I am very pleased to say that some very exciting things have happened to Blackwood Miners’ Institute in the last few months. We have been awarded Arts Portfolio status by Arts Council Wales, which enables us to bring you the very best arts and culture, AND we have become the first Dementia Friendly Theatre venue in Wales. Alongside a fantastic range of family friendly events, live music, and the very best comedy and light entertainment - there’s plenty to pick from this summer! Wales International Documentary Festival 12 - 14 Mai / 12 - 14 May

Dros dri diwrnod, bydd Gŵyl Rhaglenni Dogfennol Rhyngwladol Cymru yn dod â gwneuthurwyr ffilmiau annibynnol, arbenigwyr yn y diwydiant a chynulleidfaoedd rhyngwladol at ei gilydd i Goed Duon, Cymru. Bydd yr ŵyl yn sgrinio dros 50 o ffilmiau, yn cynnal digwyddiadau rhwydweithio, dosbarthiadau meistri, rhaglenni hyfforddiant a dathlu’r goreuon o ran ffilmiau dogfennol dros y flwyddyn ddiwethaf, o raglenni nodwedd greadigol i raglenni dogfennol ar-lein byr. Over three days, WIDF will draw independent filmmakers, industry experts and international audiences to Blackwood, Wales. The festival will screen over 50 films, host networking events, masterclasses, training programmers and celebrate the best in documentary filmmaking over the last year, from creative feature-docs to online shortdocs.

Where to Park

Blackwood Miners’ Institute is situated in the heart of Blackwood town centre, with plenty of parking from just a 2-minute walk away. We have a limited number of Disabled parking spaces, which can be pre-booked in advance by calling the box office on 01495 227206.

T here are ramped entrances and level access throughout the building. The Bar, Dance Studio and Box Office are on the ground floor and there is lift access to the theatre on the first floor.
