October 23-25—Leadership Development Institute at Santa Clara Marriott
President’s Corner Hello Central Section, I hope your summer is going well and you are beginning to prepare for the 2009-2010 FBLA year. Congratulations to those Central Section members who represented us at the FBLA National Leadership Conference. Here are a few notes and reminders for the new FBLA year. The new FBLA year will begin with Officer/Adviser Training Day. This year’s Central Section OAT day will be held at Corcoran High School on October 3, 2009. Make sure all of your chapter members attend because vital information about the section projects and other matters will be discussed. A new year means it is time to plan on receiving your Business Achievement Awards. Be sure to visit CAFBLA.org because conditions for this state project have changed significantly. As your chapter begins recruiting for the new FBLA year, be sure all of your members attend the Leadership Development Institute-North. Also, soon after LDI, Free Enterprise Day is on November 15, 2009. Finally, keep in mind that deadlines can approach quickly; work on section and state projects throughout the year and study hard for this year’s Central Section Leadership Conference, which promises to be the most fun conference you may attend all year. Finally, California FBLA now has a forum. Sign up and post on the Central Section board under the introductions thread. When you sign up, make sure your user name is your first and last name and not one that is similar to a screen name. This new forum will keep our entire section informed on different events throughout the year. Also, the forum is a way for members in all six sections in California FBLA to discuss topics such as competitive events strategies and new programs for the state. Also, media from conferences throughout the year can be accessed on the forum. So don’t forget to sign up for the California FBLA Forum at http://cafbla.prophpbb.com. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at centralpresident@cafbla.org. Good luck this year Central Section! Imran Noorali, Central Section President
NLC Central Section Winner Patty Ma Central Section Recording Secretary Congratulations to Kasey Avila from Tulare Union High School, who finished in 4th place for Job Interview at the National Conference this year. He has been in FBLA for three years and has worked, studied, and accomplished a great amount in FBLA. He was Chapter President his senior year of high school and placed at State and Nationals, which was surely a cherry on top of his senior year. Placing at Nationals was not only a proud achievement for Kasey himself, but it was also one for his friends, family, adviser, school, and Central Section. Kasey Avila graduated from Tulare Union High School, Class of 2009, and is now attending College of Sequoias in Visalia. Not only is he going to school, but he is also working full time at the Tulare Joint Union High School Farm. In addition, Kasey has started a business with a couple of friends selling and installing dairy supplies to local dairymen. Kasey has done a great deal in his high school career and even greater opportunities await him in his future.
Officer Spotlights Imran Noorali and Shelina Noorali My name is Imran Noorali and I am your Central Section President for the 2009-2010 FBLA year. I currently attend Monache High School where I will be a senior next year and will enter my fourth year in FBLA. Besides FBLA, my life revolves around my minor addictions to Youtube and Facebook. During my free time, I enjoy reading and watching TV. Finally, my favorite part of the day is when I am playing sports such as tennis, basketball, and swimming. Hello Central Section! My name is Shelina Noorali and I am your Central Section Executive Secretary for the 2009/2010 year. I am a hardworking and determined individual, and I will give my all in making this section the best it can be. I received exposure to FBLA in the beginning of my high school career as a Freshman when I was elected chapter parliamentarian. With the experience I gained from holding a chapter office and the experience from attending conferences and workshops, I realized how much fun FBLA is and how FBLA can be a positive influence on high school students lives. As your Central Section Executive Secretary, I will do my best to improve FBLA and to share FBLA with others. In my free time, I enjoy swimming and shopping. I also enjoy laughing, coloring, painting, and just being a kid. I have a passion for baking and will love to bake cookies for you anytime! I am also addicted to Facebook and look forward to adding you all to my friends list! I am a very loud and outgoing person, and I am thrilled to meet, and work with all of you in Central Section!

Central Section is looking terrific this year! We have a lot in store for everyone including advisers, members, and officers! This year we are stressing our BIG goals. These are goals set by us, your Central Section officers and vary from Central Section projects, memberships, and sponsorships. The “B” in BIG stands for Budget Goal. It becomes our priority to surpass this goal due to the fact that the number we have set is very basic. The “I” stands for Incredible Goal. This goal has a medium difficulty level, and the “G” stands for Grand Slam Goal. As a section, we hope to achieve as many Grand Slam goals as we can. One of our major concerns for the Central Section is improvement. We consider it a success if we improve in any of the areas. Any improvement is a step towards our Grand Slam Goals. Another goal we are stressing this year is the improvement of our Honor Roll Program. By adding tiers, we make recognition become more accessible for all chapters. We want to ensure every chapter in Central Section makes the effort in having their members participate in this program. Awards range from Elite, Perfect, Best, and Ultimate, with each award process containing its own level of difficulty. For further information about our Central Section projects and activities, please check the California FBLA website. Our section has great potential, and your participation is a major contributor to that. We hope to see all of you participating in Central Section projects this year and we look forward to a successful year!
