LANE FAMILY LECTURE & ROBERT LANE FELLOWSHIP The Lane Family Lecture and the Robert Lane Fellowship each provide valuable connections between environmental experts and the WSU community. First held in 1993, the Lane Family Lecture helps generate public discussion about key environmental science issues. Previous speakers include Jane Goodall, David Suzuki, and Cecil Andrus. This year’s speaker, Sandra Postel, National Geographic freshwater fellow and director of the Global Water Policy Project, is a leading authority on freshwater and champion for the development of a new water ethic. The Lane Fellowship provides vital funding for WSU graduate students to continue their education, expand their research, and become active global citizens.
THE SCHOOL OF THE ENVIRONMENT The School of the Environment is committed to providing solutions to a wide range of pressing environmental challenges associated with human impacts on natural resources and the Earth’s ecosystems. By developing a fundamental understanding of how these systems work, we will help educate the next generation of informed citizens and environmental leaders and create a more sustainable society and healthier planet.
