CAHORS, the SMC composite specialist CAHORS has been using glass-fiber reinforced polyester composite to manufacture its products since the 1970s.
Production of this composite material is possible thanks to more than 40 years' expertise in chemical composition, SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) manufacture and hot pressing. The resulting composite material, known as SMC, is a type of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP).
4500 tonnes of SMC produced every year
SMC is extremely robust in outside environments. It is not affected by corrosion and has good heat resistance, while its glass-fiber reinforced composition means it has excellent resistance to mechanical shocks.
SMC vs. Thermoplastics Unlike thermoplastics, SMC does not weaken under the effect of a heat source or melt when exposed to flame, thereby preventing the spread of fire. SMC also has good resistance to standard solvents as well as alkaline agents.
SMC vs. Concrete SMC offers the same level of mechanical performance as concrete, but is 10 times lighter and therefore much easier to handle.

DRY UTILITIES
Product advantages Cell structure
Cell structure panels for better mechanical resistance and greater stability of materials (backfill, concrete) on the box.
Stackable/interlocking
Secure and stable box storage thanks to a design that facilitates palletization.
Base
Base for cleanliness that can be disassembled and removed.
10
Cable routing
Underground cable draw-in boxes are equipped with knockouts (Ă˜28-45) to facilitate sheath/sleeve routing.
Assembly
Kit boxes easily assembled with only 4 panels and 8 screws.
Cable supports
Supports built-in to the box, supplied and assembled in factory.
The boxes are designed for the various types of closing device available (frames and covers). These devices are installed using a concrete formwork, which makes it possible to: • adjust the box to the final ground level • ensure the mechanical resistance of the assembly meets the level recommended for installations under pavements
UNDERGROUND DRY UTILITIES
Formwork
The cell structure of the panels guarantees a perfect join between the concrete and the cable draw-in box. A closing device bedding kit is available to assist installation (see below).
