Volunteers support Smithfi eld Bypass Project tree planting

Green Space Our Place volunteers joined with the Smithfi eld Bypass Project contractor Highway Construction Albem Operations Joint Venture (HAJV) to plant over 900 trees between Cattana Wetlands and the new highway. Council Division 8 Councillor Rhonda Coghlan said: “The tree planting was an extension of the partnership which was established last year to develop a new wetland habitat in the Wetlands reserve, adjacent to the bypass alignment. This demonstrated again just what can be achieved when industry, government and community groups work together. “The Cattana Wetlands Jabiru volunteers do a fabulous job with their maintenance, upkeep and promotion of the Wetlands and this project shows once again their commitment to this environmentally signifi cant area.”
