan, views, sections) are in one .PRO file. All information, even the textures, preferences, hatch templates, line types belong to the project file. The floor plan, the different views and the layout are in dynamic connection with each other in the project. If you modify any of them, the others follow the changes automatically. The management of the projects are simple, you can easily transport from one computer to the other, because you have to copy only one file, or maybe write to a CD.

LESSON 1 By processing of the following model building we use mainly the original settings of the program. We detail the differ cases. An interactive help runs in the program. By pressing the F1 button the referring text appears on the monitor during the transaction execution.
Using the toolbox You can use the toolbox by short and long clicks. It is important to learn the functions as soon as possible. The following list gives you a summary.

Short click with left mouse button on the icon. It executes the command belonging to the icon.

Long click with left mouse button on the icon. The sub-icon menu appears, from which you can choose the proper command. Short click with right mouse button on the icon. The global Properties window appears, where you can determine the beginning properties of the selected element. What you draw after this has the set properties. CTRL + Click with left mouse button on the icon. The command selects all elements on the drawing from this tool category. For example: You can modify the properties of selected elements at once. Click with left mouse button on the sub-icon menu. Executes the command belonging to the sub-icon. Click with right mouse button on the sub-icon menu. The Edit keyboard shortcuts and toolbars dialog window Appears. You can order a shortcut to any command.
Try these functions until you get used to them.
General preferences Open File menu / Preferences / General dialog window to set some of the general preferences.
You can set and customize the unit of your plan, different options to make your work easier, screen appearance, and some general settings. Now we will use default settings, but please take a look at the different preferences on the left side.

LESSON 2
LESSON 2 – CREATING WALLS We can draw the walls easily by choosing the proper wall from the set and using the different wall creator icons.

Always read the text of the prompt line when you are following the commands.
Construction grid When you design rectangular buildings it is useful to draw the walls on a grid. So first of all define a custom grid for the walls: Choose Modeling / Construction grid / Properties from the menu bar. The grid property window appears. First select a new layer: Line01. We use the grid to draw the walls, but later you can switch off this separate layer. Select Dotted-dashed line type for the grid. Check Parallel Dist. Click on Shift horizontal. You can insert and delete new lines of the grid, and put each other in different distances. With the Copy all button you can duplicate the existing pattern. For the horizontal shift you will need six distances, the vertical shift will have five. Please set the following values in the dialog: Horizontal pattern: Number 1 2 3 4 5 6

Click on OK. Click on Shift vertical. Vertical pattern: Number 1 2 3 4 5

We have to use global coordinates for the accurate planning. Take a look at the status bar. The
means the drawing is in global coordinate system.
If button is displayed then relative coordinate system is active. Click once with left mouse button on it to change it to global. In the global coordinate system type 0,0 for the base point of the grid, and press Enter.
You may not see the whole grid. Scroll the wheel of the mouse to zoom in and out. Click with the scroll wheel, and move the mouse to pan the zoom all button, or click double drawing. Click with left mouse button on with the scroll wheel to zoom to actual fit. You can also use zoom and pan when a command is running, and you have to specify a point graphical.

LESSON 2
Outer walls With this grid you can draw the outer walls of the building quickly by clicking on the points. Before this click with right mouse button on wall tool to open the wall properties dialog. In the dialog set the wall height to 2.7 m, the base height to 0 m, and the width to 0.3 m, and the reference line should be in the
middle.
You can save these properties of the wall: click on the set button in the bottom of the dialog which shows the current set’s name (e.g: 1 layered 38 wide wall). Now a new window appeared what lists the existing sets of walls. Click on New button, and type the name of your outer wall: wall30, and press Enter. With this movement you have saved all the properties of the wall (including line type, material, priorty…etc). Later you can load the set by selecting the set and clicking on activate button. Then click OK in the Properties window. Click long with left mouse button on Wall, then click short on Wall command from the toolbox, and you are ready to draw. Use the scroll wheel of the mouse for zooming and panning to place the points of the wall exactly in the grid points.

It is important to use object snap for an accurate drawing. Verify if the button is checked on the bottom side of the screen. If you see button state, then the object snap is turned off. Click on it to turn on for the drawing. Click with left mouse button on points: E3 - A3 - A5 - E5 - E3, then click with right mouse button. The Wall / Wall command starts with a left mouse click, and you can add a new endpoint of the wall-chain with the left mouse button. The right mouse button finishes the actual wall, but the command is still running, you can place a new starting point. After you have placed the first wall a new window is opened: You can follow your 2D work in a 3D window. You can also work in 3D, and the changes will appear in the 2D window. Click with left mouse button on the window or press Ctrl + TAB to activate it. Press Arrow buttons to orbit the 3d model. Then click once on the plan view to activate it, and to continue the walls. So you drew 4 walls, but the command is still running, which means these four walls are finished, but you can choose a new starting point for the next wall. Click with left mouse button on points: E4 - F4 - F1 - D1 - D3 Then click with right mouse button. Finally draw three more walls on: B5 - B7 - E7 - E5. Then click with right mouse button to finish the actual wall and to end the command. These are the outer walls of your building.

LESSON 2
Inner walls Now create a new set of wall. Open Properties dialog with a right click on the wall button. The Wall 30 set is active, so change the width to 0.15 m and the reference line to the right. Save the new set with the name Wall 15. Draw a wall on the points D2 - F2 then E2 – E3, then C5 - C7. Till now we have used the grid only, but there are several solutions to draw walls or design the outline of a building. Now we will start the wall in a specific distance from the grid. Click Distance from endpoint button. Type 1.15 m and press Enter. Click on right side on the wider wall near C5 point like the picture shows below.

Now the starting point has been placed 115 cm far from C5. Pull right the mouse to the 6. line. The wall must be horizontal, so find the point, the cursor marker will help you.

Click on it, then move the cursor up to E6, click with left then right mouse button. Don’t forget that you can pan and zoom the drawing by clicking with the scroll wheel. We have one more wall to draw, click on Distance from endpoint again, the value is still 1.15 m, click OK. Click with left mouse button near B7 point like the picture shows below.

LESSON 2 Pull the mouse up, and find the perpendicular point on line C. Click with left mouse button once then with right button two times.
We have finished the walls, but there is an incorrect wall intersection in C6. Click on one of the two walls near C6 point with right mouse button and choose X connection from the shortcut menu to fix this wall connection. Then click with right mouse button to end the command. In your later works you can change the wall connections to L, T, or X shape.

LESSON 3
LESSON 3 – PLACING DOORS AND WINDOWS Placing front door Click with the right mouse button on the Door icon of the Toolbox – Modeling menu. The Door dialog appears, in which the door attributes should be defined before the door is placed on the drawing. On the left side there is a door library. Choose Asymmetric doors / Glassed asym. 2. Modify the height to 2.4 m. Move the scroll bar down on the right side of the window and change the reference axis to middle. Click on redraw button: the preview shows the changes.
Save this set. The set button is on the left side of redraw button, and it always named from the actual set. This time the actual set is default. Click on it, then click on New

button, and type Entrance for its name. The door set is saved, click on OK to accept the changes. It is not necessary to save sets, but we suggest it. Using sets saves time for you, because the defined properties can be loaded. Select Door / Door - From wall corner command. Click on the inner side of the 30 cm wide wall between D2 and D3. Place the cursor in the midpoint of the inner side. Click where cursor marker shows the sign. The door is in its place. Now you can change the opening direction by clicking in the corner on the side you want to open the door. You have 4 possibilities: left and right outside, and left a right inside. Try out them, then choose the direction shown below. Then click with right mouse button to finish the door. The command is still running.
There is an other front door which comes to the wall between B6 and B7. Click on the inner side of that wall. You can’t find midpoint between B6 and the thin wall connection, because midpoints are in half way of wall connections or endpoints. So you have to find the

LESSON 3 on the right of C6 like the picture shows. Then click with left mouse button, set the opening direction, and click with right mouse button two times. You have the front doors of this house.
Placing inner doors For the doors inside we use the simplest door. Open the Door properties dialog, and choose General doors / Default from the library. Change the width of it to 0.85 m. Scroll down on the right side and set the reference axis to middle. Leave the other parameters default. Save this door to a set called Inner door. Then click on OK.

Place a door in the midpoint of the wall between E2 and E3. The following door will be in a specific distance from the wall corners. Click on the right side of the wall between E2 and D2, but be careful to click nearer to E2 than D2. The program measures the distance from the nearest endpoint on the clicked side of the wall. After clicking press TAB to change the reference point of the door. Press TAB until the reference point is on the upper side. Type 0.75 and press Enter. Change the opening direction according to the picture below.

Place some more doors. Now you have to click with left mouse button on the right side of the wall between E3-D3, press TAB once and move the cursor to the corner of the door you placed before. Set the opening direction according to the picture below, then click with left then right mouse button. Repeat this for wall E5-D5, and E6-D6.

Place the rest of the doors to the places shown below on the picture, using methods mentioned before. Align door 1 to the midpoint. For doors 2, 3 and 4 change reference point to the upper side with TAB, and place them to the wall corners (
cursor marks help you).

LESSON 3
Placing windows Placing windows is very similar to placing doors. Click on Window icon with right mouse button. Choose General windows / Default window from the library. Change its width to 0.85 m, scroll down and set the reference axis to middle. Save the parameters to a set called window1 and press OK. Window / Window from wall corner command. Select Click on the inner side of the wall between B5 and B6, and find the midpoint in the inner side. This is window 1. Repeat this for 2, 3 and 4. For mark will be on the outer side of the wall. window 5 the For window 6, click on the inner side of the wall between A4 and A5. Move the cursor to the midpoint of window 5, then click.

Pan the screen to the left side of the building. Click on the inner side of the mark at the wall between F2-F3. Press TAB once. Zoom in and find the side of door a, then click. Zoom out and do the same with window 8: align it to door b. Then click on the inner side of the wall between D1-D2 then find the on the inner side of the wall. Do the same with window 10.

LESSON 3
When you are searching for points with the cursor on the screen, you can zoom in and out to find the correct one. It can occur very often that several special points (midpoints, endpoints, grid points‌ etc.) are in a small area. In that case you can find the right one only if you zoom in until you can move the cursor on the points distinctly. If you make a mistake, you can use undo button or Ctrl + Z shortcut.
Corner window In the A3 corner we will place a corner window. Choose

Edit corner window. Click on the inner side of the corner. Place the layout away from the building plan. Choose yes to keep the layout. On the left side Profile definitions appears in the toolbox.

Click on polygon command. Click on point 1 to start the polygon. Move the mouse right and type 3 and press Enter. Move up and type 2.4 and press Enter. Move left and type 7 and press Enter. Move down and type 2.4 and press Enter. Move back to point 1 and click with left mouse button.
The picture shows the path. Make sure that you have drawn exact horizontal and vertical lines. If you have made a mistake, you can click on
undo.
In the Glass structure settings dialog you can set the parameters of the sides of the corner window. Change default settings with the following values for the first side: • • • • • • • •
Frame width around: 0.075 Divider Thickness: 0.075 Divider Width:0.075 No. of glasses horizontal: 3 No. of glasses vertical: 1 (scroll down) Divider material: Beech Frame material: Beech Save these values in a new set called Side1. Click on OK. This was the first side of the corner The second side has the same properties, but change the No. of glasses horizontal to 4. Save it in a new set called Side2. Click on OK. Then click with right mouse button. The corner window is finished. Select the layout and delete it with DEL button. Click with right mouse button to end the command.

Save your project and click on the axonometric window. You can rotate the 3D model with the arrow buttons, or press Shift, press the scroll wheel down, and move the mouse to orbit. Now the doors and windows are finished on the ground floor.

LESSON 4 – SLABS AND FOUNDATION Creating new floors Click on the 2D window to continue the work on the plan. For this house we will draw a garage, and the foundation. • • • • • •
Floor button to enter the Edit floor Click on the levels dialog. Press Add down button once for the foundation and Add up button once for the roof level. Rename Level 1 to Roof level, and Level-1 to Foundation. Click double on Foundation level’s height and type 2.5 m and press Enter. With this change the floor heights changed on every floor, so set the floor height to 0 on the ground floor. Click on the state of the Foundation’s floor and select Active. This means that you will work on the foundation’s floor. For Ground floor select Visible state. This means that you can see the objects and elements, but you can’t modify them on that floor. It will help you to use the other floor’s outlines as a layer.
Then click on OK. The Ground floor looks grey-colored (Visible), while the drawing color on the Foundation’s floor is black (Active). Wall to get in the Properties dialog. Click Click with right mouse button on on the set button, and Activate the Wall 30 set what you have created before. Change the height to 2.20 m. The reference line is on the right. Create a new set called Basement30. Then click on OK to apply changes and close the wall properties dialog. Click on Wall / Wall command. Define the basement’s walls using the outer corners of the ground floor’s walls:

LESSON 4 Be careful to place the points in the exact place. Use zoom and pan. In point 2 don’t click on the corner of the corner window, but search the the outer corner horizontal and the vertical wall.

You may get a wrong wall intersection in corner 12. To resolve this problem click on wall with right mouse button, and choose L connection from the shortcut menu. Then click on wall b. Click with right mouse button. Then click on wall c and choose T connection, and click on wall b. Click with right mouse button.

Foundation For the foundation we have to use a different wall height. Click with right mouse button on Wall icon. Change the wall height to 1.2 m, and the base height to 1 m. Save it into a new set called Foundation.
Draw along the remaining walls of the ground floor with this new set of wall. Pan your drawing to the top left side of the building. Select Wall / Wall command, then place the starting point to point 1 (the outer corner). The reference line will go along the outer side of the walls of the ground floor. Follow the path with left mouse button: 2-3-4-5 then click with right mouse button. Move the mouse cursor to point 6. this is the next starting point. Then click in point 7, and click with right mouse button. Then click with left mouse button on point 8, then on point 9. Click with right mouse button.

Pan your drawing to the right side of the building. Follow the path: left click on 10-11-12-13, right click, then left click 14-15, right click, then left click 16-17. Finally click with right mouse button two times.

The foundation’s walls are finished. Take a look at the 3D view, orbit the model to see if the walls are correct. Click on the plan view again to activate it. Save your project by clicking on
Save icon.
Slabs There are slabs on every floor. Draw one of them under the basement. Select Slab / Slab by walls, we will draw a slab around the 2.2 m high walls. Click with left mouse button on walls a, b, c, d, e, f, then click with right mouse button.

The slab is finished on the Foundation floor. With the Page Up and Page Down buttons you can move up and down across the floors. Activate the Ground floor: press Page Up once. Select Slab / Slab by walls and zoom out to see all the ground floor‘s walls of the building. Move the mouse cursor to the bottom right side of the drawing area, and click with left mouse button. Move the cursor to the top left side. Click with the left mouse button.

LESSON 4
It is important that the building is all inside the rectangle of selection. This means every wall are selected on the ground floor. The direction of the selection is also important. If the rectangle is from bottom-right to top-left then the rectangle is green, and it selects everything what is inside of it, and what it touches. If the rectangle is from top-left to bottom-right then the rectangle is blue, and it selects the elements only what are inside the rectangle. If not every wall are selected then press Shift and click on the remaining walls to add them to the selection. After You selected all the walls on ground floor, then click with right mouse button. The slab on the ground floor is finished now. Now You should get a result like this:
Roof slabs The roof slabs will be a little bit different. They will have extensions, but first we draw their contour along the wall. button to enter the Edit floor levels Press dialog and Activate the Roof level, and set the Ground floor visible. Then click on OK. Pan the drawing to the right side of the building, and zoom in.

Select the Slab / Slab by polygon command, and click with left mouse button on points: 1, 2, 3, 4, 1. Make sure that the points are on the right side of the wider walls, and the cursor marker shows the points.
Pan to the left side of the building, and draw an other roof slab. Slab / Slab by polygon command and follow the points of Select the the wall. The first point is in the outer corner of the wider wall near to the grid point E3. Zoom in, and you can place it correctly. Click when you find the

Then click in points 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 1 again. The cursor marker will show if you are near each point. If you have made a mistake, click on undo button. If you notice the mistake after you finished the slab, click on it with right mouse button and select Edit (on all layers) / Move node command, and place the node to its right place.

LESSON 4 You may notice that the middle part of the building is separated from the other two parts. Their slabs don’t overlap the middle walls, because the middle walls will be taller, and will have an other type of roof. But now let’s make the extensions of the roof slabs first. Click with right mouse button on the left slab, on side a. Select Edit (on all layers) / Parallel shift command.
An orange line appears with the cursor, which means the side, and the distance is shown near the cross- cursor. Pull the mouse right, type 0.4, and press Enter. The side of the slab has moved right by 40 cm. Then click on side b, pull the cursor up and type 0.4 again. Press Enter. Repeat this with the c and d then e, f, and g sides. After the changes the roof slabs look like this:

Sloped roof The middle part of the building will have a slight sloped roof plane. The Roof / Roof - Plane by command you will use can be found under reference line. Click on the red popmenu keyword of the prompt line and select Rectangle HV. The first corner of the rectangle is the point 1, and the opposite corner is point 2. The first point of the reference line is point 3, and the second is point 1. By moving from the point 3 to 1 an orange arrow appears on the reference line which shows the ascent of the roof.

When you place the reference line you can set the following parameters of the roof in the dialog:

After pressing Enter the roof is finished. We have to make some modifications. Click with right mouse button on the roof, and select Properties… to enter the Properties window. Set off the following options: • • • • •
Show roof planes with tile thickness, Show beams 2D representation, Create eaves purlin, Create rafters, Create battens for roof tiles.

Then click on OK. We won’t draw any other roof like this in the plan, so you don’t need to save it to a set. Click on Yes, and you can see the modifications on the drawing. Of course in your later works you can save sets for roofs too. These settings make 3D movements faster, because the program saves memory capacity of your computer. It is also easier to work on the 2D plan. We suggest to set these options off while you draw your building, but you can set them on if you want the final result or rendered image to be more detailed. Now the roof looks like this in the 3D window:
You can see as the walls don’t reach the roof because of their height. So go back to the 2D window, and move down to the Ground floor with Page Down button.

Select the four middle walls: click on a side, press Shift button and click with left mouse button on the other walls. Then release Shift. Make sure that you selected only the four walls. You can see the Property grid on the left side. Click on the value of Other parameters / height: 2.7 m. Change it to 5 m, and press Enter.
On the 3D window you can see as the walls go through the roof. Click double on the roof in the 3D window to get in the Property dialog. On the left side choose Projections and cut in the list, click on it.

LESSON 5 – OUTER OBJECTS First of all we will make a terrain. For a simple, planar environment we can use slab tool. In Standard and Professional version you have the possibility to create a high detailed terrain. First of all, turn off the layer of the grid. Click on on the Bulb of the Line01 layer.

The terrain is a simple rectangular slab, but the foundation and the basement need space from it. Cut the slab around the walls with a polygon. Use Slab / Create hole command. Click on the side of the terrain slab to select it. • • • •
Choose Polygon command from the Profile definitions: Click on point 1, then click on arc keyword in the prompt line. Click on point 2. An sign of the cursor shows the point between the arced and the straight wall. Click on the right side of the arced wall and the arc has been defined by three points. Then continue the polygon by clicking on points 3, 4, 5,… 21. Then draw an arc between 21 and 22 just like between 1 and 2. You can use undo button, if you made a mistake. Finally click two times with right mouse button to finish the command.

Terrace A terrace can be created by a new slab or moving nodes or sides. Now we use the latter solution. Activate the Ground floor, and set the Foundation visible. First we have to select the slab on the ground floor. Click with right mouse button on the corner window. The shortcut menu appears.

The shortcut menu shows: Window (471) [1/6]. You may get a different line in the top of the shortcut menu. The Window word means you have selected a window. 471 means the caption of the window which is generated randomly when you have created the window. The [1/6] means that there are 6 different objects under this particular point (window, wall, group, slab‌). There can be even more in different points. You can change the selection between these elements by clicking with left mouse button on the top line. Click on it, and turn the selection until the slab will be selected.

Stairs There is 45 cm height difference between the terrain and the terrace, we fix it in the next steps. It is also useful, when the garage is connected to the living area, so we will place a stair inside too. Let’s start with the outer stairs. First you have to place a stair away from the building, then define the parameters of it, finally move it to the right place. Click on Stair / Stair – Predefined. Select General / Straight simple from the library, and click on OK. Place it to the blank area of the drawing away from the building. Move the cursor up, type 0.9, and press Enter. The stair dialog appears. There are lock-icons by the values, which means you can lock them while you change the other ones. The red background of the field means the value will not result an ergonomic stair, but you can change or allow it. These values are depending on each other so if you change one of them other ones can change (which are not locked). Set the following values.

Stay in the dialog and define other parameters. Click on 3D view on the top-left side of the window. Change the base height to -0.45 m. browse icon in the row of the waist slab material. The slab is not opened above the stair, so we create a hole on it. Above the stair there must be a free height (2.1 m). Choose File / Preferences / Stair standard. You can change the free height, but this time keep the default setting and click on OK. Choose Stair / Cut slabs above the stair. Click on the stair in the basement. Using the free height value this command created a hole above the stair. If you need more freedom to design stairs in your plans, there are other possibilities to customize stairs. LESSON 6 – OTHER OBJECTS AND SETTINGS Let’s add some objects to make the building’s outfit more real. You can make your finished plan more impressive with some decorating objects, using various materials, and simulating real shadows on the 3D view.
Balustrade Activate the Ground floor with Page Up button. Click on with right mouse button to set its properties.

Click on Select profile button. Choose General profiles / Rectangle simple from the profile library. Click on the value of height and change it to 0.03. The width is also 0.03. Click on redraw button to refresh the preview. Click in the middle of the profile to change its reference point (the red square shows the reference point). Click on OK. Change the default step to 1.2 m, and the offset from balustrade trajectory to 0.1. Click on Next button. Click on Select profile to change it. Choose General profiles / Rectangle simple from the profile library. Change height and width to 0.02 and 0.02. The reference point is in the middle. Then Click on OK. The Horizontal handrail position must be 0.1 just like the baluster’s offset. Change the material to Steel. The balustrade can have more handrails than one. So after you set the handrail’s parameters click on Add/remove handrail button. Insert four new handrails with Insert new button. In the Shift vertical column change the five handrail heights to 1, 0.7, 0.6, 0.5, 0.4.

LESSON 6 The first handrail will be thicker than the others. Click on the button in the profile column in the first row. The profile is still a simple rectangle, but its height is 0.03 and weight is 0.05. The reference point is in the middle-bottom position. Click on OK. Click on OK again. Click Next, and you can see the preview of the balustrade pattern. Save your baluster into a new set called steel balustrade, then click on OK. Now define the path: choose Balustrade / Create balustrade – open path. Click on point 1 then point 2 then press enter three times (endpoint of balustrade, default height, end command).
The balustrade is finished, you can see it in the 3D window. In your later works you can customize balustrades too. You can modify (move, add, remove…etc) balusters, with balustrade command.

Columns, beams Place some columns and beams for a covered porch and a pergola. Activate Line01 layer to see the grid: click on Layer settings button, and turn on the bulb, and open the lock of the Line01 layer. Click on OK. Beam / Column. Click on Select profile button in the dialog. Select Change the profile to General profiles / Rectangle simple. The profile height and the weight is 0.15 and the reference point is in the middle. Click on Redraw and Click on OK. The height is 2.55. Turn on Same materials switch and change the solid material to Beech. Save it to a new set called wooden column. Click on OK.

If you have the rendering module, you have the possibility to create higher quality and size pictures with more sophisticated details.
North direction, sun position You can sign North direction several ways. In the menu View / View properties / North direction you can set it graphical. At the same place you can find a Sun position command, which opens a dialog. Here you can define the Location, Date, Time, and also North direction. In the 3D window you can simulate the shadow of this definition with the Sun setting toolbar. You can also scroll the date and time of the day realtime. Save your project by clicking on

LESSON 7 – DIMENSION AND PRESENTATION You don’t need the grid any more, so click on it and delete. We have to choose a standard for the plan. Click with left mouse button on Toolbox / Dimension / Properties. Select format parameters on the left side of the dialog. In the options choose SIA 1 cm standard. Click on
back button, and click on OK.
Wall dimensions You can easily dimension all the walls with just a few clicks. Click on Dimension – Walls button. There are several possibilities for dimensioning. Select Door / window axes and wall endpoints and click on Add button. For the wall dimensioning we suggest the following order: • • • •
Commands to execute: Door / window axes and wall endpoints Door / window frames and wall endpoints Wall endpoints and connections Wall endpoints Then click on OK. Click on Select keyword in prompt line. This allows you to select the walls with a rectangle. Zoom out and select the whole building with a selection rectangle. Click with right mouse button. Place the dimensions near to the walls. They will be adjusted in rectangle shape. Move the mouse to define the distance of the rectangle. It will be about 26*16 m. You can also dimension the walls one by one with left click (without clicking on Select keyword), it takes more time, but it may result more customized placement of dimensioning.
Dimensioning of openings Click on Dimension – Openings / Dimension – Openings, then click on All keyword in the prompt line. This will dimension all the openings of the building. If you don’t want to dimension every one of them, you can select them one by one with left mouse button. If the dimension texts are in an overlap, it is not necessary to delete, you can flip their direction by clicking on the other side of the opening, or move the dimension texts.

After you finished all the design and modification of your plan, it is suggested to copy and paste sections and facades in a new 2D window. The copy of the 3D model becomes to a drawing what contains not architectural elements, but lines and hatches, what you can delete, crate and modify without any effects on the 3D model.

Do this with the section view. Zoom out and select all with a selection rectangle in the section window. Press Ctrl + C shortcut to copy it to the clipboard. Click in point 1 to define the hotspot of the copy.
Select Window / New window 2D command from the menu. Type Section-2d for its name, and press Enter. Press Ctrl + V to paste the content of the clipboard. Type 0,0 and press Enter. Press Esc to end the command. Close the Section1 window. We won’t use it in the presentation. We will use the content of Section-2d window. The section1 window is not deleted, but became invisible.

Plot layout When you work with a plotter or large size printer, and you arrange several drawings in one sheet of paper, you have to prepare it. First, You have to find a 3d viewpoint. Click on View 1 window. Use the arrow buttons to find an axonometric or perspective view. You can also use the mouse to orbit the 3d model: Press Shift, click with the scroll wheel, and move the mouse to orbit.

Always Save the project before you create plot layout, because the saved data will appear on the paper. Choose Plot layout / Prepare plot layout from the menu. Select an ISO A2 size paper from the forms. Change the orientation to Landscape, switch off the Plot Stamp Setting, and click on OK.

Click on Print button to create the PDF file. Wait a minute, while ARCHLine creates the PDF file. Open this file and check it.
